    It's a retro toaster, that's why it has a retro cord..love it!

I was a bit reluctant to buy an "off brand" toaster, but the reviews on this one led me to take a chance.I was very pleased! ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxE7HOOpW0eh4vbVGAB_r_cURwoxZxpZPA The toast comes out evenly browned and I was surprised that the sides of the toaster do NOT get hot to the touch which is a great safety feature.I like the additional buttons for frozen foods, the emergency eject button, and the warming rack for rolls and other items. All in all, it was a good purchase and at the right price. Sure you can get fancier toasters, but for a premium price. This fulfills the basic duties of a toaster at a reasonable price.

When you say you don't care for the look of the cord. They designed it to match the retro look of the toaster.

Yeah, even calling it "ugly". I'm a 31 year old and even I can tell that the cord is made to match the retro design of the toaster itself.

Does your smeg toaster still work? I read that they don’t last long.

Is this from the same company that brought you the "Talkie Toaster"?

he's right about the colour matching cord, especially black.

WC HEAD. I would say it is matching the metallic part of all colors in the range! Black is really cheap looking. The only better option would be braided matching the main color, but still with grey plug 👍

I returned this one due to high price and two much plastic as the bottom base being made out of plastic. I ended up getting a real Vintage Sunbeam Radiant Toaster at the thrift store like new pretty much as was clean for $15 bucks still in box I don’t think it was used and cord was still good not brittle. So didn’t need restoration.
I don’t mind spending money if quality but the plastic and bottom no attention to detail and plastic look was a no go for me and prefer no electronics in a toaster. They sure have built like a real vintage toaster and full manual and spend the money in the Material instead and did a cloth black cord being they are trying to replicate 50’s era. Then the heating element is not as thick as I would expect for it price, same as a couple typical cheap toaster you can buy for $25 bucks. I not cheap because any means as spend over $700 on a blender, but $300 for a toaster that really no better then something I can buy new for $25 bucks is a huge no for me and doesn’t even heat evenly. The best toaster I used to date is the Sunbeam by a long shot as thick elements and from 1946. I have a kitchenaid bought back in mid 2000’s ok but not as good as the Sunbeam but better quality then this Smeg toaster as completely made out of metal with thick elements.
I love vintage look but they sure have used better materials and did a cloth cord with full manual control.

tbh it does not seem to toast evenly :/ at least not this time, did it get better with use?

cath harmony - Yeah it worked well, on par with any other toaster I owned. However I think the cost of this toaster is more likely associated with appearance than precision toasting instruments.

Smeg Toaster, is it a talking toaster? Will it constantly ask you if you want any toast?

I'll stick with my Mainstays $10 toaster. All they do is make toast. You're paying for the smug I mean smeg label

    • @UneFemmeSansNom
      @UneFemmeSansNom 3 роки тому +2

Paying for the design, not the label. People spend on things that look nice in addition to being useful - yourself included. So unless you have the cheapest possible furniture in the world (I’m talking $5 plastic chairs) since "all it does is give you somewhere to sit down and/or put stuff on" then you have no room to talk.

Ridiculous price which is not justified at all for what it is. "Looking good on your worktop" only prices something so high. The price is bizarre for what it is.

    • @UneFemmeSansNom

I find these types of comments silly. There are $10k couches which do nothing more or less than a $50 couch - but people buy them. Why? A $10 watch tells the same time as a $1k watch. So why buy the expensive one? A $1 shirt and a $20 shirt both do the same job - covering your torso. Yet I bet the shirt you’re wearing cost closer to $20 and you chose it because it "looked good" on you.
People spend $$$ on things _just_ because they look good. Otherwise we’d all own the cheapest possible version of literally everything.

Way too much and by this video it shows it doesn't brown evenly. For that money it should. My cheaper kitchenaid toaster has the same uneven browning. And I thought I paid way to much for it after finding that it has the uneven browning I was a little put off and the stupid beeping noise it has when it's ready. Do your research. There's one I have my eye on now but hard to justify it now that I have this stupid kitchenaid. grr... :)
