we were expecting to see frozen horseshoe falls, but seeing water is flowing, Now the question is do the falls actually freeze ?
Even if it looks but actually not. During particularly cold temperatures, the mist and spray begin to form a crust of ice over top of the rushing water of Niagara falls, making it appear as though the Falls have in fact stopped. However, the water continues to flow underneath the sheets of ice.
Winter and summer water flow in Niagara Falls-
During the wintertime, 75% of the water flowing from Lake Erie along the Niagara River is diverted approximately one kilometer before the Falls through tunnels and canals for hydro-electric purposes and is returned back into the lower Niagara River. As a result, the “winter flow” or the volume of water that rushes over Niagara Falls throughout the winter months, is approximately 85 million liters every minute. In contrast, from April 1 through to October 31, approximately 50% of the water is diverted, resulting in the summer flow, which is generally measured at 170 million liters of water every minute.

Visiting frozen Niagara falls during winter 2021 and capturing the video in 4K can be considered a best achievement for travel bloggers on UA-cam. As I create travel videos on UA-cam so visiting Niagara falls and covering frozen Niagara falls was in my list. Niagara falls is one of the best place to visit near Toronto as a day trip. Canadian Niagara falls freeze very rarely compared to USA falls or known as Niagara falls USA side the reason is amount of water flow difference.
