- A video for 747 STRANGERS IN THE NIGHT (LIVE). The audio track was recorded at Helsinki in 2015 and features Phil Campbell on guitar.
Taken from "The Eagle Has Landed 40 (Live)" album which is set for release on August 2nd, 2019. The Eagle Has Landed 40 (Live) comes also as a 747 Signature Edition Boxset - limited to 747 copies. For more details visit: www.saxon747live.com
On August 2nd, Saxon, the British Heavy Metal vanguards who continue to deliver their seminal metal music to sold-out venues worldwide, will salute their 40th Anniversary by releasing The Eagle Has Landed 40 (Live) on Militia Guard/Silver Lining Music, a cracking, crunching and wholly representative celebration of four decades as one of the UK’s leading heavy metal lights. Entire musical genres have been born and died since Saxon released their self-titled debut in 1979, and through all the eras and all the trends, Saxon have continued to both entertain fans everywhere and prosper with albums and tours saturated in the band’s consistent trademark sound and quality. The Eagle Has Landed 40 (Live) celebrates all the classics from their early years with the modern classics which have continued to define Saxon as legends.
Forty songs covering four decades, from “State Of Grace” to “Machine Gun”, from the blistering “20,000 FT” to the thunderous “Battering Ram”, Saxon bring you on a victorious, boisterous journey through the human waves at Wacken, the stalwart supporters in Berlin, the mad dogs and Englishmen in London and other illustrious international cities via a selection of songs chosen by none other than Biff Byford himself. There are also tributes to their old friends and former colleagues Motörhead, with the supercharged “They Played Rock and Roll” and a cover of “Ace of Spades” featuring an appearance from the dearly departed ‘Fast’ Eddie Clarke. And to round off the MotörSaxon magic, there’s a roaring version of the classic “747 (Strangers in the Night)” featuring Phil Campbell from Helsinki in 2015.
The final result is not simply a triple album of great music, but a stirring and gloriously LOUD odyssey through golden years of metal history guaranteed to bring the headbanger out of even the mellowest rocker in the room.
Saxon supporters can enjoy The Eagle Has Landed 40 (Live) in various formats: a triple CD combo packed in a 6 panel digipack with a 16 pg booklet, Digital Download and Streaming.
The Eagle Has Landed 40 (Live) will also be available as a 12” lid-off Boxset, containing 5 x 12” 180 gms vinyl, The Eagle Has Landed 40 (Live) Tour Pass and Slipmat and an exclusive 40 page book. The pièce de résistance however is the 747 Signature Edition Boxset - limited to 747 copies - which also includes an exclusive 23 plectrum set featuring album artwork from all 22 Saxon’s studio albums and a limited edition The Eagle Has Landed 40 (Live) plectrum. The 747 Signature Edition Boxset also comes with Biff Byford's original hard-written lyric sheet of the "747 (Strangers In The Night)" song, with each print being hand-numbered and autographed by the man himself.
You can pre-order your 747 Signature Edition Boxset at this location

Biff never ever lost the voice..unlike a lot of vocalists from back then...his kinda got deeper and with no loss of power.👍
If needed just change the key, nothing wrong with that. Sinatra did it.
TOM ARAYA SCREAMED HIMSELF HORSE!
Biff still got it. Impressive
Until he tried to front motorhead ! Dog shite
And you can understand the words, instead of a slur like Vince Neil
70 years of age and I’m still rocking to Saxon 🇬🇧💕 Keep safe x
brilliant my friend , not just me then
68 here.
@@danbegay3646 65 here.
so you were a little kid about 5 when you started listening to Saxon. Good for you bro.
I started at 16, now I'm 32 and will continue until I'm 70 and beyond!
Biff is authentic Rock REAL DEAL.
Phenomenal tune and live performance! 😎🤘🏻🎸
Anytime I hear Saxon I immediately think of London 2005. I was 22, visiting the country for the first time on vacation. My last day there, I was standing outside of a shop on Queensway, wearing an Iron Maiden Killers hoodie and this middle aged bald fella walked past me wearing a Saxon Wheels of Steel Hoodie. We looked at each other and grinned and he walked up to me and said in a very thick Cockney accent " It's great to see young people with good tastes!" And I laughed and said in my hickass accent " Hell yeah buddy!" And we shook hands lol
The first record I ever bought! The start of my heavy metal addiction!
First band of my first show. 1980?
Good start
Welcome to the club.
Yes, addiction is the word.
The first band I ever saw live..... Leeds Queens Hall, 1983 🤘
Saxon.
One of the greatest NWOBHM ever!!!
@@EneSacarification New Wave of British Heavy Metal
Domenic Vitanza absolutely and one of metal most consistent classic metal bands!!!!!
In Lund, southern Sweden 1982, Iwatched Saxon for the first time. The had performed in Stockholm the day before and the concert was delayed 2 hours due to slippery roads farther north. Several thousand fans shouted "we wan't Saxon, we want Saxon", and as the doors finally opened, the ticket guards had not a chanse. And what a concert it was. Biff: "Anyone here who likes Human League ?" -crowd reply "NOOOOOOO !" He then wondered "Are there any Barry Manilow fans here today ?" - With the same reply, naturally. And then - "Are there any SAXON fans here today ?" - YEEEAAAAH !
Biff really spellbound the Lund crowd some day in November 1982.
Biff said that at Sheffield City Hall too.. lol.
Still sounding great! I was an 80s rock chick and loved Saxon
My dad brought me here, my son will be along soon 🤘🏻🙌🏻
I lost count how many times I saw Saxon in the 70’s😩 The Barnsley barnstormers - or something like that. They were the band always supporting some other band and never received the recognition they rightly deserved…🤔 watching this video, the musicianship and Biffs vocals are absolutely outstanding. Excellence 🫡🫡
I wish I could have experienced this kind of amazement
Saxon, best live band ever. 👍
Got tickets for Düsseldorf and London. 😎🙋♀️
In the 80s, I grew up with their music 🎸
I saw your show (my first show!) in 1983 at Pisa - Italy.
A greeting to Biff!
Biff Byford è una forza della natura.
Che voce! E che personaggio!
Un mito 🤟
His voice is incredible as his aura ... saw them live many time... one of the best singer ever, BIFF *****
Saxon Lenda do Metal

Still epic after all these years 🤘🤘
what a riff...., this guitars..., the drumming here from nigel is really in a state of art....
Still great forty years on!
Never tire of hearing this track🤘🏻
Just discovered this. What an absolutely epic video. I'm 48, and it encapsulates everything and every emotion I felt when hearing this song as a teenager in the 80's. Absolutely magic. Thanks to all involved 👍
This was propably saxon & motörhead last gig together ever, girlschool was also on the bill. 3rd last motörhead gig i think? I was there. bittersweet memory.
Excellent work from the Yorkshire metal men & Nigel is an excellent drummer...Loved these guy's from Sheffield since early 80s!!!
Long Live Saxon!!!✌🤘💙
They’re actually from Barnsley not Sheffield👍😉
@@stevenobrien3763 True, but Pete Gill was from Sheffield😉👍
Fantastic

What a amazing band to see live. Got to see them in Cardiff a few years ago and they just ruled the night
I'vent listening to this song 40 Years. HIS Voice is almost the same...
I am lucky enough to have seen Saxon a number of times; especially during the NWOBHM period in the 80's, but of all the memories there is one that stands out; they were playing The Monsters Of Rock (Open Air) at Donnington , they were playing this (747 Strangers in the Night) and in the middle of it Biff walked over in front of the HUGE Bass Bins and stuck his head into one of the bins, and God they were LOUD!!!!!. Great day. I remember The Scorpions stepping in for someone else at the last minute and they too played a Stormer But I remember the headliners Rainbow came on and after about 2 songs everyone started leaving because they really just didn't 'Turn Up'. Some fans down the front started throwing cans & stuff at the stage and Blackmore throwing a strop.
First concert I ever saw, 1985. Will live with me forever!! 🎤🎸🥁🥰
And what a brilliant record 😜
Played this over and over know every line word for word .luv it.
Seen them a long time ago, listening to them now, it feels like then. Absolutely brilliant. 👌🤘.
Love this guy! True metal!!

SAXON LA MEJOR BANDA INGLESA.! AGUANTE SAXON CARAJO¡¡¡
Daxdag
Godammit this is SO GOOD
Danke.
I love think band!
Night living
Pioneers of metal. They were imitated by many bands. It's a pity that giant bands like Iron Maiden or Metallica did not bring them on their tours to help them. One of the best metal songs ever
Saxon still kill it they don't need a stadium tour to do well seen them a good few times in smaller venues and they always kick ass
@@rhysoneill7399 I saw the original line up many times during the epic 80s NWOBHM era, incl. at the very first Monsters of Rock festival, Donington Park, England in August 1980.
I’ll be at Leicester’s De Montfort Hall on 25th November 2022 to see the current line up on the Carpe Diem UK tour. It will be epic all over again.
Saxon !!!!!!!!!
Hell yesss

amo esta cancion!

Go Saxon!! En ole kuunnellut paljon mutta tämä ja muut soi korvamatona!
9 people went down with the 747.
For a moment I was afraid the vocalist lost his voice. I am glad that was not the case.
Here after playing Saxxon from PlaynGo :D
Brilliant - Cheers !

Biff let em av it
Have it Jimbo
They haven't aged a bit
I m from ex USSR, it megahit
Great sound and playing and of course great song and band, its a pity though when the "live" video looks more like a promotional video with some poorly synced live footage slapped on to it from a different concert which doesnt give much of a live feel, i hope the audio is more genuine.
