I'm a UP fan, so I really enjoy the yellow workhorses in this video. As always the locations are breathtaking and your aerial footages are fantastic. It's incredible they could rebuild the Dry Canyon trestle under a month. I guess the job was pretty urgent, because the railroad couldn't use the line. I really enjoy your videos and your uploads indeed deserves more attention. Hopefully one day the algorithm picks up your channel and your stats will be better. Keep up the great job Dan, your work is much appreciated.
Thanks a lot! Yes this is the mainline between the Northwest and California so they didn't mess around on rebuild time to get it operational again. I appreciate the kind words!
Thanks for the update on the trestle. UP should put out a time-lapse video of the trestle work. It must have been an all-hands-on-deck operation. That was an awesome shot of the train and shadow pacing themselves.
Another epic Video Dan, nice job with the Drone. The scenery is awesome. Love the weed sprayer, could be a good kitbash in N Scale. Thanks again AAA+++
The guardrail on the Cantera loop North of Dunsmir was installed due to a Southern Pacific derailment on that very bridge July 14, 1991. Unfortunately one of the tanker cars that went into the Sacramento River below was filled with 19,000 gallons of Herbicide that all spilled out and pretty much killed everything in the river all the way down to Lake Shasta. It's been 29 years since the incident and the area still hasn't fully recovered.
Thanks a lot Ken! So if you remember in Drayton's derailment video he talked about the Dry Canyon Trestle from the Lava Fire that burned on the UP. That is this trestle you see here a couple different times. All patched up and repaired here! This video was shot just a few months or so after repairs were completed.
Mt. Shasta and that area never disappoints. Just like your aerial vids and the epic sounds, you produce. And of course all those, in the rail industry, that make it happen, on those silver steel ribbons. Thank You, Dan and take care, with the holidays coming up. Happy Trails!
As usual, Dan, fabulous work! Your drone is very impressive. It looks as if you were the one parked in the old "Y" (across the right-of-way from the old water tower...) where they cut out and turned the helper units back in the days of steam. That's beautiful country, and I hauled hundreds of loads of logs through there in my younger days. Thanks for the fond memories!
Nice video Dan as always. nice shot of the Dry canyon trestle. I have my drone now in my semi I have it ready to go on my passenger seat just add my cell phone so i can get some good videos when i come across good stuff. thanks for the inspiration.
Glad to see the old water tower still standing. The Dry Creek Bridge would be a good example for using Micro Engineering's trestle bridge set. Correct me if I'm wrong, it looks as though some of those areas had been fire ravaged.
Beautiful! At 17:32 is that an old wye near the old water tank? I'd love to see some videos of them rebuilding the trestle after the fire. Getting that huge crane there must have been a nightmare. Your videos are very nice. Thanks for sharing them with us.
Great video, Dan! The trains and the scenery were magnificent especially the views of Mt. Shasta and pf the Dry Creek Canyone Testle! The length of some of the trains was amazing. It seemed like they went on and on. That Union Pacific weed spraying train is an interesting machine. Is this a unique, one of a kind, train or are there muntilple copies of this weed spraying train? I remember seeing either this train or an similar train in a video of the Big Boy in Missouri when the Big Boy was on its way to St. Louis in August or September, 2021. The video in question was captured by Jaw Tooth and uploaded to his UA-cam channel. Thank you for spending the time to document these trains and for compiling this video for our enjoyment!
Thanks a lot Thomas! As far as I know that weed sprayer is one of a kind on the whole system UP MOW does have multiple of that type of modified locomotive but the train is completely unique. It very well could have been that same train in the other video.
It's the most advanced drone I've ever had and I wouldn't trade it for the world. I really couldn't imagine flying anything lesser as my primary drone at this point in time. I've been flying it almost 2 years now.
@@TheRailfanDan Thanks for all of your replies. It's amazing the technology has come with drones, seeing things that in the past was impossible to see.
No DPU or rear manned helpers hear. There are helpers out of Dunsmuir to bring trains up the hill headed North but those are used to split trains in half and bring them up in two pieces. The main reason being to avoid stringlining between Dunsmuir and Mott.
Oh yes I've had one fall out of the sky from 300 feet above the ground into a field because somehow a propeller came off. I've also had another that lost connection out of nowhere when I was flying over an extremely dense forest region and I never saw it again. It can be a stressful business.
Thanks. that's splendid masterpiece- Catchy ou later- 🙌
Thanks!

Your choice of music could be a channel in itself the trains take to another level
Well thanks a lot for that!

Yeah I know they had a couple huge cranes out there to assist in the rebuild.
Mr. Dan.....as a professional musician, I tell you that your videos are works of art. I enjoy them so much. Blessings to you and yours.
Thank you very much!
Another masterpiece Dan. Thank you.
Thanks Phill!

It was quite a bad ordeal indeed...
Marvelous, your videos are absolutely gorgeous. This one here is a work of art.

I love this part of the line and it was always hard to see without extensive hiking. This is wonderful; thank you for taking me there.
Thanks Brian I'm glad I could bring it to you.
Great sundown shot of the train with the step lights on underneath the locomotives.
Drones are amazing--Your video and how you incorporate the music is superb !
I loved the Shasta shot ... everything looks better from the air. :)
Thanks I think so too!
Beautiful again Dan. I would love to model that weed sprayer !!!!!
Thanks Mike!
Masterful flying there, ace. Wonderful footage too. Awesome video, Dan!
Thanks a lot!
Excellent work once again Dan. I always look forward to your videos.
Thanks Tom I'm glad to hear it! Helps me keep going.

Pleasant closing scene. I loved it!

Great thank you!
Danke!
Thank you so much!
You've done it again, excellent Dan.
Thanks a lot Jodie!
Wonderful, fantastic, magnific! Great images! Very beautiful work! Congratulations, Dan!
Thanks you!
Love seeing places I saw as a child living in Weed and, more recently from a very late Amtrak Starlight.

Thanks a lot Robert! Yep there did used to be a wye there at Grass Lake. It is beautiful country indeed.
At Grass Lake (15:45) you can see the remnants of the Y that SP used to turn the helpers for their return to Dunsmuir back in the days of steam.

Thank you Kevin! Very cool!
Some utterly spectacular locations, Dan, thanks for another awesome tour of places I will likely never see !
Thanks James!
Merry Christmas!🎅🎄Dan!
It wonders me how much toiling work Railfan Dan puts in to make such ebchanting and captivating videos.
Thanks so much!
Beautiful !!

Choice of music very good
Just for the heck of it i copied and pasted the drone you are using, wow very impresive and looks like big bucks.

@@TheRailfanDan Thanks for all of your replies. It's amazing the technology has come with drones, seeing things that in the past was impossible to see.
great drone action I’m surprised the first couple of trains had no engines on the back of the train, I thought UP always uses them?

3:15 in at Hotlum, the lead locomotive looks like it might have been through the fire. Unless it's another heritage unit from Uncle Pete!
Ha yeah not looking to good.
Have you ever had issues with your drone and if so could you share some of them. I really enjoy your videos.

Top 👍👍👍
Love this Chanel
Thanks!
Also northbound trains can be at least partially loaded depending on the train. I've seen plenty of northbounds with cars that are loaded.
6:30 if any of those centerbeams are from Santiam Lumber (Weyerhaeuser), I loaded those cars
Nice! I'm not sure where AERC cars end up when they hit the class 1's.
This is the area I watch/chase/hunt for trains in...
22:25 what is that locomotive? never seen before
It was converted from a SD40 for MOW to use.
@@TheRailfanDan why they can't use regular locomotive, does it have special equipment?
@@awaken77 I'm not sure on that but I know there are several of these in the UP fleet.
It is a real shame all that Mountain Forest near Mount Shasta was burned down
Nice video of a place not well known to railfans.
I Look at the views not the trains lol
Places in Oregon and Places you will maybe never see unless your on amtrak
