@@63MASARO Talk about a false equivalence... The fact that she "didn't cave under pressure" as you put it, doesn't equate to her life as a success.
one doesn't have anything to do with the other.
This is just one of the big problems with white people, that think like you.
whenever black people have an inch of anything positive, white people see it as a success, completely ignoring all the racism black people go through, just to hang on to that iddy bit of personal triumph.
She accomplished what she did, despite of the racism, discrimination and humiliation she faced.
White people always try to downplay racism black people face by saying, "she was a success!" By who's metric? white people's?
White people are the LAST PEOPLE, OF ALL PEOPLE to determine this black woman's success, knowing how they treated her back then and how white people treat black people NOW! IN 2024!

Life is hard for everybody, but to pile disgusting racism on top of an entire world family is beyond stupid. When will people learn??? My mom was a mixed race woman who had to hide it all her life. We didn't find out until after she died that she was part native American and creole/french/black/southern Louisiana mix. I'm proud of that legacy, how rich and vibrant to feel those ancestors in my heart!

This is a constant in America, when it comes to African Americans. White people hated murtin luther king, when he was alive but soon as he died, they loved him.
Same with Malcom x, hated him when he was alive, now white people say, "He was one of the greatest minds we ever seen!"
Any and every black icon we have ever had, they shoot down in life but in death, they switch up! it's so insincere.
Look at what they did to Michael Jackson......

She was born in Wichita, Kansas, and has been celebrated for her career and the challenges she faced. They are planning a memorial to be placed at the site of her home where she was born, (the house is long gone), just a few blocks from downtown Wichita. I think it will be up soon. Also, I believe Clark Gable was enraged that she was not going to be allowed in the theater for the premiere of GWTW, and was responsible for getting her inside after he threatened to not go in. She was definitely a talented woman, and a credit to her race, and all humanity. We remember you, High Hatted Hattie! RIP, dear soul. ❤️🙏

He was a tiny kitten when we pulled him from the water, and unfortunately, the only survivor of the litter when the flash flood hit. We soon found out he was part dinosaur and grew to be about 25 pounds without being overweight, he was just a gigantic baby who yowled for attention constantly and always tried to get into the refrigerator and lay with his feet against the front door to keep us from leaving the house...he drove us nuts. Our cats must have been related! Ours was in the 80s/90s as well. We always have cats and dogs now. All rescued. I lost my chow/wolf mix after 18 perfect years, right at the start of the pandemic, I thought I was going to die, I missed her so much...but she had one last gift for me. I was in very bad health, and overweight, pre diabetic, high blood pressure and cholesterol, fat, and then grieving and stuck at home without friends to help...I stopped eating crap, and started walking every day. I adopted an injured Australian shepherd from a drug addict who couldn't afford the treatment she needed, then I began to work in the yard. One day, I started running, and I couldn't stop. I just wanted to run myself into oblivion, I was so miserable, but weight came off, like, a hundred pounds (I still can't believe I got so fat!), and running helped me not grieve, I don't know why, so I just kept on, everytime I got sad, I'd go run. I started eating food that helped, not crap, and I started feeling better. It took over a year, but when I went for a checkup, all the alarms went off on their computer because I'd lost a hundred pounds! They thought I had cancer! I was 61, so they didn't believe that I was running. I was able to stop five medications because I no longer had weight related illnesses. That helped too. I stopped taking opiates since I wasn't in as much pain. That was hard, because I'd been on them for ten years! I could have been Keith Richard's little sister, there was no drug I hadn't tried in ten years of pain clinics! I know all about them! You name it, I probably took too much of it. Getting off them was a cold turkey, but nothing hurt as much as losing my dog so I didn't care....she was somehow my talisman for everything positive happening to me. In three years I've been running 6 to 8 miles a day, and I'm old! I feel better now than I did in my 30s and 40s. If I could do it, I'm convinced anyone can. I am the biggest complainer, but I never give up. I am working on starting a charity for seniors who have difficult issues paying vet bills, often because they are on a small, fixed income. Their pets are often old as well, and need a lot of medical support, special foods, drugs, etc., that puts a huge drain on an often single persons ability to get the best care. I want to change that! Seniors should be able to not worry about their pets getting decent care. I'm working on starting a non profit and actually making a difference before I get too old. My parents started a charity after they retired, called the black hats, and I believe it is still going to this day. If they did it, I know I can...I'm writing a book I want to use for extra income to start things rolling. People like you are always an inspiration to me. People that love their animal companions and understand the bond...never, ever give up, no matter what, you make a difference, even when you don't know it. Believe it.

Unsaid in this video, Hattie McDaniel was bedeviled by the NAACP, who did all they could to get her out of movies, to destroy her. However, in The South, she's still beloved for her great talent and the characters she played. Concerning the NAACP & Web DuBois, Booker T. Washington, the black founder of the Tuskeegee Institute, and also where George Washington Carver taught Agriculture, commented commented concerning others race hustling. "There is a class of colored people who make a business of keeping the troubles, the wrongs, and the hardships of the Negro race before the public. Having learned that they are able to make a living out of their troubles, they have grown into the settled habit of advertising their wrongs-partly because they want sympathy and partly because it pays. Some of these people do not want the Negro to lose his grievances, because they do not want to lose their jobs." Oddly, they did all they could however, to try and end Hattie McDaniel's career.
