I think Micha Charoudin mentioned in his video yesterday that the oncomming Winds on Döttinger Höhe were 27km/h that day, maybe that is a thing on that aero-monster.
GT Racing for Porsche always be like that, they designed for cornering but bit slower to straight because their downforce created drag on straight in exchange for more stable in corners. Its like how Viper ACR only have 170mph top speed but they make insane handling due tons of downforce in corners unlike their siblings who have 200+mph top speed but love oversteer on corners. If we still remember a "car" that was so broken that Brabham making it for F1, Chapparal 2E is the pinnacle of downforce with using "Active Aero" system where you can cheat by using buttons for cornering and straight line followed by 2J where you can make 1 ton of downforce during corners hence called "Sucker car"
This really shows that, regardless the amount of horsepower, the most important thing you need to have on the Nordschleife is excellent aero, excellent brakes, an excellent suspension/chassis setup and obviously a massive pair of gentlemen balloons.

just noticed that the Porsche car silhouette in the middle has active aero illustrations and the canards and rear wing animations move whenever they're deployed in the car, what a nice little touch! also as others pointed out, can reallllly see the downforce in action.
6:44.8 in the 20.6 km section. This is a SUPER impressive laptime. Around 3 seconds faster than the old GT2 RS. Over 11 seconds faster than the old GT3 RS. Around the same time as the Aventador SVJ. Just a second or so slower than the AMG GT Black Series. This is one of the fastest lapping production cars in the Nurburgring.
I’ve just compared some of the minimum apex speeds to the AMG GT BS record lap and we’re talking 15-18 kph difference on 200 kph corners! It’s unreal but also highlights how much of a power circuit the Nring is. On smaller tighter tracks which car journalists use this will set many records.
Everyone’s talking about the car, but the driver did an amazing job on this lap. That type of driving requires incredible skill, concentration and huge bolas.
I read the Name Jörg Bergmeister and all i can think about are these mental last laps at Laguna Seca ALMS 2009 against Magnusson, legendary! Also congrats to Porsche and Jörg for that solid 6:49,328! Everybody that didnt know what i talk about, search for it, watch it!

Just a lazy 289km/h for a flat 6. That long haul in 5th gear early on in the last half of the lap is mesmerising. What a lap Jorg and what a car! Edit : 992 GT3RS is my favourite car ... hands down.
Absolutely love that he had to contend with a large bug-splat on the windscreen half-way through the run (~3:30 mark)… going 250kmph no less. Not sure I’d have the brass to reach for the windshield wiper switch at that speed. Well done.

I personally think it’s the most confidence-inspiring car… but that’s actually more dangerous since you can get too comfortable and take too much risks.

@@FrankFiene a regular 991.2 GT2 RS wasn’t much faster than this car. The 911.2 GT2 RS MR was about 10 seconds faster but that car was kind of fudging the rules of “Production car”.
You can just see how little correction the GT3RS needs around the lap. The rear of that Porsche is just so planted and stable, wish I lived in Germany to experience that for myself.
I felt like the 1st sector wasn't his best but the last few sectors of the lap were Godly... well done.. also when the that bird dropped on the screen it hurt us all

What amazes me is how quickly he gets on the throttle coming out of every turn. I guess it does help if you have no emotional or financial attachment to the car!!!
Not to discredit Jörg or anything.... But does anyone else think it looked a bit like a sub optimal lap? There's probably another 2 or even 3 seconds still to find, no? Either way, amazing time, this is why Porsche is THE BEST!

It's totally insane considering it's quite "slow" in the straights. Cornering speeds are crazy, so much higher than any other road car.

Downforce on this car is crazy. It's definitely slower on the straights but absolutely planted through corners
GT2 and Nismo GTR both hit 315 kph.. so corner speed outrageous..

This car beat the Pagani's time, Pagani's lap time was for the 20.6km track length.

The gearing was perfectly match for the back straight, hitting the rev limiter before the final sequence of corners/chicane
You can really see the difference the downforce makes. Compression sounds are amazing
