Hand Flute - Basic tutorial

- Here is my explanation of how to play the hand flute in 4 easy steps:
1. Connect the top of the palm on the pinky side in the spot between the index finger and middle finger of the other hand.
2. Curl all fingers around the back of both hands ensuring no air escapes.
3. Connect the thumb muscles and expose both thumb knuckles such that the only entrance of air is through the front.
4. Place the bottom lip below the exposed knuckles and the top lip above the knuckles.
HOT TIPS:
- Blow gently!
- move around a bit, expand and contract until the correct position is found.

What kind of hands are u using?
SebasValverde yeah series one broke for me, but series 3 is too expensive for me. I heard series 4CHEAP is coming out but idk how much 😐
@@swebas Yea i have series1 and i would not recommend. Only one of them is usually good for anything out of any pair you get and the longer you use them you get these weird pains and popping sounds... There is no way of doing actual maintenance at home and it's very expensive to get it done :( also mine wont produce any kinds of sounds like this...

I would say get some of those organic home-grown hands. They work the BEST! My Mom and Dad gifted me those on my first birthday and 20 years down the line, THEY ARE STILL IN EXCELLENT CONDITION !

Thank you so much for this tutorial .My dad used to do this trick for me when i grew up and I always found it magical. My dad passed away in 2015 and he never taught me how to do it. Lately, I've been wanting to learn so if I have kids I can let them know fun things their grandfather would do with them. So thank you.
Thought it would be a fun hobby and learned it in under 10 minutes. I guess blowing really is my specialty

I think some of us are just incapable of doing it due to our hand shape. I personally can only get a very light whistle.

I found that more pressure towards your thumbs, less pressure towards the back, and if you are still having issues to shift your finger placement slightly, my left fingers are basically only touching the fingertips where i have the right fingers touching right around the knuckle where the pinky meets your hand, two fingers on either side of the knuckle, and make sure the gap between your hands is wide enough, if you need a good representative imagine youre squeezing a golfball
I produced a tone once, and I can't replicate what/how I did it again. It's even more annoying than having never produced a tone in the first place.

@@sasukeXI Keep tight, feel for a ridge on your over hand, position thumbs close but keep a air hole, play softly and wait until you feel a resonance or a slight suction, blow medium-hard until sound produce, change position of mouth slightly if no sound produced, it's like a more complicated flute.

Brudzi69 YOU GOT THIS!!! It took me months to make a sound. I mean practice at least one minute a day literally, and you’ll make sound. Keep switching up how you position your hands. And practice!!!

I'm not getting it and it's been weeks
I managed to get the basics down in ~ 40 minutes so i could get a whistle almost every time, and now that im working on pitch i found that instead of lifting all four fingers as you do i have to only lift my middle and ring fingers, i dont get quite the same high tone at the highest but i can increase pitch! Gonna keep practicing until i can get a korok seed

Interesting. This is the first video that actually almost worked for me. I can actually get a light whistle with your method of hand placement.
Update: I found it works better if I create more space in my hands. My fingertips of my dominant are placed on the skin between my index finger and thumb. And the lateral side of my dominant hand is placed a bit higher than what you proposed in the video. The bottom of my pinky is actually sitting at the second knuckles between my index and middle finger.

I had issues today but I learned I guess I can do it with my left hand too!! And also apparently my pinky doesn't need to be out it can be folded in my hand for it to work or squished to death 😂

I learned the handflute years ago, but may have learned incorrectly. I blow with my lips pretty open, making it difficult to tongue the notes and control the speed of my airflow. 😥
It’s a matter of readjusting my embouchure and overriding my muscle memory, but it’s proving difficult! 😅
When i do that it sounds like a regular whistle not like a flute sound

You have to practice for literal hours I learned it in seventh grade 13 years ago because I just kept trying until I got it. The main point is the stoppage of air other than the hole you blow out of
