Its a strange kinda combination of prerendered DKC style visuals and almost a Living Pictures storybook and WarioWare, isn't it? I kinda feel like if this game had a vague story, maybe shown to the player in rhyme on little scrolls and with a few basic tutorial pointers for how to play, and the whole thing would be much more... accessible. And would probably of had more appeal. But for what its worth, I could totally see these graphics and audio working in a platformer, something much more conventional...
I think very, very young children who aren't yet old enough to appreciate what's "supposed" to be "normal" or "abnormal" likely wouldn't be unsettled by this, it's the slightly older, probably elementary school-age kids who have reached the age where they can better recognize "creepy" for whom this game might be nightmare fuel
I've yet to see a game where you control the protagonists, the antagonists and the Deusexmachina so masterfully... For a "kid's game" in 1994 this is a misunderstood transcending masterpiece.
yeah it actually unironically has one of the most unique control schemes/perspectives of any adventure game I've ever seen, which is another thing that makes me doubt that it's nothing more than visually stimulating nonsense for preschoolers, as putting that kind of creativity into how a game is controlled seems like a waste for an audience that'll hardly even interact with it at all, but then again I also don't really know what else it could reasonably be
Attention all Space Kids gamers, Zeedle needs your help to escape the evil Pirate Knife and save his grandpa! But to do this, he needs some smooth space jazz, and some doodle dip. To help him, all he needs is your mommy's credit card number, the three digits on the back, and the expiration month and year. But, you gotta be quick, so Zeedle can make his epic escape!
The glitched ending Vinny got happens when you press the right arrow instead of the up arrow on the last screen of the game. The game tries to repeat the cutscene where the moon flips the "THE END" letters over and blows them to the right.
This feels like the product of a childhood dominated by the kind of weird kids' shows they made in the '70s. Sid and Marty Krofft, old _Sesame Street_ episodes, the _Raggedy Ann_ movie... stuff that wasn't necessarily made on acid, but definitely influenced by a culture that was. It's even got the "DayGlo colors against a black void" aesthetic going on.
Sid and Marty Krofft shows were definitely actually just made on psychedelics, though (like, they may not have literally been on psychedelics during production, but you can't convince me those two didn't draw some of their ideas for characters, sets, and plots straight out of a psychedelic headspace)
I'm 22 minutes into this video. I feel like this is a young child's story who even drew the characters and their parents decided to code a game for them and release it to the public.
