FIFA 04-09 was a golden age imo. 2011-14 was another golden age. Great gameplay, game modes and soundtracks. 04, 07, 09 and 13 have some of the greatest fifa tunes of all time
add 15 to the golden age, last game i remember loving in the series. I also think it had the best soundtrack by far, some of my favorite artists were discovered in the soundtrack menu of fifa 15 for the wii.
Dude, Worlf Cup 98 deserved way more praise than it got here. You could play full 45 minute games, and you could play vintage world cup finals - it even had multiple graphical styles, with black/white for Uruguay-Argentina 1930, this lovely sepia sort of black and white for Hungary-Germany '54, and a warm technicolour for Italy-Brazil 1970. We should expect every yearly release to have special extras like that.
Absolutely! The stadiums alone were amazing! Nearly all national teams in the world. I recall playing for Solomon Islands! The black/white and sepia mode was freaking cool too. For me, FIFA 98 was by far the best release.
I think the creator wasn't old enough back then to fullly appreciate the greatness of both "FIFA Road to the World Cup" and "FIFA World Cup". Those games still hold a place in my heart.
Wow, shit... I completely forgot about the black and white teams until I read your comment! Thanks for the blast from the past there. This proves the uploader is too young to be doing a video like this. One can only research so much about things he never went through personally.
I remember playing 98-2001 with my school colleagues and spending hours editing teams, make them look like us. Then we made "Champions league" with school classes. From 2003-2007 the games were just amazing for us. FIFA 06 was a hit and those retro futures, classic team and for the first time added, Legendary playstyle was awesome. We couldn`t play online most of the times, only LAN, so we focus more on the offline content. From 07 we started to play online and that version of FIFA had by far the best gameplay we saw until then. I left FIFA when they added ultimate team. In my opinion they made a swift on how the game should be played and I did not like the fact that without spending big bucks, you will not be able to have a good time. That, but also the fact that most of my favorite players all ready retired and the football changed itself. To answer your question, from time to time I still like to play FIFA with my childhood friends and that`s why I buy the newest version of the game every time. I am sad that PES sold the rights because PES 2021 was really good. I think we just like the beautifulness of the game and FIFA it is not a bad choice at simulating this. It was nice to watch this video you made and have a good time watching those old screens. Good luck with your further projects!
Dude, amazing video! I really only expected a rundown of the games, but taking this angle and actually question EA's and our own behavior around the games was such a good twist and it came out very clearly and well-thought. Bravo!
The genesis of Ultimate Team was actually in the 360 version of UEFA Champions League 2006-07. I'd also say the first time Ultimate Team came with the game disc and wasn't a paid DLC, FIFA 11, was another massive moment. It exploded the player base of FUT overnight and was the true start of the MTX hell that the series has become. Great video, I just think those two games in particular are among the most important in the series for that reason.
My first soccer game I played was fifa 2001 as a kid. But in those days, Konami was miles ahead. PES2/3 is what i started off playing the most. Especially before the Internet, i would go to my friends houses & we would play PES. Everyone around had that game & we would practice alone before playing. What made it fun is playing with my friends older brothers etc. Those days are long gone when it comes to playing video games. Pes2-Pes6, some great years.
I remember the first time I played PES it had a "two matches" option or whatever it called. It felt like you play in a cup with match and rematch, even the red cards and injures count in the next match. It was an awesome feature back then. Also loved that we can create teams with a lot of logo and kit options. We spend a whole fcking day to create 16 unic players, original teams with logos and kits. As a kid I just loved that game.
I remember FIFA 05 Manager mode having the ability to buy and sell players before 06 but the best part of that was you had to manage the overall budget of the club so you could spend 50mil on Messi or on increasing the seating capacity of your stadium or training facilities. Would love to see that kind of balance come back in (More than just Scouts and players)
Larger stadium - more revenue for more purchases. I remember those times. Also in Fifa 07 the goal was to get to a billion dollar budget 😂. I was playing chelsea since it had the largest transfer budget
John motson commentary brings back so much memories and playing as prime united and possibly prime Liverpool. And playing as Ronaldinho and other legends. Very nostalgic
Weird, I always thought Fifa 98 (RTWC) was EVERYONES FIRST FIFA 😄 Especially since Blurs Song 2 was so iconic the re-released it on FIFA 23. Also FIFA 2001 was probably THE most influential one for me and my friends (Birth years 89/90)
I remember one of the first FIFA's back on the mega drive, casually hacking down the goalkeeper with my strikers when I was 3-0 down as a 6/7 year old. After that I only played sporadically but the 2000 intro is one of the best intro's from my childhood/teenage years (along with BF1942) and has a special place in my heart.
You forgot the UEFA Euro and Champions League games. Also UCL 06/07 was the actual first appearance of Ultimate Team. Otherwise interesting recap of the FIFA series.
Something I enjoyed a lot in ultimate team were to beat a fully decked team, with just scraps of bronze-silver players, just by playing realistic non-arcadie football. That was a blast, and the cherry on top were all the salt delivered to my PS inbox.
How did you miss out the ICONIC use of blur - Song 2? The first commercially licensed song used in a FIFA franchise game? That was massive. FIFA(RTWC)98' was 98'
Absolutely Loved this video man!!!! I played fifa from 03 to 07 then 13-16 then 19-23 😆! My fav ones so far (not in order) Fifa World Cup 2014 Fifa 13 Fifa 19 Fifa 23 So nostalgic seeing those main screens. Probably enjoyed 03 to 07 more just for nostalgic reasons, some great times
when they got rid of lounge mode it killed multiplayer with friends for me ,loving having a league table had like 5 friends who were really good it was so competitive
I'm glad I stayed a casual player throughout the years and not someone who bought the same game each year and spent way too much money on virtual cards that you never actually get to keep.
Great video with a great message. My love for more football content has made it hard to not buy fifa this year, but im staying strong untill it goes on sale later. I think ea is a root for teaching its young football loving audience bad fundimentals around money and the concept of money just becomes inflated to unreal levels, among other terrible ideals they incorporate. i am a victim of this
great video. my fav period was from 98-07. Problem for me wasn't even the micro transactions, it was just deciding to not improve any aspect of the game. FIfa in 2010 and fifa now is the same COD-esque formula since. Can't blame them really but still...
Impossible challenge: Take a shot every time this guy says "some things just never change," "some things really do come full circle" or "some times you just cant please everybody" You'll be dead by the end of the video lmao
Great video. I'm forty-seven now and was a loyal FIFA mug from 1994 - 2012. Actually contributed to a divorce because I ignored my ex to play it so much 😬. The move towards ultimate teams & micro purchases completely turned me off the series and I also just don't think that later generations are as fun to play as RTTWC or FIFA '99. I prefer just to play sensi occasionally these days, although being happily married now, not too much!
Just to prove, how good EA was at adding and removing features: Fifa 07 was not the first game to have popular songs. Fifa RTWC98 had Song 2 by Blur.. Wooo-Hooo!
My first football video game was International Super Star Soccer Deluxe for the sega mega drive, we had a copy of a fifa game for the mega drive but we never played it because super star soccer was so much better, I'm pretty sure that game was the precursor to PES. Coincidentally it featured a scenario game mode where you would try to win games from perilous positions, suspicious that something similar would show up later on in a fifa game
Robbie williams - its only us….that tune was the fun times in summer in front of ps1. Now all I play is a shadow of a game with no love to pvp modes (looking at you seasons). These days its just my team vs a kid playing with PSG.
You should do one of these for Winning Eleven/Pro Evolution Soccer/Efootball, it was the best football game for a while, and has a great rise and fall to document
fifa rtwc 98 deserved more praise for me still one of the greatest fifas of all time my story with fifa games was i played the original on pc then i got fifa 98 for sega saturn and pc, then the last fifa i played for a while was fifa 2001 on ps1 (the cd smelled like grass) then i only played ISS and PES games until i got back to fifa with fifa 12 on ps3

It's so nice to see FIFA finally d!ed. Been waiting for so long to see it go down, losing the rights, losing the community support...end of an era. I'm excited for UFL.
FIFA games b4 the PS3/XBOX360 gen were so bad. All my OGs back in the day (2002-2007) sticked with PES. Pretty safe to say that these old PES games still hold up, while the old fifas are borderline unplayable these days. Funny to see that PES 5 and 6 have a super cool and active community these days. Nice vid bro, but I guess you forgot to comment on the handicap feature introduced back in 2006.
I play FIFA for my main football game since on Mega Drive. Get shocked when play WE4. Graphics is so rough, but each players has different body shape and height. Gameplay and strategy variety far away above FIFA at that times
Play FIFA since Internasional Soccer (94) as my main football game. But it changes in 99 when I knew Winning Eleven 4. FIFA 99 has beautiful graphics and sound at that time, but gameplay far behind WE 4. I came back to play FIFA at 07, after see they copy some gameplay mechanic from WE/PES. Since then FIFA gameplay make improvement. What I like most is FIFA sliders, I can custom gameplay to what I like (I never enjoy FIFA default gameplay). Meanwhile WE/PES do improvement on graphics. What a nice era of football games competition. I love both games. Now EA monopolize football games due their licensing streght. They can do whatever they want. With no competition, I'm affraid football games will stagnant in future.
Around 2017 i started disliking FIFA when it became obvious they started replacing your own controller input and football intelligence with AI movement and stats oriented gameplay. The common "* you press left, but the defender goes right because the AI feels you fell for that skillmove *" kinda stuff. Or the defender positions perfectly to intercept, the attacker even aims straight at him when he makes the pass, but because he has 99 passing, the ball avoids the defender, going more then 45° wider then to where was aimed.
It's not cashing in if there's a customer base willing to pay for it. Their creation of games causes the employment of hundreds of animators, programmers etc. You can't blame a business for giving their customers what they clearly are willing buy. The customer is directly responsible for the actions of the business in this case so blame them.
For those who loved playing real football and having a game closer to the reality - PES has evwr been favorite! Been always with better gameplay and movements. ❤
rip paul micheal, gone but never forgotten

from 90 to 2010 PES was far better, now is trash but FIFA got better than PES, now both games are a pice of sh..
@sos.gamers these kids will never know how far Konami was ahead in the early 00s. Even without licensing, Konami made way better soccer games
Dude, Worlf Cup 98 deserved way more praise than it got here. Don't lie buddy, you play ultimate team every year
Fifa 2002 WC edition was such a weird, but amazing experience. One of the very few times it felt like EA actually tried to make art.
Absolutely loved PES in the PS2 and 3 era.
Dude, amazing video! I really only expected a rundown of the games, but taking this angle and actually question EA's and our own behavior around the games was such a good twist and it came out very clearly and well-thought. Bravo!

lesson learned from this video: some things never change
That's the lesson!
@habibputraflag you know that he’s a FIFA creator right?
came to the comments expecting this comment! I guess some things never change

Literally do not understand how this man will not be the greatest fifa/fc UA-camr of the next generation at the very minimum
I remember FIFA 05 Manager mode having the ability to buy and sell players before 06 but the best part of that was you had to manage the overall budget of the club so you could spend 50mil on Messi or on increasing the seating capacity of your stadium or training facilities. Fifa 2000 introduced historical teams which was really fun. The screen even went black and white or sepia.
It's kinda crazy that the graphics from the latest fm games literally look like the 90's fifa games
As crazy as every referee in EA football games since FIFA 96 is like a ghost, player can walk through his body.
John motson commentary brings back so much memories and playing as prime united and possibly prime Liverpool. And playing as Ronaldinho and other legends. Very nostalgic
Something just never changes
i still hold a soft spot for FIFA eventho i haven't played it in a few years. first fifa was WC 98 and played most from that to fifa 18. good old days
FIFA:
Always made us rage, but will be missed.

I remember one of the first FIFA's back on the mega drive, casually hacking down the goalkeeper with my strikers when I was 3-0 down as a 6/7 year old.

Guys, I think what he's trying to say is that some things never change
Nah mate what would make you think that?
He watched the dancing piglets with panda bear tummies in the swimming pool.
I absolutely loved fifa 97. I played indoor football mode all the time.
Something I enjoyed a lot in ultimate team were to beat a fully decked team, with just scraps of bronze-silver players, just by playing realistic non-arcadie football. That was a blast, and the cherry on top were all the salt delivered to my PS inbox.
Can we talk about the greatness of FIFA07 menus
Roberto Baggio being called Lon Barron in PES is still my favourite to this day. Even now I always call Baggio Lon Barron and never his real name.
How did you miss out the ICONIC use of blur - Song 2? The first commercially licensed song used in a FIFA franchise game? That was massive.
FIFA(RTWC)98' was 98'
The amount of effort put into making something like this is amazing
2:45 I am not joking when I say that the ball physics when passing in Fifa 97, are more believeable than what you'll find in the newest Fifa now.
Ea FC manual passing is pretty realistic physics wise
Absolutely Loved this video man!!!!
I played fifa from 03 to 07 then 13-16 then 19-23 😆!
My fav ones so far (not in order)
Fifa World Cup 2014
Fifa 13
Fifa 19
Fifa 23
So nostalgic seeing those main screens. Probably enjoyed 03 to 07 more just for nostalgic reasons, some great times
They better add a Paul micheal 99 rated in fc 25
when they got rid of lounge mode it killed multiplayer with friends for me ,loving having a league table had like 5 friends who were really good it was so competitive
I'm glad I stayed a casual player throughout the years and not someone who bought the same game each year and spent way too much money on virtual cards that you never actually get to keep.
I was 7 yo playing FIFA 2000...still cant stop the rock to this day 23 years later 😢
This is one of the best videos I've watched on this app good one bro ❤️
Let's see what UFL brings to the table when they eventually launch. I hope it's a revolution.
My brother being a diehard fifa man literally cannot be convinced it’s just the same game with slightly different players
11v11 matchmaking in fifa 11 was ahead of its time
i think fifa 98 was the most respected game and everyone i know played this game as a child
This is gonna be a banger
Great video with a great message. My love for more football content has made it hard to not buy fifa this year, but im staying strong untill it goes on sale later. I think ea is a root for teaching its young football loving audience bad fundimentals around money and the concept of money just becomes inflated to unreal levels, among other terrible ideals they incorporate. i am a victim of this
Couldn’t have said it better myself
How dare a company try to make money of it's unintelligent fanbase
great video. my fav period was from 98-07. Problem for me wasn't even the micro transactions, it was just deciding to not improve any aspect of the game. FIfa in 2010 and fifa now is the same COD-esque formula since. Can't blame them really but still...
I remember when you were still at 800 subscribers. Continue your hard work!
You're the man!
"Some things never change" - Ramman, 2023
My first fifa was 07 and Street 2
I had more time played on those than all FIFA’s since
I feel old then, because I started with 98
w video. you should make more like this🐐
Man like Brian Plank if you know you know
takes me back..have been playing fifa since fifa94
6:44 that kick was fire 🔥
6:43 am I the only one that was stunned when he bicycle kicked it
FIFA world cup 2010 was PEAK

I did say that
How many times did he say 'I guess some things never change' lol 😂😂😂
My first Fifa was Fifa 05 and Fifa Street. Both at XBOX Classic, that was a good time 😄
Fifa 07 is definitely not the first Fifa to have popular songs on the soundtrack and in the menus.
Started as far back as 03, Miss Dynamite.
“somethings just never change”
If I remember correctly with Fifa 2005, you could combine it with Total Club Manager 05 and play your matches from TCM05 in FIFA 2005
Bros underrated
You should do one of these for Winning Eleven/Pro Evolution Soccer/Efootball, it was the best football game for a while, and has a great rise and fall to document
fifa rtwc 98 deserved more praise for me still one of the greatest fifas of all time
my story with fifa games was i played the original on pc then i got fifa 98 for sega saturn and pc, then the last fifa i played for a while was fifa 2001 on ps1 (the cd smelled like grass) then i only played ISS and PES games until i got back to fifa with fifa 12 on ps3

Been playing since the first FIFA on the Megadrive. This was a nice trip down memory lane, great video 👏🏾
Glad you enjoyed!
Paul “Toe Muncher” Scholes. A goat.
"The Entire History of FIFA" *video stops at 2010*
Nice vid bro some of the stuff u said was interesting and I never knew aha
Such a beautiful and detailed video
Glad you liked it!
Let’s wait as this video slowly become poplular.
great vid man
I believe the Dutch league wasn't in FF 2002, while it was in Fifa 2001 (though unlicensed)
Underrated video
Not gonna lie, I was playing FC 24 while watching this😂😂
4:05 why
Yes, the wind blows a little bit colder
And we're all getting older
And the clouds are moving on with every autumn breeze
Peter Pumpkin just became fertilizer
And my leaf's a little sadder and wiser
That's why I rely on certain certainties
Yes, some things never change
Like the feel of your hand in mine
Some things stay the same
Like how we get along just fine
Like an old stone wall that'll never fall
Some things are always true
Some things never change
Like how I'm holding on tight to you
The leaves are already falling
Sven, it feels like the future is calling
Are you telling me tonight
You're gonna get down on one knee?
Yeah bud, I'm really bad at planning these things out
Like candlelight and pulling of rings out
Maybe you should leave all the romantic stuff to me
Yeah, some things never change
Like the love that I feel for her
Some things stay the same
Like how reindeers are easier
But if I commit and I go for it
I'll know what to say and do
Right?!
Some things never change
Sven, the pressure is all on you
The winds are restless
Could that be why I'm hearing this call?
Is something coming?
I'm not sure I want things to change at all
These days are precious
Can't let them slip away
I can't freeze this moment
But I can still go out and seize this day
Ah ah ah ah ah ah
The wind blows a little bit colder
And you all look a little bit older
It's time to count our blessings
Beneath an autumn sky
We'll always live in the kingdom of plenty
That stands for the good of the many
And I promise you the flag of Arendelle will always fly
Our flag will always fly
Our flag will always fly
Our flag will always fly
Some things never change
Turn around and the time has flown
Some things stay the same
Though the future remains unknown
May our good luck last
May our past be past
Time's moving fast, it's true
Some things never change
And I'm holding on tight to you
Holding on tight to you
Holding on tight to you
Holding on tight to you
I'm holding on tight to you
Well Ufl is releasing tis year which is going to be free so it going to be interesting to see how well it does
World Cup 98: after the Yugoslav breakup
Also World Cup 98: Yugoslavia vs Iran
heads up that the Beckham free kick against Greece was for the 2002 World Cup qualifiers

Fifa 07 has the best menu till date
With no competition, I'm affraid football games will stagnant in future.
imagine asking 1billion for using the name fifa
Around 2017 i started disliking FIFA when it became obvious they started replacing your own controller input and football intelligence with AI movement and stats oriented gameplay. The common "* you press left, but the defender goes right because the AI feels you fell for that skillmove *" kinda stuff. Or the defender positions perfectly to intercept, the attacker even aims straight at him when he makes the pass, but because he has 99 passing, the ball avoids the defender, going more then 45° wider then to where was aimed.
I played until 20 now I'll never play again. A new title that is
Great video
It's not cashing in if there's a customer base willing to pay for it. Their creation of games causes the employment of hundreds of animators, programmers etc.
You can't blame a business for giving their customers what they clearly are willing buy. The customer is directly responsible for the actions of the business in this case so blame them.
For those who loved playing real football and having a game closer to the reality - PES has evwr been favorite! Been always with better gameplay and movements. ❤
You forgot the UCL games though, they had better graphics on average than the main FIFA games
