    You have a really nice tank, everyone who says it’s over stocked don’t listen to them, that’ll die some of the aggression down, your fish are all healthy, tanks clean, and plenty fish to divert aggression w out becoming too territorial!

    Man that is a peaceful tank. Love the driftwood stump. Did you just find it in a local pond/lake?

    What kind of Jack Dempsey is that? Why does it look like that?

    • @KayakKingdom
      @KayakKingdom  5 років тому

      Like what? It's still pretty juvenile. It only has some of the shiny scales

    • @wolfmania10
      @wolfmania10 5 років тому +1

      Fishy Fingers I’ve kept multiple individuals in my life.. that is definitely no juvenile!!!!! That is for sure an adult Jack Dempsey. But it’s coloring is strange to me.. even juveniles are born with their shiny scales going down their bodies. And are almost fully black in color. And when they become adults they keep that blackish background and the shiny green scales start to take over and cover the upper portion and head of the fish. But yours almost seems to be a hybrid with another cichlid just because it completely lacks any Jack Dempsey coloring at all. It’s definitely a Jack Dempsey but I can’t explain the strange coloring. It’s like someone took paintbrush and painted blotches over the fish. Just curious that’s all. Still definitely looks like a healthy adult fish otherwise it doesn’t strike me as sick at all hope you don’t think I’m saying that. It’s just an oddball specimen to the species

      @@wolfmania10 agree and disagree. All the pictures I've seen, (except electric blues). Their background is light gray and black (almost striped) with the shiny scales starting to take over the older they get.
      Hes definitely not a full adult, yet not a juvenile.

      Fishy Fingers yes correct and your fish is neither black or dark grey. He’s like a yellowy orange pinkish??? And only has shiny scales on his head theres none showing on his body.. the shiny scales take over as adults but they very much still have them as juveniles.. and your fish is not full grown but is definitely an adult fish(past breeding age).. I can’t explain it’s coloring. There are pink and gold varieties of Jack Dempsey’s but they don’t resemble yours whatsoever. So that’s not it. So I don’t why your fish lacks the Jack Dempsey coloring and shiny scales I have no other ideas. Maybe you could change what you feed him? Food quality (ingredients) and type of food can drastically change coloring and maybe he could start to recover his true colors.. or maybe he’s just got unlucky genetics and somehow slipped past the culling process of the breeder

      Fishy Fingers light grey adult Jack Dempsey is just stressed. When they are content they revert back to their dark colors btw many cichlids exhibit this especially geophagus

    Tank is great, all good fish in there but the Birchir and Pleco will get huuuge and outgrow your tank. Not a fish tank police here, it's just facts.
