Thank you! unlike most people I began fly fishing in the Surf Zone (Saltwater) and a stripping basket is a big help in these kinds of conditions, however, now I'm taking the plunge into targeting Carp in Urban waterways and it's been a struggle leaving the stripping basket behind. basically I'm getting a lot of catches on the stripping guide as the line goes out but this looks so simple and effective I'm going to give it a try next time I am on the river. Thanks again for posting this!
You taught this technique during a class on pine island. I never turned back. It has changed fly casting from a kayak forever! It was during a Florida flyfishing school class. Thanks, for the tip Joe!!

Boy, I can't wait for the snow to melt so I can try this out. The tangled loops hitting the stripping guide sure looked familiar!
Very well described by Joe Mahler.
This simple and very effective technique can be used wading the flats or off a skiff.
IT WORKS!!!!!
Joe, you are amazing!
Thanks. That is a great idea and I will be working on this technique.
And here I thought I was the only one that still used this classic old technique.
How bout that.
