After the success of Suicide Squad, Harley Quinn has become a household name. Harley Quinn costumes and Harley Quinn cosplay have taken the world by storm, but the origin of Harley Quinn goes back 25 years. Harley Quinn got her start in Batman: The Animated Series, created by Paul Dini. Animated Harley Quinn was based on an old friend of Paul Dini: Arleen Sorkin. Harley Quinn started out as a one-shot henchwoman, but soon she became an essential aspect of the character of the Joker. Harley Quinn and The Joker have one of the deepest, darkest and most toxic relationships in any form of literature, but it doesn’t define the character of Harley Quinn. Joker might be the man behind her madness, but that doesn’t mean Harley Quinn can’t look cool in her original Harley Quinn costume. The traditional jester Harley Quinn costume is an essential part of Harley Quinn history and it stuck with her for years, throughout the various incarnations of Batman: The Animated Series, The Batman, and her first appearances in Harley Quinn comics for DC. It would take an occasion as important as a video game for Harley Quinn to get her first real makeover.
2009’s videogame Batman: Arkham Asylum gave us the first changes to the Harley Quinn costume, and the evolution of Harley Quinn continued beyond Arkham Asylum. Harley Quinn also appeared in Batman: Arkham City. Harley Quinn made her final appearance in the Arkham series in Batman: Arkham Knight. Harley Quinn’s more revealing gothic lolita appearance was controversial, but it was also a huge success, and soon the Harley Quinn comics copied the look in the DC New 52 Harley Quinn comics. Her Harley Quinn costume got even skimpier, and she dumped the Harley Quinn makeup after Joker dumped her in a chemical vat. Still, Harley Quinn fans continued to grow in number, and Harley Quinn’s popularity only increased. And when in the hands of artists like Amanda Conner, Harley Quinn looked less like a pin-up and more like a tough, fun loving roller derby athlete. With the release of the Margot Robbie Harley Quinn Suicide Squad movie, the DC comics Harley Quinn changed to look even more like her live-action counterpart, which is surprising considering that it wasn’t the first appearance of a live action Harley Quinn.
Before the 2017 Batman and Harley Quinn movie, Batman was going to meet Harleen Quinzel in the sequel to Batman and Robin, Batman Unchained or Batman Triumphant. Can you imagine a Madonna Harley Quinn or a Courtney Love Harley Quinn? Well, we never got to see that, but a Harley Quinn live action debut occurred in the TV show Birds of Prey. Harley Quinn was actually the main villain of the show, even though she’s more of a criminal mastermind than a deranged lovelorn lunatic. Another show that almost got Harley Quinn? Arrow. The Arrow Harley Quinn easter egg was sadly the only time we’d see her in the show, but for an Arrow easter egg, Harley Quinn was a great choice. Finally, before we get to the Suicide Squad Harley Quinn, Margot Robbie and her baseball bat’s star performance, we should address whether Barbara Keane is a Gotham Harley Quinn. Will the show ever really feature Harley Quinn? Gotham creators have said no, but who knows? Finally, we’ve come to the 2016 Suicide Squad movie, starring a Jared Leto Joker and a Margot Robbie Harley Quinn. This is the Harley Quinn / Joker pair that has captured the world’s imagination, and even if the Suicide Squad movie wasn’t so great, it did introduce the masses to Harley Quinn. Who knows? Will we see a Harley Quinn Gotham City Sirens? Or a Joker and Harley Quinn movie? Or maybe she’ll get a standalone Harley Quinn movie in the DCEU. Harley Quinn is an amazing character regardless, with an amazing Harley Quinn costume.

My favorite version of Harley is the 'Assault on Arkham' version. The outfit is a perfect mix between her classic look with a modern twist. However, if I were in charge of designing her outfit, one of her Combat Boots would be Red, she'd have one Red and one Black Fingerless Glove with the same spiked bracelets and the balls on her Jester Hat would be Silver or White. The Jester Collar would be White as well. Also, I loved Hynden Walch as her voice actor and wish they'd bring her back for more Harley stuff.
I agree; say what you will about "Suicide Squad." It DID succeed in giving Harley Quinn her due in a big-budget, live-action superhero flick.
I still love classic Harley. I always switch to it when I play Arkham Knight.

Harley Quin is my favorite!!! And yeah even though I was very disappointed with Suicide Squad I still love it and have seen it a million times. I think I'm the only person that prefers the sexy punky Harley over jester Harley, her asylum outfit is my favorite.
She has had many looks and I hope many more because it works well with her character

she's become more popular since this vid came out, she was in birds of prey and she's gonna be in James Gunn's the suicide squad and her costume in that is awesome. She also has her own DC universe animated show which is incredible

I like the new 52 outfit and the ones she wore in the Arkham games but tbh I really like the outfit she had in Injustice 2 for one weird reason: she has the bat symbol on the back of her red leather jack with her diamond symbol in that to show here allegiance to Batman and remaining one of the good guys while also being independent. Plus here arch in that game is wonderful especially how she comes to terms with the abuse she suffered at Joker's hand. Harley FTW!

Harley Quinn is my favorite villain too.
She just fits exactly into the mould what I want in a villain: mentally insane, dark/twisted but lovable. You want to be friends with her, because crazy fun stuff would happen, but she'd be the death of you because of her crazy side.
also I personally find her backstory why she became a villain really interesting, because it's psychologically interesting and it's not the old power hungry dude story.
My favorite costume is the suicide squad one, because it's more realistic. Someone could actually wear it.
I'm not the biggest fan of the jester outfit, because I don't see someone run around in it, but it's still interesting and different, which makes it way better than the Arkham Asylum one.
btw: I agree with you. I really liked Suicide Squad. Story wise it was just a standard superhero movie, but the Joker, Harley, Deadshot, killer croc and El Diablo were fantastic. They also had great background stories.
If only the story had been better and the characters a bit more darker. I read that they had other plans, but had to change it, because the studio wanted the movie to be more family friendly.
I think that in wake of the leaked photos, and test screening, you should do the joker next
I really like the harley from the telltale game, she only puts makeup on her eyes and they finally dyed her hair red and black again. Shes got the corset from arkham but a leather jacket over it.

Barbara Keen IS NOT Harley Quinn. To be honest, she's more a female Joker. And I think she was supposed to be their Joker, but Cameron Monaghan's Jerome became too famous on the show, so they can't get rid of him.

You don't want to know my favorite version of Harley, the one where she's a raccoon.
My favorite is probably the Arkham City or the Arkham Knight version. I feel like those games (the Arkham games in general) nailed it, not just with Harley, but with all of the Batman villains and with Batman himself (and his allies). What "Arkham" does right is that it understands how to modernize characters without breaking them. Many recent DC movies, and especially Star Wars movies (ugh... TLJ) have made the mistake of not only revamping characters appearances to suit a more modern era, but also revamping characters personalities and traits... which we don't want. People love the characters for... the characters, and so we don't really want to see those characters stop being themselves (looking at you Luke, lol). Appearances can go to far in the direction of change as well... a character should still be easily recognizable as themselves, maintaining all their old traits, just slightly edited or with some new ones added in. Arkham does this perfectly. Harley in City, for example, has her jester hat swapped out for the now iconic painted pigtails, her old uniform swapped out for a slightly (but not overly) more revealing outfit, and that's about it. It still maintains the same patterns we're used to seeing, the same checkered style look, the same "skintight" style (only with the addition of a mild seperation between her top and her pants and of course the controversial yet undeniably more modern clevage) the same diamond logo right where we expect to see it. It's still Harley, still looks like Harley, anyone who saw OG Harley would still recognize Arkham City Harley as... Harley, without being told beforehand, but her look is less "unrealisticly animation-y" and more "true to the comic but believably modern". Arkham Knight largely maintains this, only really mixing it up by adding the skirt (which fits well and is cute😂). While yes Arkham started the trend of "sexy Harley" they didn't by any means turn her into a purely sexual character or make her into some sort of half dressed wannabe stripper (she's got noticably more clothes on than she has skin showing, which is important, lol). She's modern, but she's still her.
This applies to Harleys character too, which I think is the most important part. In the Arkham games, she maintains her OG animated personality in its entirety (which Sucide Squad didn't really)... she's still quirky, fun and lovable, still a victim of the joker, yet madly in love with him despite his showing little in return, and she is still a multi-dimensional character who is a villain, has a crazy side, yet is highly sympathetic and maintains an odd child like innocence (which in my opinion her recent film iteration ditches). Heck, this is symbolize perfectly by Arkham Asylums voice for Harley... her original animated series voice actress... Arlene Sorkin... and not just Harley but all the characters. Joker is still portrayed by Mark Hamill (the only true voice of the Joker, lol) and still looks like his comic counterpart. Batman is still Conroy Batman, only with a mildly more mechanized batsuit, and so on. Penguin is still a short guy with a British accent and an attitude, but he's ditched the top hat and the monocle in favor of a glass shoved over his eye (he still looks recognizable, just once again, more modern). Two Face keeps his half and half look, only with some graphically enhanced scarring. Scarecrow maintains his "scarecrow" style face and his "shades of brown" look, only with the removal of the hat in favor of a hood and the addition of needles on his fingers. Riddler adopts a series of clothes with his iconic question marks on them... not unitards but suits and dress shirts that fit a more modern audience. Some characters don't really change at all (Catwoman keeps her catsuit, just with a bit of clevage showing through a zipper not quite pulled up all the way, and they didn't do much in the way of altering Black Masks look).
My point is that all these characters stayed true to their comic and cartoon predecessors, maintaining their personalities and traits just as we've always known and loved them, only with the addition of some mildly (but not too much so) adapted appearances that give them a more modern flare.
So yes, Arkham Harley Quinn is best Harley Quinn😂 (also I like her story arc in Arkham... especially how Arkham Knight hints more than once that she's grown without Joker, even while still mourning him, and that he was holding her back in terms of skill and ability, as she became a powerful crime boss in her own right without him).
And she’s doing a new movie called birds of prey I love Harley so I’m definitely gonna watch It!

my favorite version of HQ is BTAS. Hands down. It gets no better. M.R. was really the only saving grace of suicide squad. I mean, big Willy did the best he could and I enjoyed it, but it felt too much like WWW meets GotH to me. That KC BET scene didn't do it no favors.
honestly i also liked suicide squad (i did told my friends that it could have easily been my favorite dc movie if they had the joker stay dead in the end) i also i loved that you brought birds of prey up, a show that not many people know (also not many people should, is awful and so ooc but) is good that you didn't just turn a blind eye on it :)

Yeah, in the new Harley Quinn cartoon, he abandoned Harley on a ship so she could be caught by Batman, and that was in the first episode of season 1. That show is full of swearing.

Yeah, I didn't care for the wonky editing in the first half hour, but I otherwise liked Suicide Squad. I enjoy this channel's willingness to say nice things about DC's movies (flawed as they are). As for Harley's suit, it will always be the original costume in my mind.

I think you are missing the point that she is providing you with the info you want to know then she is giving out her opinion which creates the conversation. It's no different then watching Phili DeFranco, Phil gives the information then gives his opinion and asks for yours. I actually love this format. Keep it up kya!
Seriously, she does a great job covering the info and delivering it. Her giving personal opinions as well gives the video a great, relatable feel to it. You might as well just go look things up yourself as it seems like you're the type whom does not like other people's opinions.
