People who have a ton of money to buy an expensive car yet cheap out when shipping out that 6-figure car, makes you wonder what else they cheaped out on
12:49 been a transport broker for 15 years. Last 2 years for this type of theft, and garbage call center overseas brokers, has become rampart. You guys hit on some key facts. You get what you pay for, and any broker worth his salt, couldve seen the red flags before dispatching. He didn't care.
@@switchcars There are still a handful out there Doug, but as touched on before, with this influx of 'contamination' in the industry, its more challenging to find them. I believe like yourself with SwitchCars, you have clients that have entrusted you for multiple cars, and referrals from them to buy & sell with you, and they hang on to that relationship. If you ever want to chat further on the transport topic, were Advantage Auto Transport out of Palm Coast Florida.
Thank you very much! If you emailed it to us we'd have given you credit, and I'm sorry for not! I blame Meta's garbage messaging platform for being impossible to search or recall relevant information. Anyway, THANK YOU for the tip
It could be insurance fraud too, if the buyer intentionally "shipped" the car through his scam shippers, disappeared the car and then files an insurance claim.
Except for the very top echelon of expensive transporter companies, the rest of the entire transporter industry is barely 1 rung above seedy. I helped a friend sell a 70 Chevelle SS this spring to someone in Orlando. Shipper shows up and my friend asks if we give the title to the shipper!!! I said Oh God No!
You definitely never send the title with the car, no matter what. But there are plenty of 2nd-tier shippers that are far better than the seedy lot. Are they easy to find? No. But they're out there.
As a legitimate carrier for high end cars you cannot change the address etc without access to the email. Your renewal date will change for when your insurance changes. Someone can hack an account take the info and then get the dispatch info etc and pick up the car that way. This happened with my MC got a call about a Tahoe that I had no clue and no one that worked for me was taking guy got caught luckily. This incident led to my insurance being canceled even though I had no way to prevent this issue. What happened to me as far as I could boil down was that someone I submitted my info to for acquiring a load took that info then booked the load under my MC for this Tahoe. The only way to start or change info for a central account is to have access to the email but also to start it you need to verify based off the number and/or email from what is registered on the FMCSA.
LMAO i saw this ferrari on the back of a flatbed on i85 south outside of charlotte. if anyone has a link to the ferrari owners IG or FB im going over my dashcam footage from thanksgiving morning to screenshot the car on the flatbed so he can see if it was his car or not. it was a 812 with no plate strapped on the back of a ford f650 flatbed tow rig that was black with no company logo or markings on it.
they looked to be heading towards the SC boarder and this was on thanksgiving morning. might not be the same car but i highly suspect it is. the flatbed had no company markings though
I am a broker and I would've caught this business at first glance. It is very sad that the majority of brokers today are not doing their job and just collecting money for a service they are not providing. They are the ones who need to vet businesses, insurance policies, verify drivers and trucks, and ensure they are scheduling a reputable business before accepting any request from a carrier. That is the whole point of using one, brokers are the experts. Why else hire them? Here is a tip: before working with a broker, ask them to send you their own insurance (not the truck's insurance). If they don't have their own insurance avoid them unless they came recommended from a trustable source. If they dont have their own insurance, they have nothing to lose if they damage or lose your car. Why would you trust someone with your investment if they have no insurance or liability on them?
I think this guy didn't do his homework. I remember trying to sign up to an LTL load board in 08 or 09 for my courier company, and the amount of information and verification they requested was daunting. And it was all for naught, in 4 years I never got a load from that board. Any job I bid on, other, larger, courier companies would underbid me.
Ill say this, if a trucking company uses a bunch of random letters (typically 3-4), might wanna run, high dot# (say 2500000+) you wanna do some research
If the name of the owner of the transporter company sounds like an Albanian gangster, maybe you shouldn’t let them transport your Ferrari. If the operator shows up and he’s wearing a blue velvet track suit and a giant gold watch maybe you shouldn’t let them transport your Ferrari. If the operator’s other business is an escort service maybe you shouldn’t let them transport your Ferrari.
One of our favorite transporters, Nico, would dress just like that. Used him for years and years, loved that guy. There are plenty of honest Albanian Gangsters in track suits and gold chains.
The unfortunate part of this is that many brokers charge almost as much as top-tier shippers, they just pocked a huge percentage and then line up the lowest bidder shipper for the job.
It’s the brokers who drop the ball. Can’t spell “brokers” without “broke”. But yes. Owners should demand more information from their transport brokers. And/or stop using them!!
So in conclusion… if can buy 7:45 it you can (and should) drive it. If you make 500k+ you can make your own schedule, if you really wanted the car for its carness you’d drive it. If you want to show it off cuz youre a tool you deserve to get your car stolen
Just got a Range Rover stolen. Different company, but incorporated the same date. Sept 10th 2024. Also pending progressive insurance cancellation… interesting
See a need, fill a need. Seems like an honest fellow could make killing by running a reliable and trustworthy auto transport company. Seems like a lot of shadiness going on in that industry.
Negative. He had just bought the car and it was stolen right out of the dealership. We'll unpack it more next week on how it was stolen and subsequently recovered. It's now back in the owner's hands!
@switchcars well considering he just got it back then yeah he's in the clear. Based off what you said in the video it seemed like he was in on it with giving lack of details on how he booked transport. Glad he got it back!
Curious on what the percentage of good vs bad high end car transporters there are? I always find the Bad stories so entertaining but would seemingly have to think that the majority go just fine. I would imagine there has to be some "White Glove" level transporters out there but maybe those guys are too expensive for those financially overextended first Ferrari or Lamborghini owners to shell out the funds for that piece of mind?
Well the stories about the bad transporters are just more postable. Good transport would go something along the lines of: "Car was loaded at the dealership and after xx hours arrived to a customer without any major complications." The story will take about 2 minutes to tell.
I appreciate what you're doing, but you're kind of exposing yourself to a lot of drama that you don't need lol.. people are crazy, don't poke the bear.
By calling thieves thieves? I’m supposed to not help people avoid having their cars stolen by exposing scammers practices because of fear of retribution?

That would be Dewey/Cheatem/ & Howe

Could be. It's not. The theft by shady transporters is rampant within the industry.
Theft by conversion. It’s covered
That sounds like a all around scam and insurance fraud by owner of Ferrari. And that truck and. Trailer comes back to a dry van trailer

If I’m not mistaken Hyundai trailers are the 53’ container style
Almost guilty of doing this myself. Fortunately the deal fell through and didn’t ship a car. Now all I get is spam texts and emails. Buyer beware!
If you can afford that car you can afford a high quality transporter.
Hyundai doesn't make car transport trailers. That there is a dryvan
If you’re not transporting expensive cars with reliable you shouldn’t probably own that car

How do you ship a Ferrari knowingly and willingly with a shipper and a broker that don’t have the insurance to cover what they’re shipping
The brokers claim to be good at what they do. The customer usually has NO idea who the actual carrier is that's hauling their car.
