This is excellently edited. Covers all the narrative beats, visual moments, character development, and makes very clear how the various personalities interact. Better than Marvel could, if they had to edit a reaction 👏👏
Fun Fact: Ethan Hawke being in this is why he has his little cameo in Glass Onion. He was already in Europe shooting the show so he was a nearby-ish and available when Rian asked him to pop in for that once scene
Speaking as someone who has a husband who has Dissociative Identity Disorder, this show is probably the most accurate portrayal of what it's like to both have D.I.D. and to have a loved one with it. My husband has 7 alters of various gender identities and sexualities and personal preferences. Sometimes they're all very social and present, sometimes some of them go dormant for months at a time. Luckily, they all love each other which makes things much easier. They've had a rough life, they've faced trauma that I can't ever be capable of fully comprehending, but I love all of them very much.
Oscar Issac delivered an incredible performance in this series. As a Brit, he really impressed me with Steven's accent. It wasn't always perfect, but it was way better than most attempts I've heard by US actors and there were times I completely forgot he wasn't British.
INTRIGUED AND EXCITED! My episodes to Episodes 4-6 won't be the NEXT video (as I'm still making my way through bringing Fallout reactions for you all), but it will be coming very soon! Oh KL, no word of a lie, you have literally just made my day, my week. Just from a glimpse at the thumbnail. So glad you like this. Moon Knight has been my favourite comic book character since I was a kid back in the 80's. When I heard they were going to do a TV show I was worried; I didn't know how. Then I watched it. In my mind, it's the single greatest video content (yes, including the movies...) ever created by Marvel. So nuanced, so subtle, yet complex, and heartfelt. I knew what was going on all the time but I was still anxious about what they would show. Episodes of this have made me laugh with joy, and cry in despair. That's power. That's craft. I was always a fan of the more off beat "superheroes" of Marvel Comics like Moon Knight, through all his incarnations from that guy who hunts werewolves, to the Batman style vigilante, even when he was a very odd choice as an Avengers team member (Wolverine was a once full time member too, so not all that odd), and the split personality, leaning heavily into the metaphysical aspects stuff, he's such a fascinating character. This MCU version is a bit of all of those, but mostly the split personality, paranormal aspect which I'm here for. Oscar Isaac's performance really carries it, though, for me. The next few episodes, you might want to get a tissue, if you thought Wandavision was emotionally scarring, hoo boy
KL you are legitimately my favorite reactor, not only just because of your reactions, which I know, would seem semi-counterintuitive but let me cook 😅: the way in which you react invites a positive response. You don't go into your reactions with a hard-lined prejudice beforehand. You're honest about what you know and what you don't know before the reaction begins. You think it through with us, as you go along. It's incredibly engaging and super sweet because I think you GET the purpose of what you're doing... Which is ironically what a lot of reactors have forgotten. Thank you!
One aspect that I loved about this series is the trailer for it. It basically all came from the first episode. It was enough to hook you and didn't spoil anything for later episodes. Most other Marvel show trailers had some scene from later episodes which people analyzed to death, or was just a huge spoiler.
I think this is a comic you would love, several seasons, the old, first starts off as a kind of Batman character. Each new volume though they retconned and the character got more complex until you end up roughly with this series. Personally watching this got me to learn much more about DID & from there watching lots of reactors with DID. That alone helped me understand more, but also the difficult job Marvel undertook with this show. To be respectful of the character, the lore, of the condition. Love this show.
Oscar Isaac is amazing, in everything, of course, but especially that scene in the pyramid. While everyone else is talking more or less normally, he shows us that Marc isn't used to the feeling of Khonshu speaking through him and it's more like he's forcing his voice through him. His switch from Marc to Steven near the end there was fantastic, too. The whole "turning back the night sky" part is a bit silly since there are literally phone and tablet apps that will let you do that exact thing. They do get less accurate the further from now you look, but we're talking over millions of years for any significant drifting, not tens of thousands. I give them a break, though because Marc's a merc, Steven's a gift shoppist with a special interest in Egyptian mythology, Layla's an archaeologist/treasure hunter/Egyptian Indiana Jones, and Khonshu is ancient. The first three aren't likely to know much about modern astronomy or that such tools are available and Khonshu's never had a phone, he probably doesn't even know what an app is.
Not being one of the "core" Marvel characters, I think this series kind of flew under the radar for a lot of fans. A shame too, since it's so well done, and Oscar Issacs is brilliant in the role. Happy to see you giving it some much needed attention.
Yesss! I’m so glad that it’s come time for Moon Knight! Definitely my second favorite Disney+ Marvel show, only behind Loki. Great reaction and editing as always
Hey Kaielle. I’ll reserve my real opinion on this series after you put, the other three episodes out. That being said I think the 3 lead actors (Ethan Hawke, May Calamawy & Oscar Isaac), did a very good job in this series. This series is the most disconnected series from the MCU to this point. A lot of people find that enjoyable or refreshing. I find it confusing. You can watch nearly any other movie or tv series if you want something that “stands” on its own. However, the entire point of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is that this is the ONLY franchise where characters and stories from different places (seemingly unconnected) are all apart of the SAME cinematic universe snd may some day all criss cross paths. That is such a cool thing… why are people against that?
I had SO much fun with Moon Knight. I'm so glad you are, too! Oscar is just completely captivating in this role. The sets, the action, the mystery, it really just hooked me from episode one - so important in short series! Do you ever watch the behind-the-scenes docu episodes for shows/movies? I found the Moon Knight one super interesting because it discussed Oscar's process for the role, as well as comic book lore I was missing. Would recommend!
Lentil soup is my comfort food, my mom cooks it for me twice a month lol I’m sure the Chilean version is close to ours in Argentina. Anyway, I need to rewatch this show, so underrated amongst all marvel shows!
Love Moon Knight this character deserve some love and I think this is a great intro to the character hopefully this is not the last time we see him in action. :D
IIRC, Moon Knight first showed up in the comic "Werewolf By Night" - which has since had a one-shot, classic horror cinema-style adaptation, I highly recommend! A lot of these more offbeat, slightly darker stories started off in Marvel's bigger horror titles before getting their own spin-offs - another example would be Blade who popped up in "Tomb of Dracula". Then there's a fun little crossover in the movie Blade: Trinity, where the character 'Jack Russell' (aka the titular Werewolf By Night, though not a werewolf in the movie) is played by Ryan Reynolds, in a role that definitely presaged him getting to play Deadpool
@@magpieMOB no worries, these things happen. I've lost count of the number of times I've posted comments on UA-cam only to discover I've got something wrong.

My favorite Marvel show. There's so much to talk about but I'll restrict myself to: 1. My usual comment that so much drama could have been avoided if Marc or Khonshu had just asked the gods to have Harrow roll up his sleeve...and 2. F. Murrey Abraham as Khonshu was casting genius. I think the way the writers ( in both the show and the comics) handled him as a being whose personality and ethics were established in the eye-for-an-eye bronze age but who has been influenced to at least a small degree by the modern age is really interesting. It's arguable how fair it really is to judge him by modern standards. He's a little like that elderly relative you have that's kinda racist but does it through entrenched ignorance rather than hate.
Is that a Jinjer shirt I see before me? I love that a movie/show reactor happens to be wearing a shirt for one of the most watched "music reaction" bands 🤣
I keep getting caught off guard when you try to like Harrow. His judgment of future actions is terrifying. It negates any thought of self-determination.
One of my favorite comic book characters, and even though this isn’t “perfect”, it’s still a pretty good show and I agree that Oscar Isaac does an excellent job as the various “characters”.
The show does a phenomenal job of portraying mental illness, but the aspect I like in particular is how the stigma of it affects a person. All Marc/Steven want is to get on with their lives or their mission. Obviously Steven loses his job and lose out on his date, Marc lost his marriage, and who knows what else. But Harrow uses that stigma against him in the court of the Gods as a way to discredit Khonshu. They now look at Khonshu abusing this poor man who needs help (as they should) but they don't consider anything else about the claims. And you can read it on Marc/Steven's faces how ashamed they are of this. During that same court, Marc look truly ashamed that they were all pitying him and that he couldn't get them to listen because of this issue. Then again when they're at the end and Layla's telling Marc to give into Steven, you can see Marc just not wanting to talk about or deal with this right now, hence in his anger ripping off the mirror without a word to Layla. Nevermind Khonshu constantly saying things about Steven and Marc having to act the whole time like he's holding things together, but just barely When you're dealing with mental illness, there are times where you're just like "For crying out loud, can I not deal with this right now?!!!" I've not yet seen a show that more perfectly captured that
I kind of think it's a shame you were spoiled about the DiD in the blurb before watching it, i think part of the fun of the first episode is figuring out what is going on with Steven and his blackouts and how you don't see Marc's side of things until Steven finds out about Marc sort of bringing you into the whole experience.
Yeah, Disney+ is BRUTAL with their one sentence that explained the show. There are so many better ways they could have written it that doesn't spoil anything. I'm sad my eyes saw it.
Moon knight first appeared in 1975 in a werewolf by night comic I know the team marvel is assembling in all these shows as a bridge to something really big but the supernatural is now in marvel, not mystical or divine magic, but wierd supernatural stuff is here
Marc Spector has always had multiple voices in his head if DID was a comic book character oh yeah Marc has it i have it myself when i see a good story about it i have point it out, now i personally have never seen this series, been holding off but I have a reaction channal comeing in july
Yeah, you’ll find with most of these Marvel Disney+ shows is that they’re too short and feel like a movie chopped up into episodes. But overall with this show it has been really good, glad you’re enjoying it 👍❤
I was like you watching the first time. I knew as much as you did. Who done it shows challenge my detective skills and this show had me flummoxed. Speculation didn’t work for me on this. I think they did pretty well at setting the mystery of what’s real; what’s not. ✌️😎👍💕
The only problem I have with the end of the third episode is that there are literally hundreds of apps and programs that can show what the sky looks like at any given time.
Great reaction, it’s a shame that the blurb for this spoiled the DID for you though. Why would they even put that in there? Even though it becomes pretty clear by the end of the first episode that Steven/mark has DID, there’s something special about going into the show not knowing about it up front. Oh well. There’s plenty of other mystery and great stuff in the show, so… enjoy!
I know, I was so mad. Disney+ literally says "Mild-mannered Steven Grant has dissociative identity disorder and shares a body with a mercenary." Like, there are 1000 better explanations for this show that I can think of that doesn't spoil so much LOL
@@kaiiellethis show was so much fun to watch for the first time blind. Still one of my favorites to this day. This, WandaVision, and Andor are the best Disney+ shows, some of the best serial shows period actually. Looking forward to the rest of your reactions to this series.
Charles xayvior son is on the fx short lived series legion, now David is an official autistic, mutant with his father's psychic powers, but DID being what is is legion a very special person whos psychic power is different in ever variant, cause he needs to be the poster child for DID
Very few films have even bothered to portray DID characters in a sympathetic light. More times than not, they are villains, nutjobs. It's as if doing research on the subject was too much to be bothered with. I applaud this show for what it's done.
I do have DID, here is the reality this condition has always existed all of human history astually, DID is just a new branding for a previous known condition, but since its the same condition just renamed so many times it's really hard for Dr. To be up to date on it, mental issues, and i use the word issues, because intellgence is nothing to do what what the mind can do. Holly wood is really close to what goes on in my head my entire life and starting at 17 fight club was the first i could see that didn't involve time travel to show what happens with insomnia. And without something in your system 10 days with out sleep will kill you
Thanks! Normally I don't LOL. I did mention in the intro that I happened to see the blurb about the character having DID before I pressed play on Ep 1. But I've also seen other stories of DID portrayed, so kinda knew what to look for!
Depending on how many varriants you personally have you have to constantly be at war with cause varients are just other people with vast different points of view, and the the Hollywood trope of comforting out body's, Holly wood does exaggerate this a lot for me it's muscle contortions when my strength an adrenalin is off the scale, this variant i have full control over but the variant that has in charge which ever one is the real person, i know who the real me is the variants only i know but some are extremely noticeable, why must we be 1 person at a time

Yeah, Disney+ is BRUTAL with their one sentence that explained the show. There are so many better ways they could have written it that doesn't spoil anything. I'm sad my eyes saw it.
Moon knight first appeared in 1975 in a werewolf by night comic I know the team marvel is assembling in all these shows as a bridge to something really big but the supernatural is now in marvel, not mystical or divine magic, but wierd supernatural stuff is here
I miss my boys so muuuuch, where is SEASON 2 MARVEL!!!!
Patients @kka0192. They will make Moon Knight Season 2 soon.
Great reaction. Great Jinjer shirt.
In the comics marc has five differnet personalits and he also impersionate other heros like wolvrinie, spiderman and captian america
Interesting fact: the rich guy who had the sarcophagus, he died in an accident not long after this series was released.
Haha truth, it's just cooler to not use them. 😅
@@kaiielleand way less cinematic! (Using them)
Great reaction, it’s a shame that the blurb for this spoiled the DID for you though.
@@calibadgerdude6082 I definitely agree with that. Andor is my favourite live-action show that has come out of Star Wars so far.
Charles xayvior son is on the fx short lived series legion, now David is an official autistic, mutant with his father's psychic powers, but DID being what is is legion a very special person whos psychic power is different in ever variant, cause he needs to be the poster child for DID
JINJER!!! 🤘😈🤘
And without something in your system 10 days with out sleep will kill you
Suck a great show! It's a very fun character.
You pick up on things real quick.
Thanks! Normally I don't LOL. I did mention in the intro that I happened to see the blurb about the character having DID before I pressed play on Ep 1. But I've also seen other stories of DID portrayed, so kinda knew what to look for!
Fan forever. soz about earlier. ^_^
Depending on how many varriants you personally have you have to constantly be at war with cause varients are just other people with vast different points of view, and the the Hollywood trope of comforting out body's, Holly wood does exaggerate this a lot for me it's muscle contortions when my strength an adrenalin is off the scale, this variant i have full control over but the variant that has in charge which ever one is the real person, i know who the real me is the variants only i know but some are extremely noticeable, why must we be 1 person at a time
LAYLA!
✌️❤️❤️!....
"I want to trust Arthur..."
Why would you trust the guy advocating preemptive child murder? Like Steven said, seems like a red flag...
Because it's Ethan Hawke. 😂
