  • We tripped in to Jim Jim Falls from our campsite at Cooinda. Took about an hour and 45 to get there along the corrugated and then winding road. Ideally we should have left much earlier in the day so that it wasn't quite so scorching hot when we got to the end of the gorge, but hey, you learn as you go! We were glad we wore sturdy shoes for the rock hopping at the end of the gorge, but our Jacob (7) would have been equally happy barefoot. There is zero shade at the beach at the end, so best to chill out in the pool under the falls. And I still can't believe we FORGOT THE GO PRO! The pics from the bottom of the falls would have been tops, and the kids sliding down the rock like a slide was funny! The water in the pool at the bottom of the falls was actually REALLY cold too! Very unlike every other drop we have been near in the NT!
