That would be a brighter, more biting sound to easier cut through the ensemble. The first trumpet is a LOTUS Lead/Solo 140 model with a 4th valve, and the second horn is a LOTUS Principal C model, which has the same bell materials as our Lead model, but mounted on a C trumpet.
Looks like just a custom leadpipe. Probably so he can use it with a strap like a sax to reduce fatigue and make it more ergonomic for those moving parts. Smart move.
@@AliasgarVirdiwala You can hear the difference from Bb and C trumpet but not trumpet or cornet? :O Yea the first one was a Bb trumpet and the second was a C trumpet
Great piece and great playing. Despite the presence of a virtuoso tubist, adding a string bass or an electric bass would give warmth and depth to the bottom register, especially during the trumpet solo accompanied by only keyboard and percussion. Also, I play horn, and the horn sound would be more present with a plexiglass or wood reflecting shield placed behind the horn section. Stan Kenton's horn section used horns with bells facing forward, similar to marching band french horns. A few of those marching horns, made by Kanstul and others, are now for sale on ebay, and I am thinking of getting one for myself to try.
What a cool piece!! Love the arrangement. Adam Rapa killed it too, as per usual.

👍💓👍💓👍💓👍. From Minsk, Belarus.
Great performance! I wish to know what was he looking for in switching to another trumpet in mid performance?????🤔🎺
Either a specific sound, an instrument better built for the part, or both
I think he switched to an Eb trumpet
