Ouch, just shows the importance of changing the water pump at each Cambelt change and running the correct coolant, I learnt this the hard way 20yr ago 😂🤦♂️ Fingers crossed the valves are ok dude. Seems to turn ok, get her timed up top and bottom and cross your fingers, haha 🤞😎
I have a feeling whoever done the cam belt before I got it didnt change the water pump or tensioner, cowboy. It does feel like it turns top and bottom freely which is a good sign im hoping 🥴
Hi I'm a newbie to all this. I have just purchased a vw 97 T4 2.4 diesel non turbo . The previous owner passed away and his partner who sold me.the vehicle has no clue if any of the belts have been changed recently. Can you advise me what I should consider replacing so I don't have a Incident like this? Thanks for your time
@freakunit hi there and thank you for watching and messaging I would advise getting the belts changed so you know there done then that's the first have a look at the ball joints aswel as there always a pain but other than rust in the normal places you should be fine really
I hope the valves are not bent when the waterpump pulley snapped. But i wonder how are you going to set up timing on engine when reinstalling new belt? I am afraid there is bit more stripping and preparing work coming up on that engine for you to make that thing run again. Wish you well!
I admire your tenacity hope it all goes well for you! 👍
Thank you mate I do enjoy rebuilding engine just not my own,
This is why you always replace waterpump when doing timing belts.
& on a t4 good idea todo cam/crank seals as theyre getting old now.
Who ever done the belt before (before i owned it) didn't as it was rushed so back and looked older than proper should
