For people who want to do it by ear the tuning is CGDGAD and it starts with a 5 7H on the 2nd string; open 4th string + 4 on the 1st; 4H5P5 on 1st; 7 on 2nd; 5 on 2nd; open 4th + 5 on 2nd; 7 on 2nd, 5 on 2nd; open 5+4+3 + 2 on 2nd; open 2nd; 2 on 6th + 2 on 5th + 4 on 4th; 2 on 5th, 4 on 4th; open 3rd; open 2nd; open 5th + 2 on 2nd; 4HP2P02H4; open 1st; bar 2nd fret + 4 on 2nd... The low C is never used so you can use DGDGAD and there is quite a lot of low D which can then just be an open drone string.
I had no idea Dave had gone. I have this LP due to Stefan Grossman recommending his playing in the 1980s. John Donne was right when he wrote that we are diminished by the passing of even someone not close to us. . I feel diminished these days when so many artists who brought me such joy have passed on.
I remember I heard this song the first time from Planxty played with Uèlian pipes - this is a very nice arrangement of a real master on fingerstyle acoustic guitar! The tab for this is in one of my Stefan Grossman books. Just pulled it out recently, this should keep me busy. Loads of people have done it but I like this one.
This is totally braw version but I like the KEEFCHAP version more because although it's almost identical it flows far more smoothly. It's pure lovely though.
I had the LP back in the day and can tell you,there was no tab.They might have had a mail in request thing going but it bypassed me if so. Dave's other KM stuff did,tho....

I had that album too, about 35 years ago now. I thought the TAB book was an extra purchase item. The Dave Evans songs were the best ones in the bunch, in my opinion: the easiest to play yet yielding the nicest sound.
Thanks for posting :) My dad had this album and I pretty much wore it out during my early teen years. I have searched for it but fear it is lost forever after my parents moved house several times. I don't suppose you know of anywhere I could get the tab or manuscript for this album do you?
I unfortunately do not know where you could get the tablature, but I think the vinyl came with a tab book for a portion of the songs. You may be able to find a copy on ebay, but I know it is difficult to find the record with the book included, as most people seem to keep it and sell the album without it.
