"George R R Martin's *little* *known* Game of Thrones"
Say one thing for Abercrombie, say he's a riot.
I wish I could like this comment a thousand times
Nicholas Hildenbrand That makes two of us.
You have to be realistic about it
Say one thing for Joe Abercrombie, say he hits the gym.
😆 well done.
Nice one!
I don't wanna say he's underrated, because everyone who knows about his stuff loves it, but he is deeply underappreciated
Nice swans pfp
The greatest fantasy author of all time
1 star
Book shelf and ladder envy. I wasn't aware ladder envy could be a thing but yes. Yes it can.
Nice biceps bro
Our boy works out!
That’s all I could look at 😂
Abercrombie is the chad version of Brandon Sanderson
@@hristol7537 😂
He is dogman in the flesh
You can never have too many books. That’s what I’ve always said.
The perfect comment 😂😂😂 also, you can't have too many knives
The truth
We need more Joe Abercrombie videos! My favourite author ever.
@@reddyfeld9621 Haha Yes, I'm active within the fantasy booktube community I have a lot of friends in that circle. :)
Having a library in my house is one of my dreams/life goals too!
couldn't live without but gets real impractical really fast. I have absolutely no wall space left for shelfs and moving is a complete and utter nightmare with several dozen heavy book cases.
@@ithemba worth it
But the cartels got to you first.
@@evieni1465 you need shelves and books.
Joe seems like a great dude. He's the one who inspired me to write. (I'm terrible at it, though i love doing it.) He showed me that regular guys can write books.(assuming he is a regular guy, certainly seems it)
Sod whether or not you're 'good' at writing, the fact that you enjoy it is what matters most.
He's a regular dude
Legend!
“Proof is boring. Proof is tiresome. Proof is an irrelevance. People would far rather be handed an easy lie than search for a difficult truth, especially if it suits their own purposes.” -Joe Abercrombie
A good summary of American politics today.
This explains religion
@@ericgraham3088 when I was reading about king Guslav in the first law, all I could think about was Joe Biden
@@joemade7071haha, spot on 🤤
"id be a little bit scared if someone had a bigger collection of Joe Abercrombie books than this"
Litterally LOL this is my kind of humour.😂😂😂
His books are equally hilarious
writers shouldn't be this talented and hot
If you think he's attractive wait till you see Pierce Brown 😮
The cruel duality of testosterone: huge biceps, visible bald spot
“A room without books is like a body without a soul.”
- Marcus Tullius Cicero
Nobody told me Joe was YOLKED
Lol he ain't a fatty like most other dweebs
(sanderson)
😂
As much as I love the trilogy and Gorka and the delicious Best Served Cold, Red Country is Abercrombie’s best book. It plays very cleverly and sardonically with the American Western revenge genre and combines English swordplay legends with American wild frontier tropes in a unique and brilliant way. The Japanese have tried to mix Samurai mythology with the idea of Old West lawlessness and land grabbing, but far less successfully. This would make a super movie.
I could not be happier about Joe's connection to A Game of Thrones. Also, after seeing this video we obviously need an officially judged arm-wrestling contest between Joe and Jim Butcher to settle who the strongest current fantasy author is. Edit: I forgot about Myke Cole, so, now it's a tournament.
I had the same dream growing up to have my own library with the sliding ladders. Soooo jealous!!!
Abercrombie is literally hilarious in every video I’ve ever seen him in
This guy wanna look like the badass characters he writes.
Who wouldn't?
Not sure its possible to do so whilst wearing a polo shirt
Get a grip
Does not he look?
He's really selling these books I want to read lonesome dove now
That's the one big downside of my e reader is that I will never have a epic bookshelf in my living room
But think of all the trees you're saving!
I won't even lie to myself, I clicked this for Joe's Gun Show! 😂 💪🏻
My man buff from lifting that Game of Thrones copy!
Say one thing about Joe Abercrombie, say he has a massive bookcase with a slidey ladder.
Wow what impressive shelves and yes that ladder is fantastic!! I love eye spying the shelves of authors!
You have my name!
My bookshelf is rip now since I switched to kindle. LOL I have 60 books on that
Curran Gill I don't believe you would video your lovely epic shelves and then put them to their eternal rest for a a a a kiiiindle lolol
@@Phillybookfairy I didn't have epic shelves like Joe. Just a single bookshelf with books. I have about 60 books on my kindle.
I hope his series of books will get a tv show
HBO needs to get The First Law. This trilogy can be bigger than Game of Thrones.
@@deanryanmartin YES! But please NOT NETFLIX!!!
In general sense, I am voting with two hands for it, but looking at the mockery of everything remade as tv show, I truly prefer they did not!
I can't imagine anyone as the Bloody Nine. A tall order to fill
@@heelamw Karl Urban could play a good Logan. Although I think he would be an even better Black Dow. The only casting I personally would consider borderline mandatory in a First Law adaptation though would be Burn Gorman as Glokta; I can think of no one else who fits the role better
Oh that bookshelf 😍
I wish I could have a library like that in my house, but one has to be realistic about these things.
He's the best author in my opinion! His books are amazing!
I love Abercrombie books and LOVE Lonesome Dove, now all make sense.
Id like to have a bigger collection then Abercrombie himself, But you have to be realistic about these things
I really liked your take on Lonesome Dove. It’s one of my all time favorite novels.
Yeah, all goes back to Juvens and Kanedias. Not unexplored territory, but I enjoy his writing
as someone who loves Lonesome Dove, has his Red Country some similarities
?
Gotta love the Dove!
Yes
Started reading Foote's American Civil War because of this. Finished first book and not regretting
If Martin passes out before finishing ASOIAF I think Joe will be a great choice to conclude it
think he will introduce guns to the trilogy
Say one thing about Abercrombie, say he curls!
Umm he has a pretty great body. It isn't just me is it?
Orso would be jealous.
Takes care of himself, good for him.
Can't lie, for 45, he seems to take good care of himself 💪🏿
Jezal would be jealous
@@shosty575 LOL
Ohh yes indeed, reading is also one of my many many talents that god has given me.
Gorgeous shelf! Gorgeous books!…. Gorgeous author😏
Say one thing about Joe Abercrombie,
He has a lot of Books
Why did I never realise Joe is kinda yolked?
Joe, you need MAPS in your books!!! 😁
That's my dream shelf right there, Very nice
Joe has very nice personality :)
Don’t know why but he comes across as though he’s in love with the sound of his own voice.
Ain’t we all.
I was hoping he would have a copy of the doors of stone or the winds of winter I don’t think we’ll ever see them
I am pretty upset with Mr.Abercrombie for taking away a particular character in Last Argument of Kings. How could you, my lord? :(
Man crush
Look at him, he will live longer and healthier than the other writers. His universe will expand and grow in amazing ways. The improvement in his writing from The Last Wish to The Age of Madness is also remarkable.
Say one thing for Mr Abercrombie, say he's a lover.
That bookshelf is exquisite. A dream home library, would love to have it (though in lighter colours)
I know I'm not the first to say it, but I wonder if there's going to be a Jordan Sanderson situation with Martin and Abercrombie.
Because of this I listened to Lonesome Dove. I am a different man completely after that.
Damn, I always imagined Joe Abercrombie as being a tough, gnarled, grizzled old man. lol..
Give him time! I'm sure he'll get there eventually.
Why?
@@precisism1804 Most likely because of his writing style, and maybe a little to do with his name too.
"Abercrombie" sounds like the name you'd expect to fit a 90 year old farmer living out in the wilderness wearing dungarees, and working the fields with his bare hands, in sun, rain, and snow.
In every interview and everything I've seen him in, Abercrombie never fails to fan out over ASOIAF! Without fail! What a guy!
Excellent, can't wait to read the new book. 👍
You have to realistic about these things.... slide ladders
TIL Joe Abercrombie has an AP Royal Oak lol
I am doing the same thing with my paperbacks. Sometimes I feel like I need two sets of each book, one for reading and one as collection item.
Who is the better writer Joe Abercrombie or George R R Martin?
Lonesome Dove...amazing book
Love the royal oak he's wearing
Lonesome Dove is absolutely one of America’s best novels.
I think this man can write some grimdark books.
Is there a part 2? What about the rest of the books... what are they?
dude those biceps though...
A Little Hatred is a great book, the sequel is out any day now.
That's a bookshelf goal right there.
Loving A Little Hatred, he has managed to put some freshness into it to
First Law is my all time favorite trilogy. The Age of Madness is competing. Love this guy.
Great Video, very interesting to see Joe's library. I saw Scott Lynch there. Happy to see Joe is a fan too!
Mate. This is what I wanted.
In my mind: Sand dan Glokta - Christopher Waltz, Jezal dan Luthar - Cary Elwes, The Dogman - Guy Pearce, Bremer dan Gorst - Brock Lesnar, Ferro Maljinn - Summer Glau, Collem West - Jason Statham, Logen Ninefingers - Scott Glenn, Black Dow - Sam Rockwell, Bayaz - Jon Voight, Harding Grimm - Norman Reedus, Rudd Threetrees - Forest Whitaker, Thunderhead - Jason Momoa
Black Dow?
@@judewakefield7213 Black Dow - Sam Rockwell
Handsome
Nobody told me Abercrombie was JACKED!
Biceps !
This is awesome
Nice to see authors getting out there and utilizing the internet the way it was meant to be used I.e information transfer. We wont have author whose personality needs to derived from their writing. Good feeling
Am just finishing Stormlight Archive (First three books) Can’t wait to start Joe’s work.
Joe - you are a great writer.
Loved the book but still miss the king of killers RIP logan ninfingers
i have a few shelves, but this is magnificent. truly something to aspire to. my dream library would ideally have a ladder , but additionally i envisioned fine high-back leather chairs as well as warm lights that could be positioned for perfect book reading.
Fantasy authors are not supposed to be good looking. I want a refund.
A Little Hatred was amazing.
He should narrate his audio books.
While I think Joe's got a good enough voice, don't you love Stephen Lacey's narration? He breathes such perfect life into Ambercrombie's words. I love those two together.
I wanna see that PS4 collection...
Yeah he’s an avid gamer I believe based on his Twitter
Anyone else think Ray Stevenson is a great choice to play Logan ninefingers in a TV adaptation? Personally I'm hoping HBO has a go at it, they seem the only choice to do his books justice. Any other casting suggestions? Robert Carlyle as the dogman?
Can't say that's how I imagined them to look at all, but especially on Carlyle I can't really disagree.
Tbh neither actor fits those characters in my head.
Kevin Willis Hugh Jackman would have been great playing another Logan but he’s too old now.
I feel like Johnny Lee Miller should play Joe Abercrombie in any feature film or TV show.
Do I need to read first the First Law trilogy before I can enjoy the new book (trilogy)?
I would say of course,, its brilliant
The First trilogy is better
@@cihuacoatl1887 lol the second trilogy isn't even finished! The second book hasn't even been out! You can't judge it on one book!
Yes, read First Law trilogy first
I was awed in the first five seconds of the video, just by seeing the number of books he had 😍
Someone tell this guy that writers are supposed to be out of shape hermit people...
You should read Oman's, the Art of War in the 16 th Century. It reads like Fiction.
Ok, when the UK opens up again those shelves are my next tourist destination. Will there be guided tours?
I'm so excited for A Little Hatred!!!!
Nice one.. Upload a workout video too.
In my mind: Sand dan Glokta - Christopher Waltz, Jezal dan Luthar - Cary Elwes, The Dogman - Guy Pearce, Bremer dan Gorst - Brock Lesnar, Ferro Maljinn - Summer Glau, Collem West - Jason Statham, Nicomo Cosca - Benicio del Toro, Bayaz - Jon Voight, Logan Ninefingers - Scott Glenn
love your work. thank you
I’m just here to perve
No Terry Pratchett???
