If you'd prefer not to hold down the nosewheel steering button for the entire duration of the bomb's flight, you can enable a setting called 'latch on/off', which allows you to toggle your laser on and off. You can find this setting in the 'CNTL' section of the A-G page in the TGP.
Just to clear things up; the LS Time sets how far from the ground the bomb gets before the laser activates automatically. In this case, once it gets to be 15 seconds from the ground, the laser fires and the bomb begins to guide. Setting it to 0 makes the laser fire as soon as the bomb drops, which is good for very low altitude drops.
just as a sidenote, your lase time is depending on your altitude and release mode. generally speaking, you dont want to lase the entire time the bomb is falling, as it bleeds a lot of speed and might end up short, while lasing too late will make it overshoot. furthermore, there are two types of release modes, OPtimal release and BAL (can be seen in the wpns profile page). the first is intentionally overshooting the target so it has room to maneuver when the laser kicks in while BAL is trying to hit the target even without laser - as far as I know, OP is the standard mode.
Thank you sir! The easiest way to do it is as follows: Go to your DSMS page and select Prof (OSB 1) then use OSB 19/20 to arrow up and down to get to your GBU 10/12 Select View Profile (OSB 3) change the mode to CCRP with OSB10 Select CHG SET (OSB 16). Here you can set Autolase to On or Off with OSB 6 (remember: If it's off you'll have to hold the nose wheel steering button in until the bomb hits the target). It's also a good idea to set your LS TIME (seconds) using OSB 16, enter the time on the UFC and OSB 16 again to save(this depends on your release altitude 15 to 20 seconds is a good rule of thumb). You may also adjust other parameters such as release altitude from here. When done select Save (OSB 3) then Stat (OSB 1) to return to the DSMS main page. Hope this helps.
@laobi You mention using the nose wheel steering to do something associated with all of this setting up (I have heard it used with ordinary bombs to do things as well) yet I cant find anything anywhere yet that relates to the Nose wheel Steering button other than Nose wheel steering when on the ground. I am really confused over the various applications of this particular button, can you help me please. I have learnt how to use the Gau8 and how to set up A65Maverics (along with the various types applications) but this is a brick wall for me, and I havnt yet found it in the many instruction manuals.
Thank you sir! Yes, in the main part of that tutorial I covered switching the Auto-Lase on, with the auto lase on all you have to do is ensure you set enough of a lase time so that the bomb is guided to the target, this depends on altitude (10k shoes 15 secs, higher = more time). In some situations you may want to manually lase the target (eg. some other bastard blows up your target as you drop, so you want to quickly change to another very close target, or you're lasing for a buddy), so here goes: 1: Do everything up to the point where you set Autolase to on - make sure it stays off 2: Locate your target and lock it up, slave all sensors etc., 3: Fly the line to target and release your bomb/launch Mav 4: Lase the target by pressing in and holding the nose wheel steering button which doubles as the lase button (if you have a TM Warthog this is the little pinky button on the front of your stick behind the paddle switch) 5: Hold the button in to continue lasing until the bomb reaches the target, you will see an L appear on the TGP display (if you release the button it will stop lasing...I think) Hope this helps.
@@Laobi Hey thanks for coming back to me on this. Yes that makes more sense. So this is purely and simply a lase trigger. Its along haul learning all these systems on the A10C but I am getting there one by one, particularly with your videos. Very detailed without any bullshit, the beauty of your "1 Minute" approach is that sometimes in the longer explanations from some of the other presentations, where you listen to a 20 minute or 30 minute equally detailed account, after 10 minutes they have only covered a half of the stuff and I want to get into trying it out. By 20 minutes I am forgetting what was said in the first 10 minutes, and at 30 minutes I have to go through the viid again. I watch one of your "1 minute" videos two maybe three times almost learning actions parrot fasion then straight into flying and trying. Getting through one or two of these when I get time for an evenings flying is good project time, and if I have forgotten something from previous .... hell it only takes a minute to look at the relevent vid as a reminder. Keep these coming, they are great.
Thank you sir! I'm glad I'm not the only one who loses the forest for the trees in the longer tutorials, I love watching them, but the amount of clicking back I have to do for the information just kills me. Generally I spend a lot of time in the Natops trying to grasp things as it's just lists of things that need to be done (buried in more lists). I found myself watching some videos 10 or 15 times (I'm probably responsible for some of the longer form videos watch count), as time is always something I'm short of I started making these to remind myself, then I realised I couldn't stand hearing myself and decided to punish everyone else with them and write checklists for myself
i just need a very lamens terms guide to the bombs for this plane (and any plane) i have terrible retention if i do not know for what reason i am doing the things i am doing, and i have a general understanding of the plane and how to operate it and everything but when it comes to the bombs and utilizing them i just turn into an idiot every single time

Crash Laobi no problem!
Oh, and go fuck yourself.
Then why not setting it at 0 every time?
im not sure if this is correct. someone told me when setting it to 0 the laser is off. ?
