- Recently, I played through the recent Endless Ocean sequel. Despite having Nintendo and Arika continue to be the publisher and developer respectively, the game felt rushed and a bit soulless. I may have found a short game to fill that Endless Ocean sized holed in your heart.

Nice video! My mum actually visited that basin in Tanzenia not too long ago, and I found your criticism of there being no local NPCs quite interesting since that's also a problem I have with Endless Ocean 2: there's no Micronesian NPCs within Pelago, which is why if I ever write an EO2 novelisation, I would probably racebend Oceané as half-Micronesian from her mum's side and then show her local family.
Also I saw 'Twilight Princess' on your shelf and that is my favourite video game -if not story- ever!
I do think more NPCs from the various places you visit would be interesting in Endless Ocean 2!
What is the goal of Luminous?
For the player, you want to preserve a supernatural coral reef (I have another Luminous video that goes in more detail)
For the publisher, it seems like the goal was to have a quick product with some brand recognition, but nothing beyond that

There are a few fish jumping out of a pond, but far fewer fish than Endless Ocean
Endless Ocean Luminous almost feels like a tech demo, and I wonder if it's because the Switch 2 is around the corner, and once that happens any new Switch games won't get much attention, if any at all, so they had to rush it. The basics of Luminous are great, the worldbuilding is great, they just need to do more with it. I will be truly saddened if they don't take what they've made and make a true Endless Ocean 3 for the Switch 2, because otherwise Luminous will just feel pointless. I'm having fun with the game, I like some of the lore, but it won't stick with me nearly as much as the first two. And it definitely isn't the sequel I hoped it would be. But if they use what they've learnt with Luminous to continue the series, I will be happy with Luminous. If not... I don't want to return to the almost futile feeling of hope for an Endless Ocean 3.
I was pretty disappointed with Luminous. I haven’t finished it, but I imagine that I will eventually. I don’t tend to hold onto hope for later entries in a series. I like Endless Ocean and Blue World, and that’s enough.
