Fabulous singer and a real gentleman. Great voice. His musicians were phenomenal. Miss him dearly. Left us too soon. May Jehova God Bless him and remember him at the RESURRECTION I ask this in Jesus's Name.
Who did? In the 1950s he had his own tv musical variety show (the above video "Autumn Leaves" is a clip from it), where he'd sing and tickle the piano keyboard. Guests included Harry Belafonte and white singers with whom he'd duet. His talent appeal was universal, iconic as in his top selling Christmas albums. In 1965, the year of his death from lung cancer from cigarettes, in the film Cat Ballou he and Sammy Kaye throughout strolled, sang and strummed the theme song choral commentary ukelele. His performance quality held till the end.

@ Electronics. Wrong! Nat King Cole was not lip synching when he sang "Autumn Leaves" on his NBC-TV show! The proof of that is that Nat altered the emphasis and vocal inflections on some of the lyrics in his TV show performance of that song from the way he sang the song on his record album!
@ Electronics. But Nat did not make 2 separate studio recordings of "Autumn Leaves". The clear indication that he was not lip synching that song on his NBC-TV show was the extra long pause he made at the end of the song before he sang the last words of the song, ".....start to fall."
Wow. The sentiment of everything, his facial expressions, half nostalgic smile, his look, the lyrics. The instruments of the background and the atmosphere they create. Simply astonishing, two and a half minutes of something that hardly fits in words
Sorry man, but entertainer is not a very good word for Nat King Cole. He is not entertaining me, he is healing my soul. Jennifer Lopez is an entertainer, even though she doesn't entertain me either but for completely other reasons.
How absolutely stunning. In 1957, Nat King Cole had one of the highest rated shows on NBC-TV. It ended because stations in the South wouldn't run it, and because the show couldn't get a national sponsor. What a freaking tragedy of racism.

Que voz linda. Quanta elegância prá cantar. Me deu até vontade de chorar, depois de ouvir essa bela canção de origem francesa, ser gravada por um dos melhores cantores de todos os tempos.❤
I was born in Venezuela, 40 years ago. Went on to have a career as an English and French teacher. I know that the original song was actually in French, les feuilles mortes or dead leaves. Yves Montand sang it beautifully, as well as a great number of singers such as Edith Piaf, Dalida, Sinatra, Enrique Guzman, among others. But since Johnny Mercer did the English version and transformed this into Automn Leaves, became a whole different song, simply a MASTERPIECE. And in my opinion, no one could sing this song, in any language, better than Nat King Cole. I don't know how much time I have left, but I do know one thing, I'd enjoy leaving it while listening to this work of art, with the incomparable voice of Nat.
