Those weren't trawlers, they were whalers hunting those two blue whales. Captain Cooke didn't sink an innocent trawler, he saved a majestic pair of blue whales. 😁
Pentagon: we have no nearby forces that can successfully destroy these submarines. SIR!! This British sub 1000 miles away is the only thing in range, it is our only hope.
I'm hoping we get a post campaign video in the style of the intro videos. I feel like captain Cook deserves that. I'm also hoping if you do a 60s campaign it features captain Cook's father. Captain Cook senior
South China Sea campaign seems really interesting - especially seeing as we still have a Trafalgar knocking about somewhere, would be cool to see it compete with more contemporary designs
What a Playthrough. Was hooked from Episode 1 onwards. Lots of memorable moments, like the beached Sverdlov, the Sinking of Trafalgar, and the Kirov. Would love to see how the South China Sea Campaign would look like, and even more so, how a Trafalgar would fare in those conditions. Anyways, thank you very much for taking us all along on this adventure. Cheers!
Well if he played the South China Sea campaign he would have spearfish which is one of the best torpedos out there coupled with the fact that the Trafalgar is in many ways better than a 688 means it would certainly be an interesting campaign
It was epic, he really does some great work. Coincidently, I am wafting around the South China Sea in a campaign right now - albeit mine is perhaps not as enigmatic as the affable SorcererDave!
If "The hunt for Red October" was a british movie... "You've found something biologial." "What is it?" " A blue whale. A marine mamal that knows more about submarine tactics than you, seaman Beaumont." "What are you? Big son of a B..." "The fate of the world rests on that one shoddily manufactured british torpedo." "Left full rudder! What's he doing? Battle tactics! He closed the range to the torpedo before it could go active." "You soddy Jim? I'll make extra sure you die!"
You're probably aware, but DotMod has a LOT of the 60s vintage British subs now - you should definitely give them a try! The Valiant Class is a surprisingly good hull with an unsurprisingly shitty torpedo
What an amazing series! So many 'on the edge of your seats' moments. I really thought you were done for when you were at the edge of the pack ice! Loving your work, I truly would love to see some more campaigns. I was quite bummed out to see you didn't do any more campaigns. The format you layed out was superb, your background knowledge of cold war submarines was excellent (a few minor points here and there but nothing to get fussed over) and a good general sense of humour just kept me coming back. I really do hope you consider re-visiting Cold Waters. 🙂
Great stuff, Dave! Enjoyed every minute. Loved this intro, more than usual. Reminds me of a reverse-Dr-Strangelove sort of plot. And probably some other films I haven't yet seen lol. I like to think the commander of the Delta was ranting and raving about vodka, rain water, and precious bodily fluids while evading your torpedos lol. Glad the end result wasn't the same as that film, though!
YEA!!!! A very fine job bro!!! When we won the war General Patten was riding through with his guard, a while down the road his guard leaned over to whisper to Patten and said, Remember General, Glory is flighting
I have really enjoyed this series. The intro's from the captain's perspective are brilliant and really gives a deeper insight into the campaign and the narrative in general. Thank you for the many hours of entertainment and I do hope to tune into a South China Sea campaign in the future
I can't believe my eyes. Dave has survived a full ironman campaign! Spectacular show my dude, glad I tuned in for this series back when it started. Been a hell of a ride.
Hell of a run, Dave. This playthrough has been an absolute blast. I realize that recording this series has been something of an undertaking for you, and I want to thank you profusely for the hours of entertainment.
Bravo Zulu! Excellent gameplay. I Very much enjoyed seeing the effort you put into this, especially since you finished of on the mighty Tireless (a submarine I served on, with many fond memories).
If you do more cold waters I personally would like to see a soviet campaign, perhaps working up to an Oscar in honor of that one sub that gave you so much trouble. I wouldn't really recommend the south china sea campaign, even with DOTmod, the variety of enemy ships is a bit lacking
Absolutely amazing series! This Cold Waters campaign is the first non elderscrolls related play through I have ever watched and I was hooked from the beginning. That is due to your amazing ability to weave a story that made me care for the captain and crew! I can’t wait for another Cold Waters campaign! Oh and thank you for the recommendation for Wolfpack, I have been binge watching his Cold Waters as well! Cheers!
Oh my god!!! A new, and this time really new; 2 mins old, hot off the presses Cold Waters video!!! I'm so happy😁 Holy cow, that intro was a-ma-zing... I forgot there was an entire episode yet to come😅 ... OMG, what a fittingly epic episode... And I have imagined a khajiit in command the whole time😆 And as for which campaign...: Yes... all of them plz, it'll be great😁
USET 80 is not wire guided, he probably fired 1 USET and 1 TEST 71, its a killer combo against nuclear subs, USET 80 forces them to turn and evade so the TEST 71 can catch up, TEST 71 guarantees the killshot.
The goosebumps on that final mission! What a great series, the intros really set the mood for each episode and you could feel the tension of every engagement. If more Cold Waters is on the horizon I'll be looking forward to it!
This series was an absolute pleasure to watch. Thanks for seeing it through (and dealing with the manic moments of stress)! Hope to see some Spearfish game play one day.
That was an excellent end to a difficult challenge. I'd award you a special medal on the basis you listened and started guiding your torpedoes. Thank you. I'm hoping for a new mission. The 1960's could be very slow. RN with Spearfish sounds like fun. I just want to see the RN with decent torpedoes.
What a fantastic episode. Your introduction was absolutely amazing. Captain Cooke, Owen Bradshaw, and the rest of the crew certainly proved themselves in that spectacular mission.
The whole series you had it wrong, the torpedo you considered USET 80 were actually TEST 71M that had wire guidance, the pair that sank the Trafalgar were these buggers, USET 80 were normal acoustic homing ones which had max depth of 1000 m, TEST 71Ms had only 500m depth, if only you didn't had this confusion the whole series, Trafalgar would be still in service, a lot of your attacks would have gone far better 🥲, anyways, nice series overall
This series has been excellent. Thankyou for doing this one. And one of the series has got me onto the channel alongside the previous series of IL2 with Gaston.
Just wanted to add my own note of thanks for this series. It's been gripping and entertaining thoughout, and even occasionally educational. Thanks again.
Really enjoyed this series, can’t wait for another one. Finally finished my own British 1984 campaign, I got gifted 2 Delta IV in the final mission, escorted by a Sierra and an Alfa, that got rather tense in shallow water… Fortunately the Alfa tried to surface and got stuck in ice, and the Sierra couldn’t outwit a single Tigerfish
Incredible playthrough, incredible story, incredible mod! Would love to see more submarine content, as it is tense and satisfying in a way that I wasn't anticipating enjoying, but ended up being hooked on episode 1!
Found your channel because of 40k battle reports, was sad cause you stopped doing them. Then saw this, bloody amazing. More like this please Dave, very enjoyable!
I just went through my first Endgame mission against 2 Alfas and a Delta 3. The strangest encounter I've ever had. Both Alfas were just running in circles at 20kts and the Delta in slightly larger ones at 10kts. I just sat there watching them for ages trying to figure what the hell they were doing XD
While I do support the previous comments on SCS campaign, I think it would be rather interesting to see your speen on the Soviet campaign (80s or earlier). P.S. Also, it's rather weird to me (as a Russian) how in intro you decided to use (so to say) "cutesy" Lyosha and Kolya (while all other names are "proper") and extremely rare name Vikentiy (if I heard it correctly). If you might be interested, there is a video by KolkoCat called "How to Write a Russian" (although with some very minor inaccuracies) that might be useful in your future endeavours. P.P.S. I genuelly hope that this little rant of mine doesn't seem to you as an attempt to be a prick. I just wanted to point out some things that stuck out to me. EDIT: grammar

My god. I don't think I've watched a full playthrough on youtube since I was much, much younger. It always seemed like too much time for too little return. But this series has been worth every minute I watched, and all the time I was waiting for new episodes. I hope it was also worth the time you put in. I am deeply gratefull for your effort. Thank you. (The only thing I hoped for that didn't come true was an Intro-Style naration for the outro. One last story from captain cook, as he watches out over the ice from HMS Tireless, knowing that the world he sees would not end today, and that he and his men would get to go home at last. But that is a negligable detail compared to the effort that went into all this already, and the series is amazing as it is)
Does the South China Sea campaign with Dot Mod have the Astute class? Could have Ed Cooke's son commanding the sub trying to live up to his father's legacy.
They haven't gotten an Asute in yet but I think they might be working on one, It being the UK's current and newest attack sub details are likely difficult to obtain.
Well played Dave! Brilliant series from start to finish! The Oberon is British but they recently added a bunch of others, sadly they also ruined the Trafalagar by adding maximum launch depths and shallowing up the Tigerfish which makes it even more useless.
More accurate though, so I don't have a problem with that. They did make the wires a bit more reliable though, so they're still usable. I've had quite a bit of success in the Churchill class since I recorded this video. ;)
@@SorcererDave I found Spearfish to be stupidly easy to use in the 2000's campaign, Trafalgar seemed to get a slight upgrade too. I Don't know what to try to be honest... Congratulations on your victory and thanks for a fantastic series. I'd never even heard of this game before I was introduced to the channel earlier in the year after the algorithm suggested episode 4. The intro was what got me invested in the outcome, and after going back to the start, I've been eagerly awaiting every episode since. Shame that it's over, but looking forward to the potential of more to come.

Briliant serie with those thrilling starts for each episode. Thanks I assume Cpt Cooke got to visit HM The Queen and truly deserved that Knighthood for his achievements. 🎖 Sir Edward Cooke now surely retired and perhaps live happily in his cottage somewhere on the Cornish coast. His days now filled with attending his rose garden and sipping tea in the afternoon. A wee dram in the evening perhaps, looking out over the sea remembering how he once dominated the enemy fleet. This last episode had a bit of scary look perhaps not back in the past but maybe into the future in what today is a likely similar happening. I do hope to follow you into whatever new campaign you decide to start. It has been just brilliant Well done 👍
Both happy and sad this series has come to an end this game is what helped me find your channel, would love to sea you take on the south china sea campaign
Great intro, yet again. I'll admit, you got me with the title, intro, and the way that encounter started. Well done, in the end. Someone get the good scotch!
Have been following the entire series and loved it, the intros are awesome. Actually went back multiple times between releases to just start again. Would love to see another series. Maybe not even from the view of a submarine but from a Type 21 or Type 42 class, with the new version of dotmod they should have the ASW Helicopters. Or if its possible maybe Trafalgar in the South China Sea.
Unfortunately, while you can play as a surface ship in dotmod, doing so in a campaign is so unrealistic that I'd rather not. IRL surface ships operate together in groups, and while you can justify a submarine operating alone most of the time, the idea of the navy sending a single destroyer to go and attack an entire Soviet battlegroup by itself is kind of preposterous. When Sea Power eventually releases, then we'll be able to do some proper surface combat, hopefully.
Barely begunn the episode and already habing shivers. What a masterfull intro again, Dave. Edit: And it stays great till the end! Vote for South China Sea as well. But maybe think about playing china as a change? (If that is possible that is.)

10/10 from intro to end. I was legit rooting for you throughout, completely immersed.
Absolutely love it! I did enjoy every episode of this campaign and each time I waited for the next one eagerly.

Please sir, I beseech of you, do another series in either this campaign or another campaign. Live your subsim content
I loved this series and was sad to see it would only be 16 episodes long.
Loved it dave! Thanks for the great content
Absolutely magnificent series, loved every minute. Hope you’ll come back to more cold waters, South China Sea campaign seems pretty interesting
