- Extreme Scientist Sarah Gulch demonstrates what happens if you put a burning candle inside a sealed jar. A common misconception is that the candle goes out and the water rises because it consumes all the oxygen inside the jar. That is not what is going on.

Ya so your fingers are wet
I still believe that fire consumes atmosphere, and creates a vacuum. Yes there were bubbles before flame extinguished but that’s just the process of suction and consumption.
CH4(its not methane but a similar substance) + 2 O2 --> CO2 + 2H2O. You could say that the expansion in the begginning is partially helped by the water vapour coming into play(2 molecules of oxygen to 1 molec. of CO2 and 2 of Water. 2->3 means it expands. Gasses all have the same volume regardless of their composition. The decrease of pressure can only be explained by the gases cooling since there is no more reaction going on. Again partially aided by the water condensing.
cool thank you ,you helped me with my school project
Branden M - Maybe a plumber's child allowed to look up project info.
