We are finally back in high alpine terrain. The snowfall from last week has stabilized and the conditions could be safe enough to ski one of the most scenic and consequential lines in our backyard.
The Hoachjoch northeast face only gets sun for about one hour during sunrise. So our plan is to climb up the north couloir and sleep in the Biwak at 3500m above the sea. To then be ready at sunrise.

Great question mate! It’s because we actually planned on skiing the couloir which we went up for sunrise, then ski another super narrow a steep couloir during the day to then go back up to the Bivvy and ski the NE face for the next sunrise. I wanted to have the 193cm ski for the face but I generally prefer my 186cm or even 180cm for couloirs. Check out our latest podcast “Alpine Worlds - Nerdy couloir talk” if you like to get a deeper insight in to this topic and our opinions. In the end we “only”skied the face as the couloir got absolutely hammered by the spindrift

@@larsmartinson9134I can feel you brotha 🙏🏼 but honestly at this time of the season I’ve done so many verts already that I don’t really run out of energy if I don’t walk to fast. For me it’s more the skiing which really matters. I don’t really mind to carry 5kg extra to the bottom of the line for a couple of hours.
