i was of the opinion of 3-2 until i watched the fight in 0.5x and audio mute. I was surprised that Makhachev won not only the round no. 1, 2 & 4 but also 3, round 3 was the most competitive round which in 1 gothrough nobodie's vision can catch. you have to see it in slo mo. Makhachev just did it enough to win that round. knees, then a good kick, nice straight left which even volk acknowledged. I recommend you to watch the fight in 0.5x and mute the audio.

Props to Islam for improving his English every passing event. Although he must still not be understanding all the questions to full extent and might come off in a different way because of his limited vocabulary.

Every time I gave that to Islam.
And he did not look like himself from the start. He was already depleted before the fight.
He looked so much smaller in the cage compared to the Oliveira fight. Look how big he was in the Bobby Green fight at 160lbs, he’d be a tank at 170.

I am so happy to hear Islam take positives from the Volk fight, many would of thought he would of shy away of talking about such a 'win' given all the controversy and backlash towards it but props to the Lightweight Champion and I hope he puts on a dominant performance and entertaining fight against Charles Oliveira at UFC 294.

If Islam would go up to 170 and lose it would be the same thing. I think realistically gaethje/Islam should fight next. He deserves a title shot. I don't think its an excuse that Islam wasn't fully recovered during the Volk fight, I was more of a Volk fan but Islam didn't look as good as he did in the Charles fight and I'm talking about health and how he looked in terms of appearance, he looked kinda dehydrated and even a bit frail in my opinion
The real reason was he travel from one end to the other end of the world to fight p4p guy in UFC and only had 12 hours for recovery after the weightcut

I thought he should’ve given Volk a rematch but now after listening to him I think he shouldn’t. He gave Volk a chance and beat him but didn’t get P4P so no benefit for him.
He also got accused of being a cheater by Volks coach and teammate without any evidence and nothing was ever said as an apology or whatever. Can understand he doesn't feel like rewarding Volk with the rematch.
