Yah, it’s part of a Yooper seven course meal. A pasty and a six pack of beer.

Pasties are awesome! This is by far the best instructional pasty making video I've seen, and I've watched a lot of them! You made it look fairly simple and easy. I'll be trying your recipe for sure. I think the bigger argument is over rutabagas. My dad loves them. They don't bother me. Ya put enough ketchup, butter and pepper on them, who can tell anyways? 😉😎👍

Also, pasties can be found in northern Minnesota. I think Betty's Pies or another place along the North Shore sells them.

Thanks! I really appreciate it. I didn't grow up with pasties, but when I loved them when I discovered them. They're so good and really aren't too hard to make.

I don’t know if you’re from michigan, but your banter definitely reminds me of the region. I appreciate how simple you keep it.

Couple of things I do. Add a pinch of salt to your dough ( I use Pink Himalayan or sea salt) Remember, salt is a conveyor of taste. Also make sure your water is cold, I start by putting the water in the freezer when I start gathering my ingredients. You can add a shot of Vodka in the mix also. This, along with the cold water will keep gluten from forming in your dough. If your using any type of steak, throw it in the freezer with the water, which makes it easier to cut, then cube it to your liking and sear it in a cast iron fry pan with LOTS of butter, this goes a long way in sealing the flavor of the meat while cooking. I know a lot of these tips are common knowledge, I'm just considering those people who are just learning how to cook. Great video BTW.

I lived in Australia and this is their go to fast food. They made so many different types. The best were from local bakeries but even the fast food places with 200 different types were awesome. I make them from time to time. You should look at sausage rolls for a future video. Its another simple clasic food that is delicious. Love your channel.

My mom's recipe which I was raised up on , I loved her pasties, she ground all her vegetables and had 1 lb. lean ground beef, I'm getting ready to make these tonight with ground round and half lb. of your favorite pork sausage! Half a cup of parsley flakes and a can of mushroom soup! Other than that she used the same vegetables you did but a small amount of carrots!

I worked in a pasty shop many years ago loved them.
Been looking for a recipe (love utube) this is the one.
Only difference was the shape. Make squares 1 cup per square wrap like a gift then brush with milk.
    Brown gravy 😊

Rutabaga is optional. I grew up in the U.P. had pasties weekly. Never saw them with gravy. That's an eastern U.P./ Northern lower Michigan thing. I only ever saw them served with ketchup. They're also magnificent cold ✌️

this is the first all butter video I have seen, do you happen to know which is easier to work with, the dough I mean? Many use lard and butter, some use all. shortening I just will. probably do several experiments to see! Tyvm for your video, I really enjoyed you getting to the point of what you needed to say! To many people may take 20-30 to say what you said in just a few! You deserve an A+ for your awesome video! If you haven't tried it yet, try letting one cool overnight in the fridge and eat it cold with no toppings! Now that is how I love to eat my pasties, never warm!

lard is easier to work with, butter tastes better. personally, i use half of each if i can.

A proper pasty! Prefer mine with steak and of course as someone in the UK there is no debate - it’s ketchup. Also no debate you were awesome.

Why are you putting gravy on the pasty, its supposed to be served with ketchup, it's not a Banquet Pot Pie.
