It's to try to see if they can get more clicks on the video with a different title/thumbnail. This was also helped by UA-cam introducing a feature for some channels where they can upload three thumbnails and UA-cam will try out 1 of the 3 with various people and then settle on which ever thumbnail ended up getting the most clicks.
