Boys don't cry - I wanna be a cowboy. Ever since I saw you riding the wooden horse in the east fork this song reminds me of you. I wanna be a cowboy
TOOL Reflection. The intro feels like a pace kept on an expedition of exploration. The whole song is a journey of discovery, “before we pine away”
1981 Styx too much time on my hands I've given up hopeonthe afternoon soaps and a bottle of cold brew 😊🍺 it just reminds me of the good old days you grew up in the era I did so it's totally you
Simple Minds Don’t you, forget about me... “ Don’t you, forget about me “
Ramble on , led Zeppelin /Leaves are falling all around
It's time I was on my way
Thanks to you I'm much obliged
For such a pleasant stay
But now it's time for me to go
The autumn moon lights my way
For now I smell the rain
And with it pain
And it's headed my way
Ah, sometimes I grow so tired
But I know I've got one thing I got to do
Ramble on
And now's the time, the time is now
To sing my song
I'm goin' 'round the world, I got to find my girl
On my way
I've been this way ten years to the day
Ramble on
Gotta find the queen of all my dreams
Got no time for spreadin' roots
The time has come to be gone
And thoough our health we drank a thousand times
It's time to ramble on
Oingo Boingo: We Close our Eyes "I looked death in the face last night I saw him in a mirror and he simply smiled, he told me not to worry...he told me just to take my time."
At the time, I was watching your video. My young daughter was napping in my arms and this song was either referenced or played. After that my daughter and I used to dance to this and other Oingo Boingo songs. Mind you this was her infant through toddler years when I could still carry her. Lyrics were reassuring.

I Can Survive
Triumph
I think this is your theme song because you can totally survive in nature or urban areas! The music totally fits your vibe (IMO). Up beat but still calm.
And I know what you're thinkin'
But don't pity me, oh no
I'll be better off out on my own
I can survive
I know that I can survive just fine
I said, I can survive
I said, I can survive on my own
Now you should know just what to do
Don't let other people take advantage of you now
Don't think twice, no, don't hesitate
Shoot for the top, you gotta deal with fate

But now the days are short. I’m in the Autumn of the year. And now I think of my life as vintage wine from fine old kegs. From the brim to the dregs, it poured sweet and clear. IT WAS A VERY GOOD YEAR. Frank Sinatra
Billy Joel - turn the lights back on
Context : as a Gen x this song suits all of us , knowing what you have shared with me and others I could go the easy route and pick Linkin Park yet who ever said keeping the past alive was easy in saying that ty for the years you have shared as well as the losses .
Rockwell - I got a feeling that Somebody's Watching You (Alan) 😼 ...in Blair Witch Canyon. 🤣
Ok Alan, being an 80s kid myself, the song I picked that I think reps you and your channel is John Denver's "The Eagle and the Hawk.". I live in high places reps all your climbs and hikes you shared with us, Blood on my feathers ...man down, man down. Give it a listen 🎧. Out of the norm for me, I still remember being partially deaf after seeing Dio in 85.
you ands steve, I thought would put some thought into it. you did. I know the song well. Denver was one of only two people I ever heard sing it and do it any justice. He was an awesome guy with a beautiful mind. You know, he wrote Calipso, ON THE CALIPSO, while diving with Cousteau! I relate to the guy like I do with few others. Thank you
just relistened to it and My comment from 13 years ago stood in my face. funny how that happens BUT, in an instant, you gave me my next solo and a clip to add to the video along with the mention of your choice here. rad, thanks dude
"The Highway Men"
It captures the essence of your identity without ego.
How your spirit will rest in the San Gabriel's and remain again. I can hear your echoes through the canyon, as the river speaks in a language only you can understand . The nostalgia of every beaten path. The knowledge your eyes have soaked in.
"You shall return a Highway Man again"
Thin Lizzy “Cowboy Song”
I am just a Cowboy lonesome on the trail
A starry night, a campfire light
The coyote call
And the howling winds wail
So I’ll ride out to the old sundown
I am just a Cowboy lonesome on the trail
Lord I’m just thinking about a certain female
The nights we spent together ridin
on the range
Lookin back it didn’t seem so strange.
Being old school too, and 59 yrs old, every song makes me reflect back to the memories of what you were doing, who you were with, or when you first remember hearing it. Hiking/camping always gives you a lot of time to reflect as the miles slip by on the trail. I’ve been 0:45 subscribed to you since back in the Shangri La 3 videos era, and wrist rocket partridge dinners when I first bought my shangri la 3…. First verse reminds me of a mix from your earlier videos, and the 2nd verse reminds of how we all are looking back on our lives.
ONE MORE TIME by blink-182.
"Strangers, from strangers into brothers,
From brothers into strangers once again
We saw the whole world, but I couldn't see the meaning
I couldn't even recognize my friends"
I used to think this song was corny until you used it in one of your videos. Once I listened to and thought about the lyrics, I realized I could connect to it. It reminds of this youtube community you've created for people who share a passion for history and nature.
Yes, so many I have become so close to, then time changes everything and I rarely see or hear from them. They are gone, I am still here, waiting, looking, listening, taking part. I have seen 7 groups full turn overs since 1981 to now. Many are dead, many gone and forgot I exist. It is sad in many ways. In these mountains, special friendships, relationships and bonds are made. Then it feels like we are kids and out playing. But they ALWAYS return to adulthood and reality. Some come back for visits but it's never the same as it once was. It ALL fuels me and keeps me young inside. But time catches us all and I have lately begun to feel the pain. It is scary Andrew! I am slowly being show my time in "never land" is coming to a close. My mind panics at times and thinks what will I do, where will I go, who will be there to share the times with? They there's a flash of ending it on my terms that flashes in my head, but I would never do that. That is the enemy trying to get me. The link between friends is vital for a sane and satisfying life but tech is halting this and causing people to go bat shit crazy! I don't know where we are headed but YOU GUYS, keep me grounded and the adventures keep me on track.
I miss you, took time, but I admit it
It still hurts even after all these years
And I know that next time ain't always gonna happen
I gotta say, "I love you" while we're here
Do I have to die to hear you miss me?
Do I have to die to hear you say goodbye?
I don't wanna act like there's tomorrow
I don't wanna wait to do this one more time
Hey lady, you got the love I need
Maybe more than enough
Oh darling, darling, darling
Walk a while with me
Ohh, you've got so much, so much, so much
Many have I loved, and many times been bitten
Many times I've gazed along the open road
Many times I've lied, and many times I've listened
Many times I've wondered how much there is to know
Led Zeppelin
Over the Hills and Far Away
Kind of the story of my life. I’ll be 65 in June and would do it all over again.
Alan, dedicate this song to you with all the group meetups and and seasonal activities that you put together. Been watching your channel for over 15 years and can never get enough of a Pharaoh notification. ATB Mike
Cause we got thick skin. We ain’t here to play. We’re here to stay. Bad company. Bad company.
My short story. A work related accident damaged my back. Working on getting patched back together so I can meet you in the San Gabriels some day. So the song is Deep Purple's, Perfect strangers. The verse, "When you hear me talking on the wind you got to understand we must remain perfect strangers".
Paint it Black - Rolling Stones. The beat of the opening of the song fits your mojo, the dirt and the dust of the trail kicking up under your boots
Over the mountain Ozzy Osborne. Over the mountain take me across sky.
Right on
The Cure..A Forest..Come closer and see see into the trees. Find the girl! Watched you for many years now and watched the girls come and go:)
RAD!
This was my second choice !
Every time I hear the Cure, A Forest, I think of Allan.
cheap trick- way of the world= (world goes round life goes on and on you say its over but the world keeps turnin round) end of lyrics, because no matter what happens in our lives the world keeps turnin round.
Spizzenergi - Where's Captain Kirk (1979)
Great theme song for your camping mountain top starship adventures, Captain.
I was beamed aboard the Starship Enterprise
What I felt, what I saw, was a total surprise
I looked around and wondered can this be
Or is this the start of my insanity?
Lincoln Park - In the end.
Time is a valuable thing. The world around us is changing but we hold onto what we have left. There’s not many of us left but we’re holding on. What it meant to me will eventually be
A memory of a time when I tried so hard.
All I know
Time is a valuable thing
Watch it fly by as the pendulum swings
Watch it count down to the end of the day
The clock ticks life away
… It's so unreal
Proclaimers I’m gonna be 500 miles
Allen how about ... Hombres g devuelveme a mi chica.. tell me what you think of it
you gave no lyrics, i dont know them
Bjork, “Human Behavior.”
“There's definitely, definitely, definitely no logic
To human behaviour
But yet so, yet so irresistible
And there is no map”
Carrying Jen thru the trees at Scout Camp as you were filming. 😂Unforgettable. One of my favorite trips ever.
