David Simon said that tons of rappers had approached them wanting to be in The Wire but Method was the only one who stood up to the mark. And he was excellent too, literally everyone who watched the show jumped for joy when Slim Charles killed Cheese, and that's a mark of his talent. I'd like to see him do more acting tbh.
Method Man is a cool guy. Great attitude. He has a humility about him and isn’t self-absorbed. He was sort of putting the spot light on Rich and treating him like he was important.
Oz was an amazing show and it really set the stage for HBO shows like The wire and the sopranos BUT as far as a better show goes the Wire was one of if not the best show shows ever created as far as story telling goes. The way each season shows a different aspect of Baltimore and it’s issues is truly amazing!
Oz kicked down a lot of doors for shows that came after. It proved that tv audiences could handle dark and weird content, but I always saw The Sopranos as the beginning of the tv golden age
Yeah oz was amazing the brutality was just different. The gay stuff was difficult to sit through but overall was a great show. The wire now pshhhh compliments to the chef. Best show ever made don’t wanna hear about breaking bad this show is just different kettle of fish
@@gregordrizzlewing7339 I couldn't get through Oz after a few episodes. Too dark, weird and slow for me. Couldn't get through True Blood either. The Wire, Sopranos, Boardwalk Empire, Rome were all great.

His actors understand their genius. Method is a great actor and have great respect for his music as and now acting. He's a true artist.
Check out Australia's Underbelly series, every season was a different crime era in Australian history and for most seasons was incredibly well made. Also Ireland's Love/Hate. Well worth a watch.
I think I seen the first couple of episodes of Underbelly on Netflix. Might go back to it. I do like Aussie films, usually like Animal Kingdom, Snow Town, Chopper. I've watched about 5 episodes of Love/Hate. Need to continue on with that, was really enjoying it. Also, Gomorrah, Italian TV series based on the book/film Gomorrah. It's brilliant! Napoli Mafia show. Really gritty and some of it is based on real events. Thanks for the recommendations. If there's anything else, let me know.
Oz was awesome, but was purposefully partly styled like a stageplay, with fantasy sequence narration, a Greek chorus in theatre terms. But the characters and issues the plotlines addressed made it worth watching. I tried to watch The Wire, but it was slower than a snail, I gave up.
It’s so weird that apparently so many people are just now discovering The Wire. When it was in production, I just assumed EVERYONE had set aside their Sunday nights for it. It honestly hadn’t occurred to me that people weren’t watching that programme.
Long story short. We drive to Miami to go on cruise. My girl some of our friends and co workers. We get to Miami every body needed my help with something but the Wire was coming in 10 minutes. Nobody got nuthin until the wire went off
None of the wires main characters were untouchable,Stringer,Omar,Prop Joe,Deangelo all got ended.Oz was in no shape or form superior to the wire, the wire was on a whole other level.
You fail to grasp what I'm saying, Oz was groundbreaking in that it had no clear main characters who you knew were more or less untouchable. In the Wire you pretty much knew none of the cops would get killed so there was that.
It's all subjective of course, but it seems to me that you fail to grasp that the wire's main characters were amongst the best in tv history and just because they failed to get killed of does not diminish the strength of the show,it's all dependant on the storytelling and the narrative.Simply put the show didn't call for certain characters to get killed off to enhance its status,as opposed to something like Game of Thrones which does need certain characters to die.I liked Oz it was good tv,but the wire is the best ever, imo but also in most reputable top 10 reviews of all time.
I don't fail to grasp any of it, I'm just saying Oz broke the mold that has to be broken for a show to have that nerve. The Wire was very well written and even though the summary that the players change but the game stay the same has been said before their delivery was top level.
without Oz there wouldn't have most likely been The Wire. Oz was what really started the style of TV shows that HBO started putting in air in 1997 2 years before Sopranos and half a decade before The Wire.
@@j_obaymaac2886 For real, Oz might not been as good as the Wire or the Sopranos but it pushed the envelope so far in what was acceptable in a show.
