I made these today the minute I saw this recipe!!!! They are oh my goodness good! I used dates, oats, vanilla almond butter, maple syrup, chia, hempseeds, chopped pecans, coconut, 1 tablespoon of vegan protein powder, 1 tablespoon of Cacao powder and drizzled blackberry jam and more peanut butter on top. They are heavenly!!!

    Hello Maddie,
I've tried your recipe but I had substitutes few ingredients. I've made trail mix granola bars using rolled oats, maryam dates (a little bit dry compare to medjool, I guess? So, I added like 2 tbsp of water for 1 cup of dates & works wonderfully!), peanut butter, honey, almond, prunes, pumpkin seeds, raisins, cocoa powder, chocolate chips & butterscotch chips. I didn't use puffed rice because I prefer crispy granola bars.
Yeah.. I know it is too much. Haha. This is the first time I made homemade granola bars. Most of the granola bars recipe in UA-cam only using like 4-5 ingredients. I'm afraid if using less ingredients will taste plain. Since the oats are almost no taste at all. But, yours.. woah! Heavenly heaven! So many things added. Thanks for giving the idea of this trail mix! I love it. Its taste like Snickers. I stored them in a fridge, much more crunchy.
ps: I made this as a birthday present for my boyfriend. Of course, I want it to turn out 'sweet'! So sweet until his heart melts! & He loves it. Haha. Sorry, if so many grammatical error. I'm not a native speaker. Greetings from Malaysia. :)

This recipe is outstanding, I made these for my husband to take to work, we keep ours in the freezer and pull out when ready to eat. I did not do the pb&j one just the original, so tasty, satisfying and easy to make. Keep those recipes coming. Trying your donuts tomorrow.

GrowingUpGantt I'm gluten free too but oats have a protein in them similar to gluten so I try to avoid them. even the so called gluten free oats affect me because of this protein. it sucks because I love oats.

Next time I'm going to follow the recipe -- I looked at this recipe and another one (Domestic Geek) that had less date ratio versus oats. Since I was doing all this work, I wanted to get a higher yield. I made something like: 4 cups oats/rice crispy, 3 cups dates, 1.5 cups peanut butter. I knew it wasn't as gooey as these two keep saying it is, but I was able to press it into my pan and it felt decent. Out the freezer and nope, crumbly. still edible of course, might try using what I have with some other additives to see if I can get actual bars.

We made something similar to this before on our channel, oats, dates, bananas, apples, walnuts, cinnamon, nutmeg, shredded carrots. and then put them in the dehydrator.
but honestly these look better with the peanut butter and jelly added :)
definitely want to make them for sure. maybe this weekend we will make it.
I think I want to try a dehydrated version sense we have a dehydrator and try the freezer version and compare them. I can let you know which one I like better if you want.
