It doesn't explain it well enough in the movies. But the reason Fred and George Weasley left school during the whole debacle with Umbridge in Order of the Phoenix. Harry had previously given the Twins his winnings from the tri-wizard tournament. Which was a lot of money. And Harry's parents had already left him enough. This money is what they invested into doing the Skiving snack-boxes you see them showing to all the younger students during Order of the Phoenix. And how they eventually get their business off the ground. Just a little bit of knowledge that I thought you might appreciate.

I think you're the only reactor who guessed who R.A.B was, especially given the fact that in the movies Sirius's brother was barley even mentioned or shown on the Black family tree.
Snape is a half blood and his mother's maiden name was Prince... So, Half Blood Prince... and it shouldn't be a shock, i mean, he was the potions master for years. While he has an affinity for the Dark Arts, potion making came very easy to him... and only extremely powerful and intelligent wizards can create their own spells, counter spells, and potions, he did all those. He's also one of the best at occulmency and Legilimency, better than Voldemort in my opinion. Voldemort is always reading people's minds and influencing them in some capacity, and Voldemort believes it's impossible for someone to ever outsmart him, but Snape is one of the only people to ever resist Voldemort's influence, aswell as being able to fool and lie to both Voldemort and Dumbledore successfully without either of them knowing... he's a very intelligent, powerful, and underrated Wizard in my opinion. He's not quite as powerful as Voldemort or Dumbledore, he's just right beneath them, but if he ever set out with the goal to reach that level, it wouldn't surprise if managed to accomplish it by the time he's as old as Dumbledore was. The movies really don't do Snape justice in terms of conveying just how powerful he really is.

Have you noticed the trend of names in the Black family are constellations or stars? His own name, Sirius; his father's name was Orion; his brother Regulus (also the middle name Arcturus) and even their cousin Bellatrix (a star in the Orion constellation) are all celestial bodies.

In the book the Half-Blood Prince Hermione goes to the library and looks up Wizarding families with the name Prince, there was one family Severus Snape's mother was a prince. His father was a muggle so that makes him a Half-Blood and a half of a prince so the Half-Blood Prince
The book gave out way more hints than the movie🤯
@@DaKidsReact Yeah you guys are amazing at picking out the small details considering you didn't read the books. Most of us had the advantage of seeing the movies after we already read the books so we knew what to look for.
Lavender was never under a love spell or took a love potion. It was just plain old puberty. Professor Slughorn is another example of GoT cast crossing over. He was the archmaester at the Citadel that Sam answered to.
She was slightly less annoying in the book- but only slightly 😬
Dumbledore's hand became black when he attempted to destroy the ring Horcrux, which infected him with a curse that slowly spread to his arm like a cancer. This entire film (and perhaps even during the events of the previous film) Dumbledore already knew he was going to die from the Horxcrux's self defense mechanism and that it was unstoppable, he tries to hide it but then shows Harry the truth of it. This is why he wanted Harry to see his memories and partake in finding and destroying one of Voldemort's Horcruxes, because he knew he HAD to pass the torch to Harry now before he died, even if Harry wasn't ready yet. But this also gave Dumbledore time, time to think things through and plan ahead, so that even after his death he was still always two steps ahead of Voldemort through Harry. Even in death, the man was the fucking GOAT. That is true immortality, completely different from the type Tom Riddle (Voldemort) seeked.
In the book, Tom already knew how to make horcruxes, but wanted Slughorn’s take on basically the limits. He knew he could make one already, but what would happen if he kept going since it makes you more unstable with each.
I think he had actually already made one when he had that conversation.
I’m sure others have or will say this, but seeing Dumbledore beg and be in such a vulnerable state was so hard to watch. Someone so good and so powerful on their knees is tough to experience.
They didn’t have to do him like that😢

In the book The Half-Blood Prince, they actually changed Tom Riddle's line at the orphanage. In the book, he says that he can do things to people who annoy him. In the movie, he says that he can do things to people who are mean to him.
That makes a BIG difference!

The way I clicked on this so fast as soon as I logged into UA-cam 🙌🏻 y’all this book & movie had me shooketh. Some more information that is divulged in the books & not in the movies or at least not explained well in the movie is more of Voldemort’s backstory.
His mother was an abused witch part of the Gaunt family that were descendants of Salazar Slytherin which is where the locket comes from as an heirloom & Voldemort’s mom fell in love with the father, Tom Riddle, who was a muggle but because she was so abused by her father & brother she hardly could take care of herself so Tom Riddle never noticed her & she created this fantasy in her head of marrying him each time she saw him out her window & eventually when her brother & father got arrested she was able to escape her hellhole & gave Tom Riddle a love potion to fall in love with her & marry her & she soon fell pregnant but then because she loved Tom Riddle so much & thought he would love her back when she took him off the love potion, she did but Tom was so scared & ran off & abandoned her with the baby & she was so depressed & heartbroken & she went & sold the family Slytherin locket to Borgin & Burkes to make money cuz she had nothing to provide for her child but then when she made it to the orphanage to give birth cuz she knew she wouldn’t make it she gave birth & died an hr later.
Tom as you see in the movie grew up to show signs of a serial killer early on (loved dominating people & animals & hurting other for pleasure & easily lied about everything & immediately embraced that he was special & wanted to operate alone in everything he did).
He eventually apprenticed at Borgin & Burkes & went to a lady’s house to try & sell & buy some items off her & he discovered she had bought the Slytherin locket from Borgin & Burkes the one his mother had previously sold & had another item I won’t say what it is cuz it’s a spoiler. But anyways he killed her & took the items to make horcruxes & framed the lady’s house elf to look like she accidentally poisoned her mistress & got away.
It’s also super interesting to see the parallels & contrasts of Voldemort & Harry. Both are half-blood & yet one despises anything but pure bloods (is a racist in wizard world) & one embraces everyone from all walks of life (Harry obvi) & both had no parents growing up except Voldemort murdered his father & lives a power hungry selfish life where he trusts nobody & Harry is still kind & selfless towards everyone despite the abuse the Dursleys put him through & bullies at school & relies on his friends even though at times he has a hard time doing so. Harry is the definition of there being no excuse of what trauma you suffer or endure in your life, that’s no excuse to treat people poorly or be a shitty person it just means you have more obstacles to overcome than other people who haven’t suffered.
I know this is a long post but thought y’all would find the background info on Voldemort intriguing! Y’all’s reactions crack me up & you two are some of my fav hp reactors. So excited for your reaction on the two Hallows movies. Y’all ain’t ready 😂😂😭😭
It’s been close to a decade since I read the books but there’s one thing I remember not being in the movies that I wish was, and that is Voldemort’s family tree. His family had a very messed up past which is why he is shown to be an orphan in this movie. And for all his talk of wanting pure blood wizards, he’s only a half blood himself. If you guys want you can look into it on your own time, I find it kind of cool. Also I love your guy’s reactions, great sense of humor and you pick up on so many things that most wouldn’t

Professor Dumbledore's death was one of the most traumatic for Harry to witness. Right alongside his parents' murder at the hands of Voldemort when he was 15 months old, Cedric Diggory at the ratty (pun fully intended) hands of Wormtail during the last task of the Triwizard Tournament in that graveyard, and Sirius dying at the hands of his psychotic cousin Bellatrix Lestrange before he disappeared into the Veil in the Ministry Of Magic. Also, this is one of the few times Ron is shown to be intelligent in the movies. The scene on the Hogwarts Express where he's explaining the Unbreakable Vow to Harry, specifically. The wizard's chess scenes from Philosopher's Stone is another. I think another good example is the good questions who was asking in chamber of secrets when Harry found that crumpled up book page in Hermione's hand.
The last few movies Harry has been hit w/ so much death & it’s starting to hit more & more at home for him. We will be watching deathly hallows on Monday so excited to see where they take us🔥

Yay! I was just heading out for my daily walk & needed something to listen to/watch. This is perfect & will keep me entertained the whole time.
There are a couple of important things that are discussed in the books but only alluded to in the movie.
First, Voldemort did not expect Draco to succeed in getting rid of Dumbledore. He gave the boy the job as punishment for Lucius Malfoy’s failures, The diary Horcrux was destroyed in Lucius’s plot to open the Chamber of Secrets & then he failed to retrieve the prophecy from the Dept. of Mysteries.
Voldemort was furious so he gave Draco a job he thought the boy couldn’t accomplish then told the Malfoys that he would kiII the boy if he failed. That’s why Narcissa Malfoy went to Snape.
Snape knew about the plan because Voldemort, believing Draco would fail, told him with the understanding that Snape would do it after Draco tried.
Second, everyone who watches the movies but doesn’t read the books is confused about the Horcruxes. Tom Riddle asked Slughorn about splitting his SOUL into 7 pieces. One piece has to remain in his body so he planned to create SIX Horcruxes. He had already made one -the ring he was wearing-so he needed to know if it was safe to split his soul again. Once Slughorn confirmed it was possible to split the soul more than once young Tom Riddle set out to make 5 more.
It was the original part of his tattered soul that fled the Potter’s house after the failed attack on baby Harry. Voldemort’s body was destroyed so that piece of his soul fled to Albania & hid. Quirrel stumbled upon it while he was in Albania studying vampires & bought it back to Britain. It was that piece of his soul that Pettigrew used to resurrect Voldemort in Goblet of Fire.
So happy that you picked up Ginny’s attraction to Harry. The subtle looks & sly hints are usually missed by reactors.

The bridge the death eaters destroy at the start was a minor error on the film makers part, as the half-blood prince takes place in 1996 but the bridge in the movie was the millennium bridge which wasn't yet built at that time. (it was built between late 1998 and mid 2000) it was probably used in the movie because of all the bridges in London this one would have probably been the only one at the time to have an available 3D model they could get. as it was the newest bridge and had been designed partly on computer.

Robbie Coltrane who played Hagrid was 6 ft 1 in, in the book I believe Hagrid though if I'm not mistaken it's supposed to be roughly like 8 ft 6in tall, he's like half the size of a giant now in the book He's described as being twice the size of an average man, which would basically put them at roughly around 11 ft but in the movie it was 8 ft 6 in.
Excited for you to finish this, and then onto (the better imo) series of LOTR. Sooooo good.

They go way more into depth with Tom riddles past in the books that’s the one thing I wish was more in this movie but still amazing
Tom Riddle is so mysterious in the movies, we barely get any flash backs on how he was as a person. But I feel like it gives great suspense to the character and Voldemort which works out tbh!

@looneygardener. I’ll soon be 58 & I also have a hand carved wand. Actually I have 3. One I made myself & the others made by a child that was in my care.
I work as a nanny & years ago one of my young charges did her 7th grade project on the wand lore of HP. She had to have visual aids as part of the project so we made several wands to display & pass around the class during her presentation. We went to Hobby Lobby & bought dowels, wooden craft items, leather strips & even cabinet knobs for the ends of the handles. It was a great project & so much fun to make the wands.

Won-Won = Ron-Ron = Ron. Lavender's a pretty, outgoing, sweet, and probably smart girl, who has seems to have an anxious attachment style, and is experiencing a limerent episode with Ron. Usually stems from childhood events. She could also, additionally, have been infantilized by her family while growing up, something that can also lead to unhealthy behaviours as an adult. She's not a lost cause yet though... she's young, and there's time for her to figure it out before she becomes an adult.
In the books, it’s better explained, the ring you see riddle playing with as he’s asking about hocruxes Is the same ring that was his families heirloom. at that time as a teenager, he had already murdered seven people. He just didn’t know he could focus that energy into something even more sinister

I was looking forward to this one so much! Luckily I had my beer and snacks to go lol This definitely one of my favorites as a book and as a movie, I've re -read this book sooo many times and even though the movie itself didn't get all the amazing details from the book (like the backstory of the half blood prince, harry reading through the book etc. ) , they did a pretty good job! I don't know if it's just me but this movie almost feels like a fever dream to me ahaha it just has that dreamy vibe from the love potions, the romance of it all, draco in a suit all movie, slughorn, luna , the coloring and cinematic editing etc
but it's also a bitter sweet movie because it means the end is coming soon T^T and yes Dumbledore's death always hurt me so much!

No, Robbie Coltrane (Hagrid) wasn't as big as the character. He was an average height though stocky. Any time they show him from behind, that's someone else. And he was probably on stilts or walking on a board that was higher than the kids.
Hermione was mortified! Not sad! Similar thing happened to me once, in front of someone was crushing hard on -- it really wasn't a big deal, but OMG, I wanted to disappear into the ground, I was SO EMBARRASSED!

One thing I wish they included in the film was Dumbledore's funeral in the book. It was really beautiful and very deserving. It kind of felt like they just glossed over his death, much like Sirius.
🤣🤣 We got a few comments about the Cyrus part. We appreciate you & we try our best to be as locked in during the movies to pick up on everything as we possibly can. WE AGREE! We haven’t read the books but the way they just had him die & that was it didn’t sit right w/ us. They both deserved that addition into the film as so many of us got attached to those characters, dumbledore more than Sirius.

This is my favorite book but least favorite movie. They left out too many important points to focus on the romance..and that was lame af the way they did it.
FYI the scenes with Bellatrix at the Weasley house are not in the book. It never happened. Not only the Ministry but the Order as well had layers of protective spells all over the Burrow while Harry was there. In the meantime they left out a great battle at Hogwarts and replaced it with that stupid scene. My niece was so upset that she stood up in a full theater and shouted "That didn't happen in the book!".
There were also at least 4 crucial memories about Voldemort that they left out that gave Dumbledore and Harry a *lot* of info about what the horcruxes might be.

Draco was trying to repair the Vanishing Cabinet in the Room Of Requirement because it was broken. It took a few tries till he got it right.
It was Ginny but none of that happened like that in the book. Ginny is a great character in the books and the first kiss between her and Harry was much more impulsive and in public. Also Harry hid the book himself because Snape realized he had it as soon as Harry used Sectumsempra on Draco because Snape invented the spell along with a few others.
This is why I always recommend that people read or listen to the books after they finish the movies.
