My how things have changed a lot. I remember the old days of Downtown Trenton & Trenton in general. I remember Kresges, The 5 & dime store, Two Guys, Woolworths, Atlantic Mills, Murphy Store, Home Furniture. the Mayfair Theatre , where I went with my sister and husband,and the Lincoln Movie Theatre building, which was still standing when I was young.
when i was a kid me and my brother went to the rko and seen a move for 50cts we take the bus for 15cts and have money for popcorn,i miss my little brother and the times so much.
One of my summer programs was at the YWCA in Downtown Trenton where I had swimming class, music, gymnastics when I was young. I drove by there to see if it was still in use, but it is not. There used to be a small diner located at the corner across the street from where the YWCA on East State Street is located if I am correct about the spot. I used to eat breakfast there with my Mom and Dad on weekends when we would go shopping in Downtown Trenton and I loved the food there. I think that place has been torn down .
Once Carmen Armenti was gone so was Trenton. Holland, Palmer, and Mack hurt this once great town. Trenton had its share of different type of government. Get George Muschell in as Mayor and watch things turn around. Trenton, Camden, Chicago all have that "different type of government." Oh by the way the USA has that "different type of government as well." Look at the sad state of affairs we are in at this point in time.
Barbara gray commenting on my late husbands phone I was a professional entertainer and my husband was from Trenton so I worked a few places there singing and playing the piano I worked at one time at Carmen Armenti's restaurant In down town Trenton, Pete Tonti,'a place at the old Regency hotel and at the Tremont on State street across from city hall I was known as Barbara Anderson then my last job was at the revere on River Rd.i retired and moved to Florida in 1994. But my husband grew up in Trenton and he used to talk about downtown Trenton a lot.
My dad used to work for National Sponge Cushion Co. - it was a carpet padding manufacturer - I was looking to see if it was in any pictures. Does anyone remember it? I used to go with him to work sometimes. I wish I knew exact address and what happened to it.
I was there today on a beautiful sunny Monday afternoon. What a shithole. I saw multiple people nodding out on heroin and a bunch of bums walking around aimlessly.
I remember shopping at Yards with my mom in the 60s. And the movie theaters were so beautiful!
Downtown was a place I enjoyed shopping with my Mom and Dad when I was young. Those days have long been gone.
Wow! What happened? People always tell me that Trenton used to be a nice city, but I never could believe that until seeing this video.

Me and my parents used to go to the Sears located in Downtown Trenton. I believe it was there for a short while when I was young.
I do believe the Montgomery Ward was one store that was still there for a short while when I was young. I missed all these stores when they were gone.
