- Welcome to Old Vs Young Reactions This is a music reaction channel. My dad and I love music and talking about it. But sometimes we don't agree and that's where the fun comes in. Join us for a good time and some great songs. We are part of a family of six. The four kids range from 24 to 13. There is never a dull moment.

Welcome to Band-Maid gents! The best hard rock band I have heard in my 58 years on this planet. They don't stick to any one genre and often mix genres in songs. They are extremely diverse and have an extensive back catalogue featuring Punk, Pop-Punk, Hard-Rock, Classic Rock, Metal, Prog, Blues, Jazz, Groove, Rap etc. From face melting 220 bpm punk-prog to ballads, instrumentals to acoustics they do it all. They can make you headbang, they can make you pogo, they can make you cry like a baby. They are also five of the nicest people in music, without a shred of ego. They are funny and fun and world class musicians to boot. They are currently into their 11th year with the original line up.

Btw, Miku the rhythm guitarist (red rose) formed the band. She had the idea of Band-Maid after working as a maid in Japanese maid cafe's. Her idea is a concept called "The Gap" - that is what you see (cute maids) is NOT what you get (Hard Rock/Punk/Metal). They take the maid café concept literally. They call their concerts "servings" and their fans "Masters and Princesses". Oh, and Miku is an 810 year old small pigeon. Welcome to the pigeon hole Po!

"Alone" was the first song after three albums that Band-Maid was allowed to write, produce, and record on their own by their management company. Shortly afterward, they changed management companies and started writing and recording their own music. About 120 songs and five albums later, Band-Maid is gaining a huge following on the internet (especially UA-cam). Last November they celebrated their 10th Anniversary Tour finale in Yokohama. Previous to the finale, they toured the U.S. and played in Mexico City and Hong-Kong. They released a Blu-Ray DVD of the 3 hour and 40 minute long concert. One of the biggest videos that was released on their official UA-cam channel was "Hate?". It is an amazing hard rock banger worth reacting to. It shows how far these petite, young Japanese females have come in their musical careetrs.

Like most Band-Maid songs, I like them from the get-go but really start to appreciate them after more hearings and seeing their LIVE videos. I'll go back and see an older song like YOLO, Order, Shake That, Freezer, Don’t Let Me Down, Before Yesterday, Real Existence, Non Fiction Days and Alone, etc. and realize there's no band that can consistently construct and play like Band-Maid.

Great reaction, guys! Band-Maid is just about the best hard rock / rock you're going to find anywhere in the world right now. They have a huge catalog, where Alone is fairly early on, but check out any of the songs that they did a their recent Yokohama arena show, e.g. Hate, for more fun. BTW, the more recent songs all have captions.

💃Their LIVE videos are mostly superior to the official studio MVs, but the MVs are also excellent!
🎵 Many songs have catchy phrases or singalong sections to engage the audience. Many songs are in English and Japanese. Most songs are full of joy as well.
🥳 They enjoy performing. They enjoy the fans. They enjoy each other.
I don't know of any other band where the fans' playlists differ so much. So, this is just a quite random selection of songs: For some very special live videos try Freedom, Play, Real existence and Endless Story. With Moratorium (Live at Zepp), Rinne (MV) and Dice you can hear more hard rock while a more catchy song is Choose me (LIVE). And if you want to hear some ballads then maybe About Us (MV) and Daydreaming (MV) are good picks. But don't miss some of their instrumentals like From now on (MV) and Onset (Live). And finally a very special live performance is Manners/Blackhole (Official Online Live)🍌 And there is more: For example the songs with Miku in lead, their christmas acoustic concert and the 'cover band' Band-Maiko ;-)

I stumbled upon Band-Maid when Thrill came across my recommended list, listened to and loved it. So i thought I'm gonna try another and it was this song. At 4:10 when Kanami's solo led into the chorus I must have listened to that at least 50 times, amazing timing and so original. I was absolutely hooked. Incredible song writing, everyone song with a blistering chorus and when I watch their incredible live stuff, they play their instruments and move like pure rock stars, I absolutely love this band.

We attempted to make the video bigger but got hit by copyright so we had to shrink it.

@@oldvsyoungreactions Thanks for the reply. Hmm, that's strange. Normally Band-Maid and their record label are pretty good about copyright strikes. It's possible that it's because it's the old record label.
