buckethead isnt just a guitarist, he is a translator... He translates feelings and emotions into songs, and this is so pure I can feel it just by hearing the song
I borrowed an acoustic guitar from my brother just to fool around. I did not know who buckethead was. Then he showed me this video and the next day I went to the local guitarshop and bought my first electric guitar. Now its 4 years later and I still love him just as much Buckethead for ever
ok guys, i gotta say, i love buckethead's music, and i think that buckethead is *in my opinion* the greatest guitarist to ever play. and it gave me great pleasure to play soothsayer at my school's talent show last year. so much pride.....and this song is just amazing. soulful, rhythmic, and awesome tone.
The quality of this video shows Bucketheads true soul.. that of a Robot, a Giant one sent here to shred and mix every particle in my brain and put them back together..oh man... I love it!!
Man, it is always a treat to this guy live. You don't always know what your in for when you go to see Buckethead. His improvs that he does just blow the recorded versions out of the water.
I've been listening to this song for years, probably hearing it over a thousand times if I had to estimate, and it's still as fresh and exciting, and jaw droppingly brilliant as the very first time I seen it. If such a thing existed, this would be musical perfection. Pure inspiration in how to mix slow melodic harmonies in with fast pulsating shredding and piece it all together in to one spectacular package. The scary thing is, he improvises each performance, his talent knows no bounds
I watched this video when it had no more than 1,500 views, after all this time, and all the other live videos of this song, this version is still my favorite
buckethead is honestly the best soloist musician in the world! No one can compare to the pure amazingness of every single one of his riffs and solos! there is nothing like buckethead anywhere and never will be!
His music is so emotive... I wish I had even an ounce of that musical genius. Fast fingers are one thing that anyone can learn. Not many can learn to make something greater than themselves with them.
There are millions of guitarists just like Slash, thousands of which are fameous indeed. There's only one Buckethead and there never will be another one. Buckethead is just that amazing...
noone comes close to the genius of understanding music like Buckethead does.. You have to listen to a lot of his albums to truly understand what a mastermind this guy is with a guitar.. Yeah, other people are great, but he's in a whole other league than them.. He can shred, he can go down slow like Machete, he can go acoustic like "For Mom".. He's the total package, which no other guitarists are..
well ty man i red your first comment and ty for telling me that i suck and never have touched a guitar and all the stuff, just because i ask a simple question, its nice to hear the people like you dont use to much time on youtube...
Ok that makes more sense. I didn't mean to jump to conclusions, but a lot of people out there are hating...and always for ignorant reasons. No, I get what you're saying. I've always said that a chorus lets you know what a feeling is about, and a Solo tells you how you're supposed to feel. Its how I write my music
on the topic of how buckethead's shredding is different to others, i have this to say: buckethead is the only musician who makes me feel like i understand what he's trying to say with his music, like we're just on the same page in life.. i've listened to endless good solos by great musicians and some of them i think are perfect but they don't produce the same feeling of understanding and compassion as buckethead can with a single strum if he wants to
I first heard this song when I was mad high, I just had to go find it and lo and behold when i found it again, I realized it was just as amazing when I wasnt high. Buckethead is just that good him and steve vai are just inspirational
I feel bad for those kids who got stuck listening to Top 40 instead of this. Its rare when you find yourself listening/watching to a song so intently that you completely loss track of time. Takes you a moment to realize that you've just been staring at your computer monitor for the last 9 minutes. This is unbelievable!
soothsayer is in my top 20 best songs I have EVER heard list, and I heard a lot of songs, its kinda hard to narrow it down to actually making a list, but Buckethead just belongs there, not even trying to think, like when someone asks you, hey what are your 10 favorite songs and you answer soothsayer right away...im just saying
I know him from his monsters and robots album. It's a good one. They had listening stations put up to advertise it. I picked it up the same day, because I had never heard anything so strange and awesome. I saw him recently at a local show, and he was great.
Once musicians reach a certain " Greatness" and "Technical Expertise" Who's better is just a matter of personnal taste in styles. Just shut up and enjoy the music that you like. That's what these people created it for. They'd rather be know and appreciated as creative, fresh, and innovative then to have people fight over who's the best. PEACE
the intro to this song almost makes me cry its so beutifal. i hope people 400 years later rember buckethead like we do for bach, moseart, and beethoven
I wish this guy had had a 1080p camera so i could have my soul massaged in better quality, i still think this is the best live performance and i really cant see there being another buckethead..
Buckethead is pure inspiration. I couldn't give a fuck who likes who, in my eyes Buckethead is the best out there and I'll continue to enjoy his music and even do my best to keep learning it until the day I die. Peace
It is so sad. This video has almost a million views and it's not even in the top 10 Soothsayer live version list. Buckethead's true music continues to go unnoticed. It really is sad.
Whoever says that Buckethead doesn't play with the emotion/feelings that Slash does...eat one. This is about as good as it gets, you can listen how Buckethead pumps out his soul in this song. I especially like that about this song, because he drops the goofy/freaky persona and just rips. I even get a hint of some Hendrix...I love it.
maybe some want to kill me now,but i watch buckethead videos every day and i respect him more and more and i trust to say, that maybe HE is the best musician which has ever lived on this planet
i love this song, when im drivng i play this song all the time. this song is the longest i think... like 9 minutes........this song it really soothing =)
@PhilippeMusique You know, musical taste is unimportant. What matters is openness. I myself am primarily a Joe Satriani fan, and spend an unhealthy amount of time watching old G3 live in Denver dvds, but I still think Buckethead's work is beautiful. Whether you are impressed or not doesn't matter. What matters is if you can appreciate the music. And the music is pretty damn good.
I have been a fan of his since '99 He sure has a lot of balls to do something this trancy and slow live.. Can hear damned near every mistake albeit not too many ;) I would like to see him play more fast licks out of the box, though. thanks for sharing
buckethead was with g´n´r from 2000-04 as lead-guitarist;he left because of the cancelled tour dates and the long-time distance between the making of chinese democracy;there are still some parts(the solo on the on chinese democracy(the song))of him on the album, though
The BEST version of Soothsayer out there.
the best version of this song id say
One of the best videos on UA-cam...also the best video of Soothsayer. Slowed down like this it sounds so good
15 years later here I am! First exposure to buckethead was this video so stoked I found it again best version of soothsayer hands down
possibly his best version of soothsayer, and one of his greatest songs
I can't even air guitar as fast as Bucket plays. I give up on life.
at 7:05 he initiates bucket beast mode. i love how he combines technical playing with emotion even while improvising, thats tough
this is the best soothsayer version I've ever heard. It's better than the studio version.
buckethead isnt just a guitarist, he is a translator...
Out of this world! This is the best Buckethead performance I've ever seen.
ok guys, i gotta say, i love buckethead's music, and i think that buckethead is *in my opinion* the greatest guitarist to ever play. and it gave me great pleasure to play soothsayer at my school's talent show last year.
so much pride.....and this song is just amazing. soulful, rhythmic, and awesome tone.
Best Soothsayer performance on UA-cam in my opinion. Thanks blackdiesel!
it seems like bucketheads songs and solos have so much heart and soul and meaning to it.
buckethead is the one of the most legend guitarists of our time :D love dis song!
Absolutely love Soothsayer, amazed how well he does it live.
The quality of this video shows Bucketheads true soul.. that of a Robot, a Giant one sent here to shred and mix every particle in my brain and put them back together..oh man... I love it!!
good song the best i heard in all my life so far
Man, it is always a treat to this guy live. You don't always know what your in for when you go to see Buckethead. His improvs that he does just blow the recorded versions out of the water.
I am addicted to his music, and it's not important what kind of personality he has as long as he is good!
The scary thing is, he improvises each performance, his talent knows no bounds
love the little impro runs he did within the song, hardly a mistake in it, long live BH!
really good buckethead, one of the best guitarrists
I watched this video when it had no more than 1,500 views, after all this time, and all the other live videos of this song, this version is still my favorite
buckethead is honestly the best soloist musician in the world! No one can compare to the pure amazingness of every single one of his riffs and solos! there is nothing like buckethead anywhere and never will be!
Buckethead is definitely one of the top3 players in the world. And he's my favorite! :D
His music is so emotive...
I wish I had even an ounce of that musical genius. Fast fingers are one thing that anyone can learn. Not many can learn to make something greater than themselves with them.
This isn't a song, its a ballad. Amazing music.
some of his improvise just sounds so great! GO buckethead he rules all over the world!
There are millions of guitarists just like Slash, thousands of which are fameous indeed. There's only one Buckethead and there never will be another one. Buckethead is just that amazing...
amazing. honestly the most skilled guitarist of all time.
noone comes close to the genius of understanding music like Buckethead does.. You have to listen to a lot of his albums to truly understand what a mastermind this guy is with a guitar.. Yeah, other people are great, but he's in a whole other league than them.. He can shred, he can go down slow like Machete, he can go acoustic like "For Mom".. wow, this is so incredibly beautiful - thank you for sharing it!
Fantastic sound.
Not many people on the earth that can create a sound like this.
I totally know what you mean. I love how artists will twist their music for the better in concerts
This is so good. I love it
well ty man i red your first comment and ty for telling me that i suck and never have touched a guitar and all the stuff, just because i ask a simple question, its nice to hear the people like you dont use to much time on youtube...
this song is the perfect mix between shred and feeling buckethead forever!
Buckethead is hands down one of the greatest guitar players to ever exist... he's in a class of his own
this is one of the best piece of guitar history.
Amazing....love the way this sounds. Hes a beast at the guitar.
this man is amazing !
Voilà ce que c'est que de la pure musique, inégalable ! Absolument le meilleur.
this guy knows how to handle a guitar... one word.. AMAZING
Want another song like that?
Rylynn - Andy McKee
Never could you ever get bored of that song.
grat video!! he is simple a magician on his guitar
on the topic of how buckethead's shredding is different to others, i have this to say:

I first heard this song when I was mad high, I just had to go find it and lo and behold when i found it again, I realized it was just as amazing when I wasnt high. Buckethead is just that good him and steve vai are just inspirational

Buckethead is a living legend. A guitar god, he is.
Long live the bucket.
Early Soothsayer was the best
I close my eyes when I listen to this anyway.

Love the intro melody, its sooo cool... Makes me cry :(
I feel bad for those kids who got stuck listening to Top 40 instead of this.

BUCKETHEAD BEST GUITARIST IN HISTORY
Hes just way too good, buckethead is a beast.
Once musicians reach a certain " Greatness" and "Technical Expertise" Who's better is just a matter of personnal taste in styles. Just shut up and enjoy the music that you like. Buckethead is pure inspiration. I couldn't give a fuck who likes who, in my eyes Buckethead is the best out there and I'll continue to enjoy his music and even do my best to keep learning it until the day I die. Peace
that like the best song ever :)
he is so wonderful!!
that solo blew my mind X_X...other words: THIS SONG IS AWESOME
its a killswitch
and if u have the LP type, ur not gonna be able to get the muted sounds as quickly as BH can, but its a really good alternative
It is so sad.
This video has almost a million views and it's not even in the top 10 Soothsayer live version list.

maybe some want to kill me now,but i watch buckethead videos every day and i respect him more and more and i trust to say, that maybe HE is the best musician which has ever lived on this planet
Buckethead never misses a single note, he improvises.
brings me back to the last month before I started college...seems so long ago.
i love this song, when im drivng i play this song all the time. this song is the longest i think... like 9 minutes........this song it really soothing =)
6:55 to 8:07 is just amazing flat out amazing this song is pure musical genius
@PhilippeMusique You know, musical taste is unimportant. What matters is openness.

And the music is pretty damn good.
Sometimes when I get really stressed out and mad at the world I listen to this song and for some reason it makes me feel ok.
Thats why we love him.
I'm going to see him in Nashville the end of this month!! I'm going to marry that dude!! LOL He's effing awesome!
Buckethead is a robot, he does not have emotions, he cannot display passion. i love pie.
I have been a fan of his since '99
He sure has a lot of balls to do something this trancy and slow live.. Can hear damned near every mistake albeit not too many ;)
I would like to see him play more fast licks out of the box, though.
thanks for sharing
That's funny because when I first started watching this video, the month it was posted, there was no such thing as "quality choice" on UA-cam.
buckethead was with g´n´r from 2000-04 as lead-guitarist;he left because of the cancelled tour dates and the long-time distance between the making of chinese democracy;there are still some parts(the solo on the on chinese democracy(the song))of him on the album, though
proof he's not just a sick guitarist, but an awesome musician..
He's amazing !!!
I that he does, but he's so amazingly talented, that he can cover it up with an even better improvisation.
Nice to see a video of him playing with a full band.
it reminds me of some kid having a bad childhood or something, he can really can show emotion just by shredding
Buckethead! I Don't Get Why people criticize him so much! I Just Guess they aren't ready for his music! It's Just that good!
i'm talking about memoravel songs that would be remember forever...
