  • Dermatochalasis is an extremely common condition where the upper eyelid skin becomes droopy and overhands the eyes. It is a common aging change but some people have an anatomy or family history that makes them more prone to this condition. When dermatochalasis becomes severe enough, it interferes with the upper field of vision. It also creates a heavy sensation on the eyelids, limits ability of women to apply makeup, and has negative cosmetic effects. When the condition becomes visually significant, medical insurance covers bilateral upper eyelid blepharoplasty or eyelid lift.
