I made it down there today. There's now a rope at the rock face on the route the RRU crew went. I much prefer your route. Your video helped tremendously.
The way they went down was the original route, as you can see after years of traffic it’s almost bare rock now tho. Glad the video was helpful, great area, thanks for watching Alan!
Hi, I just came across your channel on UA-cam, very interesting! I live very close to the gorge, but I'm disabled and cannot hike anymore, so I'm really enjoying watching your videos of the gorge, the arches and wildflowers!
Oh man I wish I had watched your video before I did this yesterday 😂 I went the rope route and between that and the steep rock scramble with the couple trees in the corner, I was really questioning my life decisions for a few minutes. Made it out though!
Yeah the rope route has pretty much lost all soil and vegetation from traffic. Glad you was able to manage it tho, great area and awesome arch! Thanks for watching!
Yep that was me, got to go out with Bill and another arch hunter to document some of his finds. There’s a couple arches I found on Vol 10 as well. It’s a fun hobby and you may very well find a new one yourself, you’d be surprised how many there are that are undocumented and how many that wind up being found close to arches that have already been documented. Sometimes they like to stay hid in that thick rhododendron lol
Thanks for taking us along, D_Rob. Heading to the gorge this weekend. Might try for Star Gap Arch. Might not. May depend on the parking situation. One thing is for certain, La Cabana serves huge portions.
Thanks for watching! Idk if you’ve watched the full video but at the end of my Auxier Loop video I go to Star Gap. Actually revisited Star Gap this week myself, one of my faves in RRG. Facts! I always say if you leave La Cabana hungry it’s your own fault, it ain’t cause there wasn’t enough food lol
@@ExploringWithDRob Yes, I asked about Star Gap Arch and you posted it in your next upload. I appreciate it! I walked right over it on my last visit. Pretty confident I can find it now thanks to you.
Awesome, hope you have better luck this time! I’ve heard of several people not being able to find it, it’s not too bad once you know where to go down at tho.
@@ExploringWithDRob Found it! Can't believe I walked over it last time. Thanks for your help. And the Tacos de Carne Azada at La Cabana are my new favorite.
Great stuff as always. So I've seen on a map or 2, maybe even on the red river underground video you referenced, something call "Schmidt's rock" if i recall. It's appearently on that first ridge you start on but straight past that last campsite instead of taking that left. I spent a little time looking for something that looked significant enough to have a name but didn't see anything that jumped out at me. There are no pictures or information of any kind on the net either. Are you familiar with this formation at all? Thanks for any info and as always thanks for the content.
Thanks man! I think Schmidt’s Rock is labeled on the OutraGis maps and I think that’s what Red River Underground uses as well. That ridge ends as a narrow finger ridge and the rock outcrop at the end to my knowledge is what’s known as Schmidt’s Rock.

Beautiful pictures of the fog!
Thanks! I love me some atmospheric conditions!

You’ll have to check this one out sometime.

I saw you on DVD #10. Congrats, that is cool you are out there finding stuff and helping document it. I hope to find one myself one day!

Sweet! And it’s hard to be a post hike meal at La Cabana!
Cool video!!!
Thanks!
Hi, Rob
Just watched your Mystery Falls video

How many trails are there total at RRG do u know? Thanks 🙃
Roughly 30 official trails not counting the 10 or so trails at Natural Bridge State Park. Lots of trails!
@@ExploringWithDRob oh wow ok thank you
You’re welcome
