For all those bashing Gabby just remember this, the person who wins trials (Simone) is the ONLY automatic team member. The rest of the rankings don't matter as much.. Every other spot is selected according to the strengths and needs to field the best team. USA needs help on the uneven bars one of Gabby's strengths (2012 Olympic all-around defending champ and gold medalist) She has proven bona fides and performs under pressure on the world stage. I'm betting Marta Karolyi, a gymnastics legend knows a little more about selecting a team than any of us in here. I trust her judgement on these matters more. Many Gabby bashers will use the excuse that she finished 7th therefore doesn't deserve to be on the team. But lets keep in mind Madison finished 8th and doesn't have the winning international credentials that Gabby has. So odd no one has a problem with her being selected though. And neither do I.. Such a shame that some are actually rooting for Gabby's failure, yet claim they are rooting for team USA. Impossible to separate them. At a point in her career when she needs encouragement, she gets hate from many people. Given these facts how about rooting for all the girls. Simone, Laurie, Ally, Gabby and Madison.

I'm proud of all these girls, but I think this interview was edited to death. It's a shame Madison didn't get the chance to speak... but I'm cheering for these ladies. They have done a super job and ALL deserve to be there. I have seen lots happen between now and the games over the years, and we hope and pray that all stay healthy and iron out the nerves and quirks of this last competetion. You go girls!! You're gonna have to fight the haters as well as the other teams, but you will be greater for it. Go get 'em!
It's so amazing to see the power of God at work in the selection of this team. Although I haven't done it, but if we do some research into the ethnic diversity of these girl's background it probably covers a wide spectrum of cultures that reflects the amazing history & values of the United States of America. God Bless them & God Bless the USA!!! So proud to see a quite colorful team. God is so perfect!

they chose Gabby on her strengths Maggie Nichols routines did not have the same difficulty. and they know what apparatus Gabby is strongest on that would make her an asset . if you don't know gymnastics you cant criticize their decision
