Nice diag & repair Joe. Saved the customer some $$ parts & labor and the truck doesn't know the difference. Now the truck is running good and hopefully you'll have a loyal customer.
After replacing the neutral safety switch on the clutch, the starter, the Ignition, it ended up being a starter cellinoid switch part number motorcraft F5-TU-11450. Cost was $24 at Advanced Auto Parts. 9/17/23. Replacement took 5 mins. Skill level is you can do with your eyes closed. Need a 14 mm wrench and 8mm socket. My wife helped turn the key with the clicking noise comming from the drive side fender area. I located the part bolted to the inside of the fender. Everyone needs the wifediagnostic expert, she really saved the day!
Just had the same no crank no start on my 02 ranger 3.0 and stumbled across your video. My situation turned out to be a loose ground, but I did learn from your video troubleshooting. Thanks man!
Good video nice to see someone who knows his stuff with electrics with a proper check out and not afraid to get involved a do a fix on an older truck instead of charging extras for a new box. Skills are key ,good man.
I just found your video while looking through other troubleshooting videos for my 2009 Ranger I may have this similar issue since I can't get a reading on the code reader. But I like your step by step diagnosis for the electrical.I will be testing it over the next few days .I will let you know if I find it .Thanks for the video and helpful instruction.
Thanks this shows that I have been looking for with my truck and this shows a wire bad in the fuse box feedings the pcm and it not having power when a scan tool is plugged in the computer doesn't so as being powered and I was looking for where to look and this video shows me the same issy that my truck is having I should have looked for this video sooner and I could have been driving the truck instead of working on it thanks for this video I we'll have my truck ready for work soon and have a good vehicle to use
I had some wires on a bcm that were horrible, They were full of green crust and and some looked tarnished, so I thought snip em back go get some from j.y. wait a minute why not use the hand held sand blaster from harbor freight, man it cleaned those things up like brand new.
Nice diagnosis and repair, that would have been my best repair option as well on a car that age. Bet your repair will outlast the car. Have you tried liquid flux ?. I find it brilliant for wiring repairs.
I believe today i found out that is exactly what is wrong with my Ranger; the starter is good, the ignition switch is good, the peddle safety is good, the relay is being powered, but i dont get the signal voltage from ignition switch to starter. What i did get from ny voltage meter is that voltage flows into motor block, when ignition key is turned on
You ever get one of these where it has the CEL when key on but when you try to start, get a momentary crank at starter but then the whole truck goes dead(lights and all) the only way to get power back to anything is unhook/rehook battery. Im assuming its a junk cable to the starter but cant figure out what would be killing all power to everything
Is this a common problem? I just picked up a ranger today and he said he couldn't get it to crank and I can't check it out can't till tomorrow afternoon
Sitting here in the park, dead. Waiting on my tow. Got a new battery and alternator yesterday.... 2002 Ford Ranger Echo. I have heard it is a common problem. Lots of videos about it on YT.
Fuel to burn, oxygen to support combustion, and an ignition source to start combustion. This is were you start your diagnostic. He has lost ground to the ignition coils betcha.
@@JoesAutoElectric Most people can't solder for shit with the soldering iron. And you did it with a Blow Torch to boot. You know how many mechanics just heat the solder and let it run. Never mind never use flux. Great to see it done right.
I like how this guy Just Smokes over the vehicle and has ashes just everywhere. Also in the beginning of the video doesn't anybody bother to question why was the starter replaced first without testing the starter on a machine to see if it was good or not. Having general knowledge is good but troubleshooting is key to not charge the customer an arm and a leg or something that could have just been simply diagnosed. Who said it wasn't helpful other than the schematics
If what you got out of the video was the fact that I smoke over a vehicle you should probably be watching something else. And did you assume that we put the starter in the vehicle? If so, listen better next time. We did not change anything on the vehicle without testing. It was done elsewhere. Go take some more videos of fires instead of seeing if you could be useful to the people involved. Clown.
The man clearly said in the very beginning that the customer had a starter put in and no luck AND THEN AFTER THAT they had the truck towed into Joe Electrical. SMH some people can't help themselves by not giving where credit is due. The fact that you Even wrote that in the comments and your hundred percent wrong is hysterical.

What a hack . The other option is to spend less than a dollar to fix it permanently by replacing the connector and putting it back in the main fuse box done I've done it plenty of times so simple

Not sure what you mean by voltage from motor block. Sounds to me like I'd be load testing grounds.

Did a wire completely pop out of fuse box accidentally?
Do 2000 ish ford ranger starter relays need to be replaced frequently?
That's my 2000 Ranger I'm trying to fix now , relays are good
Good job, hope mine is something easier
On mine I can put a jumper wire and start it. Should I consider checking under the fuse box for this??
Outstanding!
Hey! Could you help me with a no start 2003 vw beetle crank but no start?
