@mattym8 just like any animal in nature, when there are too many, they are destructive. Too many deer destroy the forest by eating all the plants. Too many muskrats destroy a stream by digging up the banks. That's why nature has predators, to keep prey animals from overwhelming their food supply and destroying their environment.
@@JosephCartertheMinkMan Is trapping banned in the areas you go after muskrats? Muskrats along with Mink are a protected species in every state I know of. Muskrats have always taken a bad rap just because of rat at the end of their name!

my name is dezel and I love moles voles gophers and squirrels rats and more I love trapping and fishing and hunting for rabbit I was told that rats were horrible vicious little animals that were that are impossible to tame challenge accepted. Not trying to be rude
People have tamed and trained rats for hundreds of years. Absolutely no one is saying they are impossible to tame..... They've gone so far as to domesticate one particular species and sell them in pet stores to little children as pets.
@@JosephCartertheMinkMan that Resident sitting on bench mentioned Bounty, from the City per Muskrat? as part of your Extermination Fee? or Bounty solely for the Musk Rat Pelt from Furriers?
@jaguarwarrior866 I'm not sure what he meant but the city is paying me to remove those specific muskrats in that specific park. It's not a Statewide Bounty or anything. Whether that gentlemen understands those details or not I really don't know.
@@JosephCartertheMinkMan thank you for taking the time to answer my question. have you considered a Working line Rat Terrier, or (Mountain) Feist instead of a Patterdale Terrier? to replace Gypsy. looking forward to seeing your Training Sessions with your choice.

Muskrats don’t make a noice? I do enjoy learning something new.
What do you do with live muskrat? Do you use them for practice hunts or do you process them for mink and dog food?
Ah you answer at the end. Thanks for continuing to post, I enjoy your content
Launch it early!
How do you dispatch the live rats you catch? Love your videos man
Live prey for training young mink
@barbarashields5552 that's what I was thinking too, still brave nonetheless
Man a polaroid lens would be nice in some shots at the water
How many mink do you have?
Joseph, I'm very afraid of all these rodents, I wish I could work with you to overcome this phobia of mine)
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
This would be interesting with all the nosey karens i see.
I've always been curious what you keep the live rats and muskrats for?
He uses them for training his minks and dogs back at home. You can see him using them in some of his mink training videos.
Them rats are thicc.
If UA-cam ever gives you enough money. How about investing in some Sonar/Radar equipment to map out the burrows?
What happens to the live rats that are caught?
Live prey training
What do you feed your minks do you chop up the life rat or other style of rotten like raccoons and so on
A mix of ground up muskrat, brown rat, rabbit, chicken, stuff like that.
Hi Mr! Do you need some kind of licensing to be able to hunt small critters and raccoon? Even if it's just for pest control reasons
It depends on the state you live in. Every state is different.
tnx for the video
How often do you get violently bitten???
Don’t muskrat help the creek? Why are they culled?
@mattym8 just like any animal in nature, when there are too many, they are destructive. Too many deer destroy the forest by eating all the plants. does the mink ever lose to a big rat?
Joseph, my dad told me that Muskies taste pretty good. Have you eaten any ?
Yes they are delicious! A lot like beef with a mild, almost liver like flavor. But they taste a lot more like beef than liver.
Can you sell the muskrat fur?
Yes, I do
👍❤️👍

Mink food, or eat them myself
I have a spot for you to hunt in Kansas city Missouri
why hunt muskrat?
you eat them.
Omg i remember i was first idk when dat was
Joe you need to invent a new way to put live rodents away. The way you do it is awkward and liable to let some loose.
@fgb3126 oh yeah I agree 100%! I almost never catch more than one or two at a time. This is literally a problem like once every 6 years lol
Your camera person should focus more on your mink missed some good shots he focused too much on you for this content

Did you kill them
Time stamp 2 minutes please wear gloves next time when holding a rat because they carry diseases.
Disappointing and misleading choice for a title.
Nonsense . Not misleading in any way
