  • Watch this wild high stakes poker hand that took place during a Hustler Casino Live stream between Dan 'Jungleman' Cates & entrepreneur Santhosh Suvarna.
    The action starts with Ethan 'Rampage Poker' Yau raising from the button with J8o. Jungleman senses weakness and decides to 3-bet to $8,500 from the big blind. Santhosh looks down at the beautiful KQs and has a decision as to whether to just call or 4-bet. Jonathan believes a 4-bet is the better play here. If you call you will often let the button stick around as well which is not ideal as you will be now playing out of position.
    The flop gives Jungleman an open ended straight draw with a backdoor flush draw and it gives Santhosh a gutshot. Any jack would spell disaster for Jungleman as they would both make a straight. Jonathan loves Jungleman using 8c7s as a hand to check raise on this board. He only has eight high but still has lots of equity to beat most of Santhosh's range so the check-raise with this particular poker hand makes a lot of sense. It's a rough spot for Santhosh when facing the check-raise but he has a few clean outs to the nuts and also has overcards to the board that could be good. Jungleman is a very capable player and would also be semi-bluffing with hands such as the one he has which makes this call from Santhosh even better.
    The turn doesn't add any extra equity to Jungleman's hand as he does not hit a club. He does however continue to bet for around half pot, Santhosh who is still the non-believer makes the call. Jonathan thinks it's a reasonable size to bet given his stack size as it would set up for a good size to shove on the river. Having said that, if he wanted to really get the marginal 1 pair hands to fold he may want to opt for a slightly larger bet size. Santhosh actually has one of the best hands to hero call with as it is unlikely that Jungleman would check-raise his ace high flush draws on the flop which means Santhosh's king high is going to be beating all of Jungleman's potential bluffs.
    If you have a hand that you know is pretty much the nuts and you have a stack size that cannot really check-raise due to it being shallow - put your money into the middle yourself! Do not try and slow play. If your opponent has a marginal made hand then they may just check behind if you check.

    Has to be an all in, just a horrible hand to run into, that most players would’ve folded long ago, rough.

    I think an easy shove. Jungle has less than 3/4 pot left -- will get called by lots of hands, especially vs. a sticky player like Santoosh. No need to get fancy when the SPR is so low.

    All in every time, for value. You are so rarely beat in this spot. Most 10s and 2pair hands aren't folding either

    I think your only options are betting all-in or checking to induce a bluff. I'd lean towards checking to induce a bluff, it's unlikely your opponent has a set or even two pair. Shipping it in you might be able to get a call from like AT or KT but if he missed, he's just going to fold. Obviously in this spot, if you check and he ships it in your calling 100% of the time.

      But what about hands like AJ of clubs, KJ of clubs, QJ of clubs, J7 of clubs, 54 of clubs, any overpairs that didnt 4bet preflop plenty of hands that would likely call but could feasibly check behind.

    • @jackolini

      @@jacobgoldman5780 Those are all good points, maybe all-in is the optimal play. Still, some of those hands I'm not sure he is going to call with anyways, like weak one pair hands. So whether you check or go all in you aren't making any more money. Obviously if the guy is a calling station moving all-in is a no-brainer.
      I still think he most likely had some type of draw when it gets to the river. I know if it were me I would have shipped it in on the turn with two pair+.
      I guess you can run a solver and see what it says. I'm sure all-in is optimal but I don't agree with Jonathan that it is clear-cut. Maybe if someone shows me the EV of both of the plays I'll be convinced all-in is way better than checking.

    The way that it was played would lead me to believe the opponent is on a flush draw or has a decent flopped top pair hand with maybe a rivered two pair at best. I could easily see the opponent showing up with JT or J9 the way it was played. Because of that, I would check, hoping to induce a bet, which I would then raise. I would never expect him to show up with Q8 or even KQ here. So, I would check raise and get stacked. 😢

    Typically ripping it. Especially if I’m playing agressive. I don’t mind a check vs some players, Santhosh not being one
    I could also bet 50k if I could imagine myself ever folding to a jam. Kq/ especially kq with a flush draw is a thing. Those two draws are the only draws that call. Tough one to ever fold, but also that J should be a bit of a scare card.

    All-in. As well as the reasons you gave, nothing else seems remotely balanced. If I'm bluffing the river, I will need to go all-in to get anything to fold.

    Yeah I would have gone all in on the river. Unless, I knew this opponent to be super tight. the way it was played and the normal loose style at the table, Santosh could have had anything from a Set on down.
    Jungle man maybe should have played tighter or folded to a bet on the turn. Betting 50% pot when you're hunting for one of 3 outs in the deck is putting you way behind.

    Yeah im losing all my money in that spot. The fact he kept hanging on after chunky bets with king high. I would not expect him to have king queen. And with what was out there, no full house, no flush, your only loosing to that one specific hand, which didn't make much sense him having anyways. So I would have considered it affective Nuts and lost everything lol

    I would have rather seen Jungleman bet about 70 on the turn, about 2/3 pot
    But the river is straight forward. You just gotta rip it in here. What hands would the opponent have that would have bet/called flop and called turn that can call a river bet of any size. Maybe QJ or KJ of clubs that makes top pair?
    And with the flush draw bricking out, it can look like Jungleman is trying to bluff with a missed flush draw and get a crying call out of a 10 with applying maximum pressure. It’s just he happens to be up against one of the 16 combos that have him beat.

    • @jacobgoldman5780
      @jacobgoldman5780 10 місяців тому

      How do you get only 16 combos technically? Q8 there are 12 combos of and 16 of KQ though if we are being realistic only 3 combos of Q8 suited and 4 of KQ suited would be 7 total.

      @bigj200016 10 місяців тому

      @@jacobgoldman5780 Q8 suited might be possible but unlikely the way the hand proceeded. Sure he could have exactly Q8c but that’s about the only one. Looking at the 16 combos of KQ both suited and offsuit to be cooler hands
