  • What is God's plan for the nations? How can we best address the problem of mass illegal migration? Naturally we want to do humanitarian work; relieving suffering is the fruit of the gospel. But can we do that without serving the geopolitical ends of the Revelation 18 end-time agents (false religion, the political leaders, and the megacorporations of the earth)?
Also, an update on Seventh-day Adventist NGO entities.
Pr Larry Kirkpatrick is the host of the Remedial Protestantism podcast, and has served congregations in pastoral ministry since 1994. He has authored books including Real Grace for Real People, and Cleanse and Close. He has been plenary speaker at symposiums and presented in many nations. He presently serves as pastor of the Fremont and Muskegon MI Seventh-day Adventist churches. Every morning he shares short Bible devotionals for those who want to start their day with God.

We are to submit to authority when appropriate, but I'm concerned that we don't take a knee-jerk reaction to being labelled as helping illegal immigration and stop doing what God may want us to do. I remember that our church before it was even organized was helping the 'illegal immigration' of the underground railroad in helping slaves escape the US into Canada. EGW even told us to not obey the laws demanding escaped slaves be turned in and we had early pioneers that went to jail as a result. So let's check to make sure we're doing what's right in God's eyes and if we are, then not worry what label society puts on it.

@@wandawiebe1581 Well said. We must do good even if it is called evil. At the same time, we don’t want to be dupes for the agendas of the kings of the earth, Babylon, or merchants of the earth (Rev 18).

@@LarrytheguyfromMichigan Compromise is compromise even if we want to convince ourselves ( for $$$ sake?) we can make good of it. God asks us not to become unevenly yoked. No one can serve two masters.
“Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.”
It is the Holy Spirit and not dollars that will finish the work. We all need to be concentrating on buying gold tried in the fire instead of uniting with the world on fulfilling the world’s mission.

I got a problem. You knew you were doing this program. You knew what you were doing it on. Why don't you know more? How could you do that? It's like going to school to take a test without ever studying. You're going to flunk you just flunk you just flunked

@paulasmith3238 what specifically do you want us to know more about, or, do you know more about that you can share with us? Also, one of my two guests at the last minute was unable to participate, so that did change in some measure what we had planned to share.

This was odd as you appeared to question why someone would offer such huge amounts of money (acknowledging political nature of some of the humanitarian focus). Yet you assured us that SDA are not compromised in being able to sound our Three Angels Messages commission while undertaking this directed spending. I am not so persuaded as you are by the response you received. I believe compromise and mingling has occurred. I question the wisdom of our leadership, just as I have questioned the refusal to address clear and deliberate apostasy in the church. I stopped attending when I was forced to receive from the pulpit directives that the Bible does not mean what it says, that men such as Paul wrote from their personal bias when the Word tells me Holy men of God wrote as they were moved by the Holy Spirit. Fundamental Belief 1 having been negated as a prime teaching in our churches.
It seems the majority of our Pastors are prepared to turn a blind eye to obvious corruption. Since when did we find it acceptable to mingle with the world’s systems. We are to be in the world and not of it.

I appreciated the response such as it was. I shared it as a point of interest. More detail would have been preferred. I am open to the idea that the response is incomplete or even wrong, but I do not start from a position of distrust. No doubt there are both ungodly and godly actors within the church organization. I am not ready to receive an accusation against an elder without requisite credible witnesses (1 Tim 5:19).

@@LarrytheguyfromMichigan Thank you. I understand where you are at. I wonder sometimes if within leadership and the pastoral ranks and more built up areas there is a bubble which prevents those inside from truly observing and recognising the widespread damage that has been occurring to Gods people. False teaching drives truth seekers away . Even those of us who believed we had tested and found doctrinal truth within the Adventist movement. When our church ditched Gods headship principle it ditched wisdom, not just concerning male and female but the type of men to be selected, heads of households, proven men of character and faith, not educated men programmed in seminaries to degrade the Bible through human reasoning. This is a direct departure from Biblical directive.
So much is wrong. So few seem to care. So many have been wounded. So many have fled. So many refuse to meet head on and challenge all these misdeeds. Is it the comfort of the pay roll? Is it the absence of wisdom? Who will be the Nehemiahs who will mend the breaches? I ask this as one who has tested and has seen the corruption and who watches all this feeling extreme grief for the beautiful truth I defied my friends and family to come in to.
Jeremiah 23 “Woe to the shepherds who are destroying and scattering the sheep of my pasture!” declares the Lord. 2 Therefore this is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says to the shepherds who tend my people: “Because you have scattered my flock and driven them away and have not bestowed care on them, I will bestow punishment on you for the evil you have done,” declares the Lord. 3 “I myself will gather the remnant of my flock out of all the countries where I have driven them and will bring them back to their pasture, where they will be fruitful and increase in number. 4 I will place shepherds over them who will tend them, and they will no longer be afraid or terrified, nor will any be missing,” declares the Lord.
