I always listen to this imagining that I'm in one of those caves, looking at art from 40,000 years ago as firelight flickers against the walls... it makes me wonder what life was like then (likely scary and mysterious).
This artwork is brilliant. If only the Early Modern Humans who painted it could have heard this music as well. My paternal haplogroup reaches directly back to them.
+joaquim machado Alio Die is quite similar in some ways. He and Robert Rich have actually collaborated before, too. It doesn't have crickets, but check out the song, "Descending Past." It also makes excellent use of field recordings.
