I loved the PS2 version. Because you could get yourself a drink or a snack while the level was loading...and still make it back in time without missing a thing lol
That's one thing that still catches me off guard with native PS5 games. I'll load up a game, pull out my phone, and once I open an app I'll see the game is already loaded lol
GameCube seemed higher resolution and brighter but it was almost completely lacking in shadows while the PS2 had them. The lack of shadows takes away from the character and environmental depth. If you had the resolution and brighter image of the GameCube and the shadow qaulity of the PS2 version it would make the best port. I bet the Xbox version is the best graphicly
It kinda is. It even has different textures on the model while the ps2 sorta has this thing where textures look like they've been smudged but thats for alot of games on the ps2 since its technically the weakest power wise to the gamecube and xbox its propably a way to compensate.
Not only graphically, it added fur to Crash, Coco and Pura, a 720p resolution that could be upscaled to 1080i, better controls, an improvement in textures by adding more quality, improved shadows making it not look as dark as on PS2, added 60 fps to the European version, shortened the loading screens from 30 seconds on PS2 to 5 seconds and these were stable and currently with the breakability it can be played in a 4k upscaling.
Yeah it was the first game i played on ps2 and the loading times was like 2 mins. Also i got one of those early ps2 version which sounded like a frickin airplane
The GameCube version is really bad. It is not worth owning, because of the horrific framerate alone. I suppose the sound effects are of a higher quality than PS2 and it has faster loading, but even then, they don’t save the poor performance. I get that it was ported by a different team, but even then, it’s just a badly optimized port. The same team released Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy, which is night and day compared to their earlier offering on the same system. Another TT game, Finding Nemo, also had a terrible GameCube port and I’d say it’s even worse than WoC’s GameCube port. It has a framerate that is so inconsistent, not to mention there are striking differences between each revision for that version alone. The original release (V1.0) in North America and the Japanese version both run at 30FPS, the Player’s Choice (V1.1) runs at 60FPS and PAL runs at 50FPS. However, they all drop frames so heavily. I’d say the NA V1.0 is the worst, because that has the extremely long loading times that can last 1 minute to 2 minutes for each stage. V.1.1 and the Japanese version fixed it, thankfully. The PAL version is basically a Frankenstein’s monster, because it does have long loading (although nowhere near as long as NA V1.0) and a higher frame rate cap, albeit lower since its 50Hz only. Regardless, every single one is horrible and not worth playing. I know it’s a different game, but the early TT games of that generation weren’t optimised at all for the GameCube. At least the Lego games are worth playing on the console. For the Wrath of Cortex, I can easily say it’s much better on PS2 and Xbox.
I think Eurocom was specifically in charge of porting Wrath of Cortex to the GameCube. If this is the case then it makes much more sense why it's so badly optimized, but yeah, it's bad.
I prefer the PS2 version because it is the best It is faster and easier to play although it has its flaws such as the loading screen in the normal edition since in the greatest hits version the loading screen lasts between 10 to 20 seconds
@@wdcain1 At no time did I say that the greatest hits edition has worse loading times, I only said that the greatest hits edition has shorter loading times because if you play in the normal edition it takes time to start the level and also the greatest hits edition allows the experience be more pleasant and both the normal edition and the greatest hits edition remain the same in the graphics only that the difference between the normal edition and greatest hits modifies the box counter hub I do not mean that the game is bad on PS2 I'm just saying that both the normal and greatest hits edition of PS2 is enjoyable and that everything is fine in the game
Sometimes the difference between a handheld console or a normal console game that the graphics are visibly worse and much brighter. Or maybe a completely different game like Crash of The Titans DS vs PS2
Gamecube: - Some of the lighting has either been downgraded or completely removed. i.e: the sphere in the sphere level and crash's model. - Snow particles are completely gone. - Shadows are missing some of that softness from the PS2. - Reflections have been downgraded. - The lights in the sphere level barely give any light due to how excessively bright or over simplified the game's lighting is overall. - Cleaner image resolution than PS2 (only positive). - Missing a unique song from the medieval sphere level. PS2: - Better shaders and lighting. - Snow particles are fully present. - Soft shadows. - Lower resolution than the Gamecube. - Slower load times than the Gamecube unless you have the Greatest Hits/Platinum to make them on par with the GC. Xbox: - Graphically speaking (lighting, shadows, shaders, etc), it's the same as the PS2. The only exception being that Crash's fur was enhanced. - Runs at 480p and has the cleanest image quality overall, especially with HDMI/Component. - Load times for levels are 5 seconds. - Is also missing the unique medieval sphere level song. I'd personally pick the Xbox version even though it's not on this video. But you can't go wrong with the PS2 Greatest Hits versions with much faster load times.
The music also doesn't loop on the PS2 or GameCube with the PS2 not looping for 1 second while the GameCube doesn't loop for 5 seconds while on the Xbox the music does loop like Medieval Madness on the PS2
The PS2 is darker overall, but the GC version is brighter overall. However, some lighting seems to have been simplified. The PS2 version is stable at 60 fps, but has noticeable jaggies due to the interlaced output. The GC has a cleaner output but inconsistent frame rate. It's hard to say which one is better, but the differences are also tasty when you consider that the developers were struggling to produce the same picture on both hardware when the libraries were not well developed so soon after the hardware's release.
PS2 looks more original feel despite the darker screen & the GameCube version reminds me of Sonic Adventure XD: Director's Cut-👎.
If you use component or RGB scart cables the image will be brighter and much more vibrant
I wonder if the Xbox version had some differences.
if it had, to make it short, it added fur to Crash, Coco and Pura, a 720p resolution that could be upscaled to 1080i, better controls, an improvement in textures by adding more quality, improved shadows making it not look as dark as on PS2, added 60 fps to the European version and these were stable and currently with the breakability it can be played in a 4k upscaling
the gamecube was the superior console when it comes to power back in those days, just the library was lacking outside of first party nintendo games
what about the xbox version
Use combonent cabels with ps2 or hdmi converter
it's with the hdmi converter
why ps2 is always so dark than others consoles
i don't know
@@GroupMPro may be your capture software has different presets/settings for interlace and progressive content. As i guess the Gamecube version was captured in progressive scan and the ps2 in interlace?
I prefere gamecube version its much more cleaner than ps2 blurry
Yeah I actually prefer the lighter and more colourful graphics on the gc version
GAME CUBE WIN ON ALL THE WAY MUCH MUCH BETTER GRAPHIC AND IN ALL PS2 HORRIBLE
Good luck on that, buddy. Unfortunately, It doesn't save how very shitty GameCube version version runs. Get mad at me all you want but you can't change people's opinions on which version they prefered the most.
like a remaster
GameCube the Best ... Game Cube the Legend
Didnt help the PS2 version was on a blue disc
Why were the graphics so weird in this game
The game developing time was too short
