Great gameplay! btw, in the draft portion did you say Mockingbird requires you to pay an extra mana to copy a spell on board? I think it cares about total mana value so you end up paying the same amount plus you get flying!
Yea, he said that and I was about to lose it because that’s why he didn’t pick it… I think it was the best pick in the pack by a lot that early in the draft
@@bjg678 It copies a target for total mana value, so you can copy a 4 mana creature by paying 3 + blue. In the past it would have just said copy a creature with mana value X, thats why its worded differently, albeit confusingly.
I think you're under estimating the Coiling Rebirth. In most decks, sure I can see it. In your deck it can be 5 mana, put 4 flying power/toughness on the board, deal 4 damage, gain 4 life.
I love watching your draft videos over any other mtga content creator because of how passionate you are about winning and not in the tryhard kind of way. Watching your videos never fail to give me the confidence I need to do well in my drafts
I misunderstood how the card worked so I was mistakenly thinking you had to spend 4 mana to copy a 3 drop and so forth. That’s what I meant by spending a premium, since the extra mana would have been the premium in this case.
Really not feeling the Ravine Raider here. Except when drawing it T1, youre pretty much never happy to see it and it has no further synergy with the deck.
It was also partially to trade with opposing early creatures. Making Scales of Shale cheaper sometimes can be nice too. I don't think it's great here though.
I'm pretty pleased with myself, since I just won 6/6 on the new premier draft for Alchemy. When I was drafting the deck, I thought I had ended up making one of the worst draft decks of all time, but then I ended up winning every match... Actually, rather than explaining the deck, I might as well just post the decklist, since I kept it as a "trophy". The ones with "Y25" are the new Alchemy cards. Do you enjoy watching me play Arena Open tournaments and other, "high stakes," Magic events?
I’m enjoying watching drafts no matter what (especially bloomburrow) but the extra stakes are exciting :)
I like these " high stakes" videos of yours especially. They're extra exciting and educational as you go deeper during the draft and deckbuilding.
It was really Cool watching you play best of threes traditional matches!
Great gameplay! btw, in the draft portion did you say Mockingbird requires you to pay an extra mana to copy a spell on board? I think it cares about total mana value so you end up paying the same amount plus you get flying!
Holy shit you’re actually right, that’s crazy, I undervalued that card a little because of misreading it. Tysm!
Yea, he said that and I was about to lose it because that’s why he didn’t pick it… I think it was the best pick in the pack by a lot that early in the draft
Don’t you pay the mana value plus one blue mana? So if the target of 3 mana you need 4 mana open but a blue source must be used?

Came to comments to say this also 😅
Wooooo good work Nicolai! Bats is my favorite deck to draft in this set so far
I'm glad you liked it!

I had it in a deck once and it was just hard to use and I basically always wanted a different card.
Huge! Looking forward to the second draft!
I'm glad you enjoyed it!

I appreciate the kind words!
The blue in mocking bird counts towards the CMC so a 1 CMC creature can be copied for the single blue mana
Good to know!
Hi Nico and thks for the video! Just wondering what do you mean by spending a premium for the Mockingbird at 01:29?
I misunderstood how the card worked so I was mistakenly thinking you had to spend 4 mana to copy a 3 drop and so forth. That’s what I meant by spending a premium, since the extra mana would have been the premium in this case.
@@NicolaiBolas yeah all good that’s what I thought. That’s what makes it a pretty good card being on par mana wise! Thks for the answer Nico ;)
well done! Lunar Convocation was MVP, so much card draw.
Lunar Convocation was indeed awesome!
#clutchback As usual learned a lot, it seems so easy when you draft, while when i do, all seems difficult and barely getting there.
I'm glad you're finding my videos informative!

#crescentmoon I didn’t like this deck when you drafted it but you played well
I'm glad you enjoyed at least the gameplay portion!

Are you sick? Your voice sounds different
I'm completely well, my voice was just a little tired and I did the draft in the morning.
