That part of the book was so descriptive that it felt like an escape when it was over.

100% agree! And I really felt that GDR didn’t want to exhaust the reader too much. You could tell it was much worse than in the book. Amazing book.

Shantaram is my favourite book. I felt Every emotion humanly possible reading it. There were times when tears were flowing so hard that i was continually wiping them away just so i could keep reading. 2 nights ago i visited Leopold for the second time and Eric, the general manager told me I was sitting at the very table you sat at when you were there. And,in hindsight i can see why. You had a perfect view of both entrances! It was surreal to be there.

Greg is probably not reading this but I'd like to wish him a very happy birthday. I have great admiration and devotion for your work. My roots are from Afghanistan but I have lived my life in Pakistan and everywhere around. Your writing has shaped me who I am today. I would love if you'd answer my question about love. "Do you think it's fair (to oneself and everyone around) to love your beloved with everything you have: time, money, job, relationships, life? And is it natural i.e., does it go along with the ways of the universe?" Thank you so much!

Namaste❤ GDR, I think that I found my holy script and spirit" with you and your book obviously not only me, but half of the world at least. It is so amazing and mesmerising as an experience. The funny thing is that I think I read a lot, but I discovered you by chance about 2 weeks ago❤😊. Never had an idea about it. The Bulgarian translation is so beautiful, it has had received a national award, and for a good reason. I... see now, what I see with different eyes, and what I have known instinctively altogether so far, India or not everywhere and everything , though India is my wonderland. I am assuming that being grateful and blessed to hear the "audio book" all that is even an understatement. 🎉 The audio we hear is also top of the tops, thanks to a talented voiceover artist. I also do appreciate it (an understatement again) from the point of view of linguistics being involved in such things. I have no questions so far, but thanks God you exist and thanks chance that I found you in 2023. Be blessed:)

I have tried googling and I have no idea what it means

Love the books, videos and I truly admire you as a writer. My question (that I've had with me since first reading Shantaram in 2017) is: how did you come up with Karla's surname 'Saaranen'? I was born and raised in Finland and the ring of the name instantly struck me as a Finnish one, it's very common for surnames in Finland to end with '-nen', combined with the double vowel 'aa' and overall, I've always thought of Karla's surname as a Finnish one, even if she's Swiss originally. Would love to hear if you could elaborate on that, sending you so much love and warm regards 🙏🏼🤍
