It was so successful that afterwards they fully took control of their song creation and became the band they are today. I consider this the 2nd most important song in their history after Thrill. If you want to compare MV vs Live, then do Domination. They have an MV (that is oddly low volume) and an official live on their page. Do a double reaction with both versions. That song is probably the most popular go to for live vs MV.
Once they were left "Alone" by their record / management companies to create what they wanted, well... look what they did. Alone's somewhat sad, heavy yet empowering story (topics Miku's known for writing about), up against Kanami's up-tempo, complex yet rockin' music is quintessential Band-Maid. BAND-MAID is an important influence and contributor to the music industry with a continuous, growing worldwide fanbase. But to me, they are just the best sounding, best writers of hard rock music, and the most fun, joyous group of musicians to come along since the Beatles! Thx, Josh!

You say about their "all over the place" style of songs, you might wanna check out "Daydreaming". One of the best "rock ballads" (in my opinion only) I have ever heard with a guitar solo that comes outta nowhere and will stick in your mind for the rest of your days. Many more years of enjoyment ahead from these ladies.
One reason Band-Maid is great LIVE is because the music is produced in a music studio, like their music videos. Their LIVE videos show their precision, raw talent and energy while performing LIVE, but "sound wise" there's no difference. I'll get crucified for this but don't care. You're doing it correctly, IMHO, by watching the "music videos" first then go to LIVE. Personally I prefer the music videos because they themselves stand alone as works of art so you get double the pleasure watching and listening, plus the videos set up the LIVE performances. I can prove this be their music video "Manners". If you watch the LIVE stream first it's just a song, but when you watch the music video it opens up the song as a living work of art and puts a new meaning to the song. Cheers

It doesn't really matter where you go next, harder or softer, you're almost guaranteed a banger. It kind of depends on what you'd prefer, as long as you don't forget their April Fool's Day persona BAND-MAIKO. That's has more of a Japanese Traditional sound. You should probably start that with 'Secret My Lips'.
If you want to listen to a harder song you can check their music video of "rinne" but really It's crazy how they mix genres in all their albums you can get some really good rock ballads , or some kickass hardrock and even songs that really sounds like metal.

Their next release, on 11/16/16, was an EP, "YOLO", where all songs were by them. The MV for "YOLO" is on their YT channel. This EP also started the Band-Maid tradition that the "B" sides are as good or better than the "A" sides of their EPs.

It's just an amazing performance, that I usually listen to once a day. I don't know if you have already reacted to it, but YOLO should be right up your alley. It's similar and dissimilar at the same time. If my memory serves me, this was an original composition of Kanami's when she joined Miku to kick off Band Maid. As was said below in other comments, they didn't start to use their own creations until Alone proved to be a true mega-hit, and YOLO is another rather eclectic piece that shows Kanami's genius not only at composition, but playing the guitar and making it sing to you as if it was another vocalist. I couldn't keep track of how many reactors make comments about YOLO where they will say "that's not supposed to work like that, but it DOES !!!!!". Every time I hear any Band Maid song it just reinforces my opinion, and a multitude of others also, about how much of a creative musical genius Kanami is. And then she takes her creations and just shreds them like wood going into a chipper, lol. Another really good one is The Non-Fiction Days, just an amazing performance.
@@MaidFrenzy The first rock show I ever went to was in 1961 in Jersey City, New Jersey to see Joey Dee and the Starliters do The Peppermint Twist and was hooked from that night on. I've pretty much everything there is to see from then to now and Band Maid tops them all in the variety of genres they dabble in and the exquisite compositions that Kanami writes. And THEN they go out and perform as technically perfect as any other classic rock group I've ever heard......and they are getting BETTER every time they release a new title. I've seen them three times between October 2022 and today and the only other live shows I've been to that can match them, in my opinion, are The Doors at the Cafe Au Go Go in LA in 1968 and The Young Rascals and the original iteration of Blood, Sweat and Tears in NYC in 1967. Other than that, they remind me a bit of an all female band called Fanny that came about in the mid-to-late 1960's that became quite popular and groundbreaking in an era that was tough for female musicians who didn't fit the mold that music at that time were looking for. Band Maid has that perfect combination of talent, drive and a total lack of personal ego. They all work together towards the common gold and have been wildly successful. I just adore them.
If you like Rock it's hard not like BAND-MAID. Don't forget to listen to the MV for the instrumental FROM NOW ON, a rock/metal/prog anthem as only the Awesome BAND-MAID can effectuate. Only 120 more to go. Peace. 38.3
