I'm suprised your huge steel balls don't clang while you walk. You do this solo as well? Wow. You are a true urban explorer of the highest order... Subbed.
I was the projectionist upstairs man I wished you would have went up one of the stairways to get their. The mold was an issue we had with 8 and 10. The AC units wasn’t working and the owner did not want to fix them. He paid for a service to clean them(looked like the moon landing if it was fake) cost 25000 a theater and the mold came back. This video bought me back. Tha ks
I hung out here all the time as a kid, from the early 90's....I remember how excited my friends and I were when they put in that movie theater. Doesn't seem that long ago
1. Love that you explore with a code and don't f**k stuff up. Abandoned buildings are so much cooler and creepier when left untouched. And people who feel the need to break random things must lead extremely sad existences. 2. Those sculptures in this mall are STUNNING. They should be sold. 3. very odd that so much was left inside even ater it was abandoned. Usually even a dying mall is more cleaned out than this. any idea why it was left in such a hurry?
So many memories from this mall. I grew up in Spanish Lake and I remember back in the 80s and early-mid 90s this mall was hopping. My earliest memory is going to the Baskin Robins as a child. We would take the bus there almost every weekend.
I work in security and I have to say..One of the dumbest things people do when a business shuts down is leave stuff in it..They should take everything with them because it makes these abandoned buildings targets. One of the buildings I patrol was once the world's largest printing firm..Printed everything from comic books&news papers to books. There is lots of machines left in it still to this day. I had permission from the building's care taker to take all the comics, newspapers, and books..I have preserved what I can but most was destroyed due to mold, mildew, vermin, and water damage..I did manage to save alot for history's sake but so much was lost..So again I say..One of the dumbest things businesses do when they shut down is leave their stuff to rot..All don't..But a good many do it seems. That's just wasted money on their part.
I'd agree, it seems so stupid to do that. They could always hire an auction company to come in and hold an auction and in a matter of a day make a nice chunck of cash and not have to personally deal with it and not have to later pay to have trash removed when it's all rotted and broken.
billy mccabe Not quite. On to the best part of my old job (no longer in security as the firm I was with charged places too much to patrol) You have dibs if the stuff is unclaimed :P. Well I patrolled many a place who had the very thing you mentioned only to have the stuff sit and rot away because the people who bought it never took it, Finally the building keepers decided if security wanted anything they could have it as long as it wasn't private employee or insurance records. Well I happened to be patrolling a famous printing firm, I got loads of comic books, comic book signatures, photos, books, even collectible cards and memorabilia :P. All cause people was either stupid or too lazy to get hauled out what they bid on and won. Usually their stuff would be fine..But this building was the exception, Roof caved in,walls falling, floor buckling, etc. I'm sure it was fine for years but the stuff all sit there since 1998 LOL and the building was never renovated either since then.
I grew up and live in this area. Seeing all those Christmas and season decorations near the beginning really got to me, I remember all of them being out for holidays. Good video.
I used to go shopping there with my uncle back in the 90's. I remember going over to his house and him saying "Ready to go to Jamestown mall?" I also recall seeing that news report too haha. (I live about 35 to 40 minutes away from this place.)
January 2017: In 1970's northern St. Louis County, the big centers were Northwest Plaza, Jamestown Mall, River Roads Mall and Northland. They're all gone now, except for Jamestown, and its demolition appears imminent. This mall was badly located, way off the interstates, and its fate was sealed as middle-class whites moved to St. Charles County in the 80's and 90's. My empty-nest mother was one of them, and Jamestown's where we went to shop when we lived in Florissant. Jamestown had Sears and Stix, Baer and Fuller to start (Stix sold out to Dillards); JC Penney and Famous-Barr (sold to Macy's) came later. The TV's and pillows were in the former Dillards, which was last used as an outlet store for motel and hotel surplus. And that wasn't mold in the theatre; the carpets had been torn out and they left the foam underpadding. Kind of looks like mold, though.
Worked at Waldenbooks, there, from 1994-1997. Was surprised when they later spent the money to build a theatre and a J Bucks. Not so surprised the economy got to it, though.
This is wild man, this mall was my childhood!!!!! so surreal to see a once bustling place totally abandoned. I remember all the weird mall aesthetic sculptures and junk....
Omg this makes me so sad, this mall was the shit when I was a kid, I saw finding memo and monsters inc and countless scary movies there, and I remember going to the candy store and throwing pennies in the fountain to make wishes ☺️ the food court was the bomb.com too, they had everythiiiing you could ever want to eat and an awesome ball pit/play place. Great vid man ✊🏻
I watched “Dead Malls” video and then this one. It’s really unfortunate to see how far down the mall has fallen sense production of this video. Owners clearly don’t care about the property and it is most likely going to be torn down.
The memories are just flooding in, I went to this mall for a little while as a kid, it's decline has been going in for such a long time and I'm surprised it stayed open as long as it did. I remember us being too poor to buy movie theater snacks and drink so once we snuck stuff in, a security guard caught us, laughed and let us in with the stuff anyway. I remember seeing so many movies there like Cloverfield, Manchurian Candidate (I think), King Kong 2005, Last Samurai and a few more. My brother worked a few years at the Jc Penny so thats the main store we frequented. It's been so many years since I been there. It's funny, it always felt a little dated compared to other malls, but now I'm so into retro stuff.
How are the plants growing so well, spilling out onto the floor? The office looked strangely clean and active. The screen distortions in the theater were just unnecessary though.
It may have been in use for a while even after the mall was closed, while they were figuring all the legal things out. Same with the STLPD police station.
What is really creepy is the way in which this mall was shut down. It was a dark and storm night and the cheap owners forgot to pay their gas bill and they shut off the heat. So they have to close because the mall got too cold. The end.... Well, I guess its really not that creepy now that I think about it.
I worked security at Northwest Plaza during its last gasps of breath. I went to Jamestown to try to pick up some extra money working. The mall had a relatively new 14 screen movie complex Weherenberg put there and when they left, mall management was trying to run it. it loo
looked like the security was being done by the management of the mall. All in all it was pretty sad at the end and just a place you were glad to be out of. I also spent some time working security at the Galleria. Will be looking forward to see it shut down.
I just could handle it at night and being all lone but other wise you can do want you want like sleep no one will brother you you can be on your cell phone or ipad all day long and watch movies and TV
Yeah, but you'd be surprised they actually expect you to stay awake, occasionally patrol and just look busy so they feel like they're getting their money's worth even tho your company was the lowest bidder.
Back when I first started exploring abandoned places, i used to take souvenirs. I don't anymore after I realized I'm ruining the experience for others. I often take my friends to explore the places I already have and get them hooked, and I always tell them your rule: take nothing but pictures, leave nothing but footprints.
the mall had some of the nicest water features of any of the malls in the area. the last time i was there was when the JCP Outlet announced it is closing its doors, by then most of the mall was walled up though. i do remember being in there in the 90's when most of the stores were still open. being from the Alton area, it was the closest of the large StL malls... Alton's mall is rather dinky and is going the way of the Dodo. St. Clare is holding in there, but not the Mills Outlet... (Glen Carbon had a tiny-tiny dead mall, which was so hidden you'd had to get a magnifying glass and tweezers to find it... Cottonwood Mall. it was behind the walmart and office max, it is gone now. I poked my head into it once without realizing what it was at first)
Originally thought that Dillard's was NEVER updated ever since it was called Styx-something-sumshit when it first opened (It appeared to have taken the Dillard's locations in St. Clair & South County Malls until the late 2000's to update both those stores (remember how dark af those two locations were???)), but it all looks exactly like the other Dillard's locations in the area that opened in the 1980's (the expanded Galleria location & Mid Rivers Mall)! There's absolutely NO way in hell all four (?) floors were open at that former location towards the late 90's/2000's, let alone a restaurant! The reasons for the old TV's in the abandoned Dillard's is due to some local vendor literally selling crap from cheap old motels some point in the early 2010's before the mall's total closure, if I recall correctly...
This mall was my childhood. I loved the theater. Remember seeing Many movies growing up at the Wherenburg Theater at this mall. This mall was the ish back in the day. Seeing this is kinda heartbreak
Does Crestwood Center's interior look this trashed yet? Or do the scrappers/looters only strike at malls where the demographics were more of a problem to begin with? (whereas in Crestwood's case, it closed simply due to competition & bad retail saturation in this area overall...)
see this is the perfect atmosphere for a horror film. Most horror films relie on corny ghosts or something like that when jus silence and darkness is creepy enough.
Excellent vid!! And thank you so much for investing in a decent flashlight! Ive seen so many videos where you cant see anything because they use crappy lighting, but yours is great :-)
Last part of the vid lol. I was out exploring today and between all abandoned buldings there was one where the heating was on it looked abandoned, but felt like someone was there not too long ago. There was also one door that was sealed shut with gaffer tape with a "Police line do not cross" band on it. Booked it out of there as soon as I saw that. That "I should not be here" feeling too.
I soon as I saw the trouble light on the alarm panel I would have made a hasty exit :P You are brave sir, but its great you had permission to be there. I hope the night guards never had to go into the theater!
Dude I live very close to that mall. I'm only 14 and it was already kinda dead when I was younger ( around 10-11) and I remember walking with my mom and the only useful stores were Macy's honestly. No one ever went there really, the main choice was the Mills mall. Which is also very dead. Now people go to the Galleria Mall, which is much far but it is worth it. Gonna be sad to watch that one die 😞
I love abandoned stuff so much! I always watch these videos but then right when I get inside something abandoned I get really scared 😂 I want to go into that mall though omg
More & more malls are closing, the one by my house almost closed, half the big name retailers such as Dillards & JC Penny packed up and left, few others have too.. The mall now is half flea market half legit with places like forever 21, Foot Locker, Champs, Michael Kors, AE, and others are still inside.. I asked what's going on to a long time employee of the mall, she said she was told online sales are increasing and less ppl are leaving their house and going to the mall to get the item they want, they just order it online for markdown prices.. TECHNOLOGY is the reason malls are closing lol
+Devin bear-re Maybe in the United States or in Canada, but in my country that isn't really the case. People still go to the mall, especially the elder generation. Some of them do very well, and some don't. But that's just something that keeps for some weeks than it start to grow again (during summer, everyone is away). But it's interesting. Never thought that they would keep up for that long, sine online-stores are coming up, more and more. I guess people (as I do) really like the "old fashioned" way of shopping in clothes store and such.
It's a good thing malls are still a popular thing in my area. In fact, I sometimes go to the "local" (and by that, I mean 12 miles away) mall with my mother, and I see gaggles of teenage girls hanging out there, getting fancy drinks at Starbucks and looking at dresses in Macy's. I swear, you'd think you'd accidentally been warped to 1991...
SwissCheeseOnaPlate Never said they weren't going to the mall it's just a lot of big name retailers are not renting out spaces in the mall anymore and when that happens, the mall is going to struggle until it gets someone to rent that spot out again. Back when I was growing up this mall by me was ALWAYS jam packed, it was the hot spot. Back when I was growing up, hardly anyone bought stuff online, ESPECIALLY holiday shopping, no one wants to sit in a 2-3 hr line when they can just type their CC number into an online store and have their items within 2 days. The mall is still open but it's never packed, I did notice the old Dillards space got rented out by Edwards Theaters. Toby Keiths I love this bar & grill closed though.
Houston Texans Thanks for the insight. I think we all knew, that all Malls are going to have a hard time when the whole online-shopping became a "thing". Allthough our biggest mall in town is doing quite well.
I'm not sure why I laughed so hard when he went over to the nasty mattress, looked at it for a couple seconds and said "Gross." xD I don't wanna know what that stain was. Hopefully someone spilled a half gallon of chocolate milk.
Think you i commented on your other one before you deleted it right after I did but I'm glad you put it back up because I miss seeing the mall I went there to go to the movies on its final days for years before that but I remember going to EB games there I love your videos and I wish I could do one with you because you are the one that got me interested in abandoned places I don't go to them since I don't want to get in trouble but there is this place in Florissant Mo the children palace it's like a big pink castle I want to know what it looks like in there it not to far from James Town mall
I'm glad to have seen this mall that I've read so many comments about elsewhere. I've seen many abandoned-malls in videos but I've never seen one with so much still in it and in such disarray. It must depend on the individual store or chain or franchise but if a business is going to suddenly close and there are no plans to do something with the contents and merchandise why not just give those things away to the employees who are losing their jobs or to whoever will take the merchandise so it isn't wasted? I understand it's not quite the same but I've worked at fundraising book sales and when the sales ended the public could just come in an take whatever was left. If the contents of a business or store aren't going to be removed and taken elsewhere for use or for sale why not do the same and give them away?
It also didn't help that there was a tragic shooting there. My uncle worked with the son of the couple at a tow truck company. It was really sad. m.stlamerican.com/news/local_news/article_42bea876-1a13-5424-bacc-9d439d3ae365.html?mode=jqm usatoday30.usatoday.com/news/nation/2008-07-16-1453176860_x.htm
There were actually two murders there. One was at one of the dollar stores where a worker was shot in the back office The other was in the main hallway in front of a beauty shop when a guy shot either his wife or girlfriend. I'm not sure, but I believe he shot himself also.
Here's a tip for urban exploration, if you want to explore something big like an abandoned mall, don't go alone cuz if you slipped and fell unconscious, it will be some time before a least a security guard finds you!
It looked like the stuff you were walking on in the movie theater was the padding the put under the carpet.. sometimes they use sticky stuff that is yellow and looks moldy.
RetroMMA Well to me... the abandoned mall is not that important so i wouldn't be getting upset and/or going off on someone for telling me a wrong/dumb answer. But thanks for your answer.
Jr Santiago The abandon mall WAS the content of the video; still, you ask a question pertaining to said video YET you'll accept any answer? [Because it might be a real girl and you can placate her?] I fail to see where you are going with this.
had alot of great times in that mall..i remember one time i lost aaron my oldest in there..an that was the scary time of my life..found 2mins later...thank god...
I haven't been to this place in years, only at least twice before it closed. The last time it was really dead, kind of like how the St. Louis Mills mall is now. Once if I remember the smell of the mall was really gross, but it could have been somewhere else.
Great movie idea: Security guard in abandoned mall slowly goes insane... By the way, was it the security guard who watered the plants? THAT'S IT! Experimental plant growth formula used on decorative plants in abandoned mall, grows wild and becomes enchanted interdimensional garden..
In the early to mid 1980s I sold my wooden jewelry at Jamestown Art & Craft shows two or three times sponsored by Silver Dollar City. I never did have all that great a show there, just another typical mall. An extremely humid, hot area in summer. I see the population of Florissant, MO is now 27% black and very close to Ferguson, so I would guess that contributed to the closing. White flight to the far west suburbs and more blacks moving in. On Google Earth, there's corn planted right next to the parking lot!
This place was already closed when the whole Ferguson thing began; after around 15 years of decline as well as being located well outta the way of things (There's cornfields immediately past the parking lot of this place and ZERO surrounding retail/big box strips or restaurants-- NOTHING!!! (and it isn't located directly next to an interstate-- where almost all the malls that were ever built built but are still bustling today are!)) Now, the St. Louis Mills... THAT'S a mall that has probably seen a noticeable negative impact since the Ferguson riots! 20-33% vacant in 2013-14; 50+% now!!!
One would think demolishing the building would make more sense rather than having to pay someone to guard the place and have police out there constantly.
this would be a great place for a haunted houses Lazy tag place. just by the looks of it right now.. I.remembered going there with my mom and friends to the jcpenny outlet store.. its just said to see how.many malls went down hill.
Hey I plan to go there next summer and i just wanna know if i can find the security guard, explain what i want to do (take pictures and video) and possibly get permission, is he (or she) a easy going and gonna be alright with it? I won't touch anything
I live in the st Louis area and I've never been in that mall. Just been in Crestwood mall which he has a video of. Damn, the mold on the movie theater rug was just disgusting.
yes but rolling acres would be pitch black at night also. and has no railings. has broken glass everywhere. toxic black mold. slippery floors that can lead to a dangerous fall to the first floor. drug and gang activity. people shooting guns randomly. and overall decay of the structure itself. this place is a walk in the park compared to the acres.
I got so much memories of this mall we use to go here for movies, Easter egg hunts, and walked the mall. now it's gone.
Many memories

Fellow Missourian here! I love your videos and think it's really cool how you explore my state's abandoned terrain. Keep up the good work!

7:47 "It looks creepy as fuck."
So that is _exactly_ where you go!! :) Brilliant!
Was funny that
This is still the best video on this channel. Awesome job.
This makes me so happy that it's back up this is my favorite exploration video.
I grew up Just a little ways a way from that mall And went there all the time. It's sad to see it look like this

A lot of memories in that mall smh...that was the top mall before south county, West county, mills, and galleria malls

Glad this video is back up, thanks for the dedicated work and common sense.

The mall of my youth. It is a shame that it closed. Thanks for taking video of this.
I agree completely, Leave things as you found them. Great video!
The plants look to be growing well, they must have water to stay alive!
Nice mall jungle!
Idk but the last 2 minutes where the most intense 2 minutes of my life! I was literally waiting for someone or something to pop out!!!
This is sad because I used to come here all the time and now it's close.....smh this place was the spot💯
That would be a depressing job guarding a Abandoned mall

ever encounter "ghost" or paranormal stuff when you've done this any storys you could share.
It's crazy how in some areas in the video the mall just looks like it's closed for the night
It's bizarre that this mall only closed less than 2 years ago, and yet has decayed so much...
Does Crestwood Center's interior look this trashed yet? Or do the scrappers/looters only strike at malls where the demographics were more of a problem to begin with? (whereas in Crestwood's case, it closed simply due to competition & bad retail saturation in this area overall...)
Spike18ism I know, but that's because it's been closed for 8 years.
So interesting... I would love to see more! I remember the last time I was at this mall...most of the mall was not accessible to the public then even.
Me and my son really like the urban exploring videos from you. He's only 6 and points out every time you say a bad word lol
see this is the perfect atmosphere for a horror film.
I spent many weekends there as. a kid....thank you
crazy how for a lot of us who has been here this is just a memory
I love abandoned stuff so much! I always watch these videos but then right when I get inside something abandoned I get really scared 😂 I want to go into that mall though omg
This definitely reminded me of Silent Hill 3. Very eerie.
OMG when the door beeper went off I craped my pants in fright, great video and btw what torch and camera do you use?
This is The Last of Us, omg.
It feels like yesterday that I was here. I definitely remember it's last days.
Looks very creepy!!
But it is a very nice video from it :)
Houston Texans
Thanks for the insight. I think we all knew, that all Malls are going to have a hard time when the whole online-shopping became a "thing". Allthough our biggest mall in town is doing quite well.
You my sir are a big brave dog to do that. I'd be creeped out at the slightest sound.
"Don't be a douche bag" most important tip.
What was the reason for Jamestown mall closing???
Even though I knew nothing was going to happen, I was still anticipating a jump scare ^_^
I'm not sure why I laughed so hard when he went over to the nasty mattress, looked at it for a couple seconds and said "Gross." xD I don't wanna know what that stain was. Hopefully someone spilled a half gallon of chocolate milk.
Definitely hooker blood.
I went there alot of times so its kind of weird to see it like this
You have real BIG balls to go here :/
At the rate we're going in this country it's, the future of America!!! Untenanted, not quite abandoned...
I took my gf to buy an airbrush t shirt or something there when I was in high school. Probably 2009-2010.
wait, look at those TVs... how long has this place been abandoned?
It was really sad. m.stlamerican.com/news/local_news/article_42bea876-1a13-5424-bacc-9d439d3ae365.html?mode=jqm

There were actually two murders there. One was at one of the dollar stores where a worker was shot in the back office
The other was in the main hallway in front of a beauty shop when a guy shot either his wife or girlfriend.
It just takes one person to screw it up for everyone, smh! By the way, why is this place abandoned?
I believe because a lot of stores were leaving and no was going to it
Vicki Time Oh ok
RetroMMA Well to me... the abandoned mall is not that important so i wouldn't be getting upset and/or going off on someone for telling me a wrong/dumb answer. But thanks for your answer.
Jr Santiago The abandon mall WAS the content of the video; still, you ask a question pertaining to said video YET you'll accept any answer? [Because it might be a real girl and you can placate her?]
I fail to see where you are going with this.
RetroMMA You don't make any sense, seriously. First off, the video is about a mall, thanks for that captain obvious ((very sarcastically)
life without people.. six month without people
had alot of great times in that mall..i remember one time i lost aaron my oldest in there..an that was the scary time of my life..found 2mins later...thank god...
The anchor at 4:40 is the former Dillards, which if I do recall correctly it closed in 2006?
I remember seeing all the classic movies here
Judging by hints and clues of stuff i saw it was closed around sometime during 2010-2012
I haven't been to this place in years, only at least twice before it closed.
Wow man....love the vids...this is great stuff!
I miss this mall
Great video! Creepy mall!
Great vid! Thanks for posting
I grew up at this mall,a long time ago,,so said, still live in missouri,,
I'm glad you put it back up. :D It sucks that people have to be such jerks. :|
Reminds me of "The Last of Us" mall scene, especially with the background music.
"I should not be in here"
*goes deeper in"
3:59 - 4:00 what's with the background voice?
Damn, the mold on the movie theater rug was just disgusting.
horror mall huh. never saw rolling acres in Akron I guess. however the ending was really cool with the alarm panel then it goes black. very cool.
Rolling Acres isn't pitch-black. This place is.
Plus, Rolling Acres has been abandoned for 8 years, while Jamestown has only been abandoned for 2.
yes but rolling acres would be pitch black at night also. and has no railings. has broken glass everywhere. toxic black mold. slippery floors that can lead to a dangerous fall to the first floor. drug and gang activity. people shooting guns randomly. and overall decay of the structure itself. this place is a walk in the park compared to the acres.
wild bill They're both pretty damn bad. But yeah, Rolling Acres is the creepier of the two.
BikerBoyNJ as bad as acres is I want to get in there. It is only a short 30 minute drive from my home. I just don't have the stones to go in there.
wild bill I envy you. I'd say it's about 8 hours from my neck of the woods.
Looks like everybody just ran out on closing day leaving everything behind......looks like it recently closed in like 2010 or so
It looks that way but most of it was open until 2013
UE: "Take nothing but photographs..."
Me: Takes the photographs of beautiful women @6:20 and 8:28. lol
