cp.7z is an unfortunate filename

I wonder why
It really is
Damn, took me a second to figure that one out. 😂

Looking on the bright side, mods will drastically improve at least.
Maybe? You can't legally use this to make your own version of the game and I wouldn't want to be at the mercy of a boomer judge who has to decide whether or not my mod is an illegal copy of the game.
@@MentalOutlaw True. I'd say clean room reverse engineering is a possibility but I don't fully understand the legality of it and I'm not going to pretend to.
No, this source code is old and has been public for like 3 years now.
The leak is a couple months after launch. The game at that time was in pretty rough shape still, although at least somewhat playable, but it is still very old and the game has come a long ways
@@MentalOutlawtrue, and the government is hungry for money to fund their illegal proxy wars across the globe right now and they love crushing dissent and enforcing copyright for their masters.
Roll the die, might get some bad news
The leak was already known, but the passwords weren't. Thats insane
I feel like I'm having a Mandela moment because I explicitly remember downloading and looking through Cyberpunk files like a year or two ago without incident or missing passwords.

I don't think CDPR would care that much, because these games already finished their biggest sale cycles. Also no impact on piracy when they've always been DRM-free and available. And CDPR said next games will use unreal engine anyways. Even though buggy, these games are pretty fun to play! If they become abandonware in the future, this leak could save them and give them a new life. I think CDPR may consider opening the source code some day, because they're friendly with modding, they're DRM-free and they care about old game preservation in general.
Oh boy more unoptimized slow unreal slop.
@@deadlock_problemokay shitty pc 🤭🤭🤭🤭
No way would they release all the source code for some their most profitable IPs. At least not within any time frame that matters. Being friendly to modders and not using DRM is one thing but making the source code public is something else entirely.
@@bighen2162unreal is generic shit obviously you dont play games
Big companies usually buy license a ton of third party libraries that are not freely redistributable which is what keeps them from open sourcing even if they wanted to and rewriting all the code of those libraries with in house code just for the sake of open sourcing is not feasible on a project like this.
That was the worst filename someone could've come up with for cyberpunk.
at least put 77 over top of it, or cypu, literally anything.
@e3.14c4 As fellow Polish, up till now I had zero idea it stands for child p***hraphy. First time I've ever heard. Must be a US-exclusive thing.
@@yarpen26 its not US exclusive
cp stands for cellphone where I live
@@yarpen26 It's moreso Anglosphere exclusive (apart from languages that have similar acronyms or the word 🧒starting w/ 'c').
Also it can mean 'creepypasta' or 'Club Penguin' but both aren't as popular as they once were (unlike the 'Epstein'-type 🎞).
inb4 the cp file is actually what it sounds like and they are doing a bad joke on everyone.
That would be pretty gangster. Like, Limewire circa 2004.
Chaotic evil right there.
Epic trolling
We do a little trolling, imagine feds having to scramble for millions of users downloading cp thinking its cyberpunk
100gb is a bit small for a video for a modern game, but huge for just some cheese pizza did they make 4k pizza or what the hell
You know what they say, if buying isn't owning then using ransomware to steal the source code and selling it for $10k something something
well thanks to the underwater data lines that run through international waters, it would fall under the maritime law of the sea, and unclaimed data is free for ye takings.
Except the CDPR games are some of the only games you actually fking own
@@yol_nyeah It doesn't matter, they are still bad games and the reason why noone is interested in the source code. Folks already decrypted it ages ago (that's why only got 36 dollars ) and found it to be not worth it since the code is just bad. Better to just start a new game on unreal. By bad i mean the games as a codebase. No matter the praise and accolades, CDPR actually don't know how to program a good game, their art and narration teams are really carrying them.
@@raptorate2872 that doesn't take from them being good games
CD Proj. Red walks away from it's own engine... hackers release the source code... lmfao
Could be on purpose? Only legal way to do that is it be a "leak", if I had worked my ass off as an engineer to develop an engine for it to be trashed I'd definitely tip off hackerman for it to be released so at least modders can have a field day and make own custom games.
@@egonzalez4294 CDPR definitely didn't work their asses off while making that engine lmao
also 2077 mods are dogshit either way, source code won't help much, it's all just animation mods and nsfw retexture stuff. no serious coders are making mods for that game, so I doubt anything impressive will come out of it. would be happy to be proven wrong tho
@@ianjcvignorant as shit comment. They didn't work their ass off? Yeah okay bro.
Not good enough mods for CP2077? Yeah maybe because the engine was pretty limiting already, especially without the source code.
@@ianjcv Redkit 3 (Witcher 3's mod editor) is currently on closed beta and there are few authors who cooked some cool stuff, check out Endika or Thibault
@@ianjcv I dont know anything about modding so i have to ask, what kind of mods would a ( serious ) modder make for 2077? I love the game and its modding scene i have lots of cars and one of my fav mods is advanced control because i can lean left and right and change my walk speed.
If it's any consolation for CDPR, given the state of Cyberpunk at the time of the leak, anything built from that source code will be a buggy nightmare.
when GTA 5 source code was leaked a RCE bug was found luckily the person that found it wasn’t malicious if someone finds a RCE in these source code, it could be trouble for people who play these games on PC
When was this about RCE bug? I thought rockstar got hacked through phishing and lack of 2FA
How would that affect TW3 and CP77 though? They are exclusively singleplayer.
These are single-player games though so I don't think RCE is possible?
@@RyanScarbrough They could infect the game by sending out malicious updates. Even if your game is singleplayer it still connects to steam. Hopefully CDPR isn't that clumsy.
@@aouyiu Both Witcher3 and CP77 have launchers that afaik pull a news update feed off of the web as well as display in game content announcements if you bought a DLC, or when there is a new update with features. It's possible that these features might get that data off of a web server rather than being static readonly data, and if that's possible then it might have a RCE vulnerability that could be used to convince your PC to join a bot network, etc.
Fully open source and mod-able Witcher 3? Yes please.
I expect that the number of seeders for that torrent will go up.
Was thinking the same for cyberpunk and it's whole cyberMP scene, huge L for CDPR. I stay winning however.
Oh, man! Cant wait for video compilations of all the no words from this leak

To be honest I would be rather interested in the chance to pick apart the source code for witcher 3 or cyberpunk to learn techniques from, even though I gave up programming as a career path.
I'm also interested in looking through the source code, but mostly for unhinged comments like the GTA 5 source had
@@MentalOutlaw "You look through the source code to patch your withered collection of knowledge like a car made from scrap.

Bro, wondering if you have already uploaded video talking about Nas Synology or generally nas system creating by your own. I know it's out of subject but i leave it here.
I believe that the PS4, Switch, etc… are not versions of the game but SDK which is kinda cool because to get access to them you have to apply/pay :)
If you feel up to it, I think it would amazing if you did a video on if cheap tech like phone gamepads, hand controllers, etc from amazon/aliexpress etc contain malware? I'd suspect they do. Linus tech tips did a video on a similar issue with tv boxes containing malware.
Cyberpunk mods finna go crazy now
The kinda the thing about source code leaks, anyone who could use the source code can't touch it
If you ever do anything for any company that produces a product remotely similar to the code leak and your IP appears on the bittorrent log or your home machine contains any trace of the leak during a lawsuit discovery search, best case scenario you are just industry blacklisted, even if you never used any of it.
If you ever want to get a job in coding, 3D modeling, whatever, avoid these leakes like the plague.

FOSS - Forced Open-Source
Cyberpunk mods that were made using stolen code appeared on Nexus around the end of May/beginning of June 2021.
