@@linos1989 I think willow does a lot of surreal comedy/humor, at least that’s what I’ve seen from her talent show performance. It’s something that’s considered so bizarre and inexplicable that it’s funny. I know ru said her performance was very monty python and they’re skits are absurd.
@@benjaminroman916 What I noticed reading comments on UA-cam is that most fans loved her entrance look and it was mostly other drag queens that couldn't get over the flat shoes and so on. Idk, maybe it's just that when they invest so much money into their looks, stand for hours in stilettos, sweat under tons of undergarments then they are just infuriated that someone had the audacity to wear something that's not criminally uncomfortable.

Willow is fun to watch for me bc she isn’t just bringing glamour or anything. The entrance look really sold me on it bc even if not everyone gets it, *she* clearly gets it and she knows what she’s doing - this isn’t just a bad look thrown together bc she has no sense of style or something, it’s a really clear reference that’s being made deliberately. I like it when queens make bold decisions even if they don’t always resonate, bc to me that shows a ton of creativity.

Bless them for finally learning not to put a sewing challenge first! With a talent show, the contestants each have the opportunity to take the stage and show what they've got to offer first. Too many queens have been booted instantly without being able to connect with the show's fans simply because their sewing skills may not be up to par. That's really just a waste of their time and the extraordinary amount of money the queens put into the show. If the second challenge weeds out they-who-cannot-sew, at least we can see something more than the horrid outfit they struggled to make coming down the runway.
Queens need to learn how to sew before coming on the show. After 14 seasons, even my newborn niece knows you will have a sewing challenge on RPDR.
I think a plus of us only getting seven queens vs. fourteen is that I can actually remember their names after the first episode.
I think Willows entrance look is so fucking funny and appeals to Gen Z humor while being comfortable and maybe have the other queens underestimate her. It’s probably the smartest entrance look in a while.

Bob put it into words for me. It takes a lot of confidence to sit there with Kornbread in the room and think that you're gonna win Drag Race s14. Hell it takes confidence to bother bringing in the other half of contestants. She has the Charisma, Uniqueness, Nerve and Talent to such a high level that it feels like we're just waiting to see her win or get robbed. Her and Kerri have such good auntie chemistry. I can listen to them chat all day. Hell anyone who interacts with Korn gets such a fun moment of TV time. She's going to have to fuck up really badly, get robbed or get burnt out by a long season to lose this one. I haven't instantly loved a queen like this in a minute.

That look was something that the HS Queen would wear back in the early 2000s very Mean Girls X Sharpay Evans. Growing up as a Sharpay minion I lived when Willow walked looking like that, I just love her
Yes! I graduated high school in 2002, and SO many girls had an outfit *exactly* like that 2002-04ish. I mean, it was so on point I was really shocked. Especially the shoes - everyone had those shoes! I think people can appreciate a 50s, 60s, etc. look, but this was such a specific “girl” from my era I was really amazed she had the details so right, esp since early 2000s fashion isn’t as easily recognizable.

About some of the queens being green, I wonder how much of that is down to the pandemic and the lack of stage time. Usually, queens have some time to work out their numbers through practice. That hasn't been the case so much the past couple of years.

Orion's look was clearly inspired by psychedelics, like she was very obviously a magic mushroom and she has three breasts to look more trippy. I don't understand how everyone seems to be missing that.
Kerri Colby's entrance look reminds me of Sailor Moon's transformation mode.
Willow's talent was brilliant. It wasn't 'ridiculous' or even particularly an attempt to be funny. Injecting humour into darkness doesn't necessarily mean you should be howling with laughter. Lots of people seem to be liking it because they saw it as illogical randomness and whimsy, when i think there was much more to it than that.
It was the desperately depressed but trying to keep it together dead behind the eyes but smiling repressed housewife who is utterly done with the meaninglessness of a life confined to the kitchen. The depths of her despair are so deep that the self care shit they tell you to do is totally inadequate, and she finally kills herself. I think Willow was making a comment on how ridiculous it is to tell traumatised and mentally ill and depressed people that a nice bubble bath and a good meal will make it all better. Self care has its place for the stressed out overworked person who needs a rest. But its useless for people going through real shit.
So id suggest people watch it with the knowledge that Willow thought deeply about the message of the piece, and wasnt just being random and foolish

I always got the impression that Orion's was supposed to be like one of those Red Spotted Mushrooms? (The ones with the white stalk and red cap and white dots, similar to what you might see in Super Mario) , but I think it would have read better if she had a full white pair of bottoms/shoes under the belt, and then maybe some type of story of how the ingesting mushrooms added an extra chest appendage?

Willow's drag is some of the only drag I've seen on this show that actually relates to gen z culture. The way she dresses and her humour I feel are all things I could find on my fyp or insta feed.
